I was thinking lately about Classics On Demand, and the Monday Night Wars and such, and do you think there will ever be a time where WWE will finally show Benoit footage again??
It will seem pretty weird going into the 99 and 2000 Monday Night War programs and Benoit matches not being aired. Especially when the Radicalz debuted on Raw.
I know many times there has been topics on this forum about Benoit, but I am just wondering now if WWE will ever say, "okay... air the Benoit footage for that episode."

Mentioned.... No. Shown? Yes. Just check out the DVD/Bluray Release of Elimination Chamber (The best of set.) He's shown completely, but everything positive said about him is edited out.

He made the cut in the background of Bret Hart's Hall of Fame speech extra on the "Greatest Rivalries" DVD too.

That is true, I do know he was shown on that dvd cause he was in the Chamber. But on Classic's On Demand, his matches on Nitro get edited off. Even the recent ppv showings of Super Brawl 8 and Starrcade 99 his matches were taken off of them.
I am just wondering if at any time, they will be left on there instead of being edited off.

Probably not 1 on 1 matches but things like Elimination Chambers and Royal Rumbles then yes.

Apart from his record in the rumble. That was erased from time completely. (see Raw a while back when Cole said only 1 person went in from the number 1 spot. And the video package saying the same thing.)

And the video package saying the same thing.) Actually Cole did say "two superstars in the history of WWE have entered #1 and won the Rumble...one being Shawn Michaels". I think slowly WWE will include him again, they already did in recent dvd releases like the Best of Nitro with the reformation of the 4 Horsemen with Arn even introducing Benoit. As for Classics on Demand, it does suck his matches are not included. |

I think it will be a long, long time before Benoit is ever mentioned again, if at all.
He may be shown in matches where he is one of many, but his individual accomplishments will never be highlighted.

they don't want to talk about a murderer, it's hard for people to really comprehend what he did but when you say to yourself he single handedly killed nancy and suffocated his son that's not something you want to showcase on their show regardless of what talent he had in the ring.

I agree...the only thing WWE can really do is show Benoit but any praise or mention of him would be edited out. That is what they did in the Elimination Chamber Anthology, which i think is a step in the right direction. When Benoit was in the ring, there were awkward pauses when he was on the offense. At least they didn't completely remove the match. |
