I give Bret the nod for overall combination of Mic skills and in-ring presence. . Seriously?

I give Bret the nod for overall combination of Mic skills and in-ring presence. . Seriously? I don't care what anybody says...Bret Hart in 1997 was the man on the mic. "Thank you for still letting me be your hero." "Have you ever noticed that the United States of America looks like one big, giant toilet bowl?" "If I were to give the United States an enema, I'd put the hose right here in Pittsburgh!" ...great stuff!

Bret was awesome on the mic in 1997, no one is going to argue against that. Problem is, he was excellent on the mic for 1 year of his career out of 20. The rest, giving him the benefit of the doubt cause he is in my top 5, was average at best. I think Angle is one of the top men on the stick of all time, and he was saddled with an awesome gimmick to boot.

Kurt Angle is involved in two-thirds of my three favorite matches of all-time. Two-thirds of the matches I've seen with Bret Hart are really overrated.

While it's extremely close, I prefer Angle.

I can easily say Angle. While they were both pretty even in terms of actual in ring ability I think Angle wrestled a faster, more smash-mouth style while still exhibiting his technical abilities. And in terms of charisma and mic-skills and general entertainment outside of the ring I think Angle is head and shoulder's above Hart. Bret is a very boring personality.

IMO, Angle was able to excel because there were no real other contenders for such a great technical wrestler during the time he was there. Bret had so many to compete with; Curt Hennig, Owen Hart, Pillman, Sting, Randy Savage, Dynamite Kid, Rick Rude etc etc (I could go on).

Kurt was much better I think. I never liked Bret and still don't to this day.

I agree that there were less "technical" guys during Angle's run, but he did have Benoit to compete w/, who is also considered a top 5 technical wrestler of all time.
