I generally charge £35 for my cutom orders, sometimes £40 depending on work that needs doing.

The highest price i´ve paid for was for a 1:1 replica of the 1 of 100 Toyfair U. Warrior made by Skribbel24! The only Skribbel24 custom that´s still in my collection. The detail work on this figure is amazing and i love his Jakks-like limited golden Stickers on the Box. Pretty expensive, but worth every cent! Pics? How much did that run you?

Ebay is always a gamble, I have seen some go for as much as $100, and some go for less than $20!

I've sold a custom Mattel elite Hulk for around $100 (ebay auction) and a custom Mattel elite Jeff Hardy for around $100 (customer) as well.

I haven't done a wrestling figure in about 10 years, but I think my highest sale was about $50
Now I mostly do mighty muggs and my starting price is $55, i sometimes do sales and drop the price to $40. but I think most I've sold one for was $80, because it required a ton or sculpting.

So is it safe to say that the vast majority of customizers selling their work are just looking to recuperate some of their investment and not necessarily make a profit? I.e.: They would customize paid or unpaid so anything they make is just gravy.
I'm really intrigued by full-time professional customizers (I think they're mostly lego and Transformers for the most part). I can't imagine what kind of pace they have to keep to make a good living.

I know its been a while but have only just read the last post.
I have just started making customs other than hasbro, thats my speciality. It will be interesting to see what my average price ends up being, its usually determined by what people are willing to pay, obviously!
Anyway, to answer your question. I know some people who make customs, not to sell, but just to collet for themselves. However, i do keep a few of mine, but sell what i can, and if i am 100% honest, i want as much as i can possibly get for them. I believe that the vast majority of customisers who sell never get great prices. If you think about it... The figure/parts, the paints/putty etc, and any amount of hours, some of mine (not including clay/paint drying) can usually take around 5-10 hours.
Its not a way to make money at all, but it is fun! (sometimes bloody frustrating)

Sold a custom Powers Of Pain for £80 once. Sold a Tugboat and Team Rated RKO for around £40. Shows the difference in the economy considering I have customs on Ebay at the moment with custom backing card and plastic bubble and they don't seem to be selling as well as the ones out the box a few years ago! Hopefull the bids will come in last minute
