Whats the best kind of footwear to wear under kickers. Wrestling boots? Boxing boots? Flat shoes? Hoping someone can help me out?

If you have to ask, then I really hope you're not trying to be a wrestler...
It all depends on you, how you wrestle, etc. If you have to ask "Hmm...should I wear pro boots or amateur shoes?"...then you are not ready to be in a ring.
I own both. If its a match where I wanna be lighter so I can fly around a bit better, I'm going to wear amateur shoes under my kickpads, (and they're called kickpads, not kickers). If I'm going to be wrestling a more Memphis-style match, I'll wear pro-boots. I hate how many "wrestlers" these days don't even know the benefits of boots, or how to even wear a pair.

I am training to be a wrestler. I don't know why I should have that right stripped away from me on the basis of a question?
I trained about 10 years ago for a few years and I used to wear pro boots but for when I'm ready to get back in a ring again hopefully for the beginning of next year I thought of giving "Kick Pads" a go. I was just curious of the best footwear and benefits.
Thank you for your help.

Get some leather boots. Guys in locker rooms are looked down upon when they wear amateur shoes with kickers over them. The guys I book....I tell them they cant work without having boots....too low class backyard crap, same thing for guys who cant get proper gear. Get some gear.

Why don't you ask at your wrestling school? Assuming that's what you want them for?

I would have, I just thought I would ask since I was online and hoped to see some differant opinions

Yeah because Edge, Kofi Kingston, Shelton Benjamin, CM Punk and The Miz are all low level backyards. Go with whatever feels best for you. It seems like most guys that wear kick pads prefer the amateur shoes. But they're are a few guys like Jericho who wear leather boots under theirs. Just take a show with both and which ever one you are more comfortable in or feel safer in stick with them.

I started out with wrestling shoes because they were lighter. I banged my heel on a back drop though and then switched to wrestling boots for several years. I am now back to shoes and I started wearing kickpads over them. I recommend the show/kickpad combo if you're a smaller guy that needs to be quick and fly all over the ring. If you're a bigger guy and can get away with not doing a ton, then boots are the way to go.
A good pair of boots will cost you $400-$500. I'd stay away from the cheaper stuff if you can. They tend to not hold up well over time.
Wrestling shoes are the cheapest option. I'd recommend either a boxing or MMA/weight lifting shoe though. They are a little heavier but offer more protection for the bottom of the foot and heel.

Some of the best wrestlers in the world wears shoes with kickpads and not boots (including the guys who claims to be the best in the world right now). As long as you look like you go to the gym and have actual tights, trunks, bikers, or a singlet...you won't look like a backyarder. (Avoid the baggy pants or shorts with a t-shirt or tank top look if you can.) As long as you can work, it shouldn't matter what you wear on your feet. I've seen plenty of bad wrestlers have horrible matches even though they had boots. p.s. I'd love to see you tell Eddie Edwards or Davey Richards that they look like low class backyard crap because they wear shoes with kickpads.

Pretty sure that those four guys you just mentioned (Kofi, Shelton, Punk, Miz) all wear shoes and not boots. So if they ever get released from WWE you wouldn't book them because they look like backyarders?

It all depends on what you want. Some people look at boots as being more professional but the majority of indy guys wear kick pads with wrestling shoes. You can also go the Chris Jericho route if you are short and get boots and put kick pads over those. The average wrestler who wears kick pads wears wrestling shoes though.
A good pair of boots is gonna cost you $150-$200 if not more so it all depends on what you can afford and where you are looking to go in wrestling.

oh, CM, your dumbass is showing again. And you have worked in how many locker rooms? Everyone here is a freaking expert in everything but dont actually have any relevant experience and just run your mouth like you do. EVERY locker room I have been in has said the same thing. And if guys like Shelton, Kofi, etc. DO wear amateur shoes.....THEY ARE IN WWE!!!!! They arent working for $20 a night in front of 200 people. Davey Richards has far surpassed the point that he has to justify his ring gear any longer. Damn you guys cover yourselves in intellectually- disabled person.

I've worked in plenty of locker rooms and I have 10 years of relevant pro wrestling experience bro. Sounds like you're working in shiiiitty locker rooms with backyarders trying be to pro's. How am I a intellectually- disabled person for calling you out on being wrong about guys with shoes? I don't understand your new argument...you have to wear wrestling boots until you either prove yourself to be a good worker on the indies or get signed by the WWE? I'm confused.

So you can say we cover ourselves in intellectually- disabled person because we proved you wrong? And I know for a fact that in either 07 or 08 around the time he was fueding with Taker Edge wore Nike Shox under his kickpads. They arent exactly a shoe you get confused with boots. As for Punk he wear Optomix ametuer shoes under his as yu can see the writing on the bottom. And way to try covering your ass by saying that a guy like Davey has surpassed the point where his ring gear matters but all that does is make you a hypocrite. Point in case is that it doesnt matter what you wear under your kickpads. As long as you are safe and comfortable and can work it wont affect how well you do in this business. So to London Ross go with whats best for you and ignore whatever this bunghole fanboy CM (I stalk wrestlers) Sheepstopper because he thinks he is better then everyone and that he is always right.

It's not that wearing kickpads and amateur wrestling shoes instantly colors you as a lesser talent at all. It's the fact that some of the promoters and workers will look down upon you for wearing them. It's just the way it is.
I say buy yourself a pair of good old fashioned wrestling boots, and keep a set of kickpads and other footwear in your bag at all times too. Nothing wrong with being prepared.

When did the shoes/kickpads combo get such a bad rep for not being able to wrestle well? I've been in A LOT of locker room and I've never seen/heard it. If you're a 115 pound skinny kid with baggy pants and a t-shirt, yeah, maybe you should wear boots. But if you actually know how to wrestle, shoes/kickpads shouldn't be an issue. Also, I would like to know why these "promoters" are even using these people to begin with if they look down on the shoes/kickpads look. Normally promoters tend to look at pictures and watch videos of a guy's match before deciding to bring him in.

I wouldnt say I am working in crapty locker rooms. I mean I'm not working ROH, PWG, Chikara, etc. But they are far away from backyard feds. I'm not wrong about guys and shoes. Tons of promoters and even more wrestlers will say that. A lot of long tenured pros will tell new guys that they need to make sure to get themselves proper gear....boots being one of those. I'm not saying you gotta wear boots till you make it big. I am saying that when you are in WWE.....your shoes no longer mean as much. Before Punk switched to kickers.....he wore wrestling boots. I dont know if his first indy match he had boots....maybe he didnt. But at some point along the way....some veteran probably sat him down and told him to get himself a pair of boots. And you have worked in how many locker rooms? Everyone here is a freaking expert in everything but dont actually have any relevant experience and just run your mouth like you do. So to London Ross go with whats best for you and ignore whatever this bunghole fanboy CM (I stalk wrestlers) Sheepstopper because he thinks he is better then everyone and that he is always right. The only thing you proved is opinions are like bungholes....everyone has one and most of them stink. You know for a fact that Edge wore Nike Shox. So what? Even if we take this as fact......it proves nothing. For the MAJORITY of his career....including his indy days.....Edge wore boots. Tons of people have worn shoes, sneakers, etc in some match at some point. I'm not covering my ass....why would I need to? Telling you FACTS doesnt make me a hypocrite. If you cant understand that Joe Blow the indy wrestler needs to have proper equipment moreso than John Cena.....God help you. Seems like pretty basic and common knowledge. As long as you are safe and comfortable? Dude.....do you work on the indys trying to secure bookings? If you're a guy who works for $20 a match.....safe and comfortable is irrelevant in the promoter's eyes. You are seeing it from Davey Richards perspective or from someone in WWE. See it from the local indy kid trying to work his way up and is looking to get as many bookings as he can. Bunghole fanboy?! LMAO!!! Ok kid....be the internet tough guy. I'm gonna pound the keys on my keyboard so hard cuz CM made me so mad!! I'll show him. I'll call him names and say he stalks wrestlers. LOL!! So tiresome. Put your jealousy aside and stick to the topic at hand. London, you should definitely take the opinion of some kid who watches ROH and uses "work rate" as the solution to everything over someone who actually promotes, books and writes shows. I'm guessing you must be a worker, considering you see it for exactly what it is. It's not that wearing kickpads and amateur wrestling shoes instantly colors you as a lesser talent at all. It's the fact that some of the promoters and workers will look down upon you for wearing them. It's just the way it is. It equates to not looking the part. Local promoters are trying to sell a product. Eventhough you are putting on a show for 400 fans.....you want the perception to be that you are putting on a show for 5000 fans. That you are not just some local yokel....eventhough you are. Its about perception. If I book Davey Richards.....NO ONE is gonna say crap to him if he decides to put on sneakers on and go out there. But if you are Joe Blow Indy.....I'm gonna tell you to get yourself a pair of boots and I wont be booking u till you do. Yes, we look at pics and videos......but we dont invite you back if you dont have the proper gear.

CM actually does have a good point here guys..
If you are going to be a professional and work as a professional...then you need to look the part.
HOWEVER
There is nothing wrong with wrestling shoes/Kickpads
