I see some customs on eBay listed for exorbitant prices going unsold and I'm curious as to the most you've ever shelled out for or actually sold a custom for? What was the item? In retrospect, do you regret buying/selling it for that amount?
Edit: Sorry if this is in the wrong forum.

Bought Custom Jakks Bella's at £21 Then I got the mattel ones they're both wearing the same attire and the mattel ones beat it by a mile! But that was a while ago I bought the customs.

I sold my first custom, a CSDA Debut Attire Kane, for $147.50. Most of the others go for $30-75.

I've never purchased a custom, however, my two top sellers were both back in June of 2006, and were a Halloween Havoc Warrior for $202, and a Demolition set of 3 for $285.

Thanks for the responses. For those that sold customs, do you feel like what you were paid reflected the amount of work you put in?

Thanks for the responses. For those that sold customs, do you feel like what you were paid reflected the amount of work you put in? Not generally. The only custom I specifially remember "upcharging for difficulty" was a Rey custom.. when he was recently new to the wwf... I think it was because the tats and the pants... but on the other hand I did a Randy Orton custom for next to nothing.

I don't believe I've ever purchased or sold a custom to this day. I've seen a few that I'm really interested in on Ebay but I don't think the prices are very reasonable in regards to the seller, so I'll hold off on that.

I never purchased or sold a custom. But if I wanted to I could since I noticed some dude on eBay that ripped off all my recipes for a ton of guys I did like Blassie, Blackwell ect. The guy even copied the custom belts I made. I was flattered and angered at the same time, but I have the piece of mind knowing that mine are better.

I suppose it could be argued that he's still doing the grunt work and has a right to charge for his time, but it's still kind of messed up.

His work was rushed, and his starting bids were way too high, am I wrong for loving the fact that none of them sold?

My highest custom was back in 09/2009. Jeff Hardy custom Joker attire. Sold on ebay for $350: Very ugly BUT pretty successful... ...and this Mattel version of Halloween Havoc Warrior (w/ Coat from Ralphs) sold for $250: The highest price i´ve paid for was for a 1:1 replica of the 1 of 100 Toyfair U. Warrior made by Skribbel24! The only Skribbel24 custom that´s still in my collection. The detail work on this figure is amazing and i love his Jakks-like limited golden Stickers on the Box. Pretty expensive, but worth every cent!

Paid £12 for a John Cena figure when I was 15. Came with the WWE Title and US Title. First of those two titles I ever bought.

I've typically only sold my stuff for $35-50, but then again I've never taken a shot at using eBay. For the most part, I've been happy with what I've made off my work. If I can have fun making something, and at least cover my efforts comfortably, then it's all worth it.
Though it definitely can be a hassle dealing with the low-ball offers. Some people legit think that the cost of the parts/shipping are irrelevant when making offers, and expect you to sell for just a few dollars above the cost of a figure at retail. I can respect someone only being able to afford a certain amount, but it's insulting when they think you're the unreasonable one for expecting even a penny more.
