I've never personally seen switches of figures in my local stores but how to due these switcharoos occur to begin with? Is it something along the manufacturers side or just returns from customers etc and to be honest, as long as the figures in the switcharoos are people that I would look forward to, I wouldn't mind seeing them every once in a while. But I could see how this is a problem that needs to be resolved soon. is it something along the manufacturers line? mattel is putting jakks product into the packages? Apologizes if you were awestruck by seeing this.

See, here is the thing. You guys are posting this literally everyday and more and more collectors get on and its so easy to see these types of articles and how easy everyone else is getting away with this and with the ppl complaining about prices all the time. Why not? The more ppl they see getting away with this everyday, the more ppl are going to do it. Its only getting worse cause were making it worse. Posting these are like telling ppl hey guys look how many ppl are getting away with this, you gotta go try it now. SO they do. I couldnt disagree more with this comment. Prices are driven due to people stealing/switching the figures. Its not a outline on how to switch a figure nor do I show how to do. Its that its being done and it needs to be stopped. People like this are the ones driving the prices of the figures up to the point where honest paying customers are the ones suffering. You're asinine to think that post like this is supporting a criminal act. Its like when the police post a picture on the news/ internet of a murderer on the loose. it doesnt mean "Hey he is getting away with it so can I". Its to show that this is happening and if it doesnt get situated it escalates since no one is doing anything about it.

My Wal-Mart actually has some sitting there right now. IT's some Elite 7 Hart Dynasty packages with Two-Packs 4 Hart Dynasty inside. It's pretty ridiculous. I remember a few months back there was an Elite Triple H that had the glow sticks, shirt, and hat stolen from it, and they had all been replaced with some random stuff. Also, there was an Elite 3 Cody Rhodes with a Two-packs 1 Cody Rhodes in it and the shirt stolen. Trips and Cody eventually sold, so I feel bad for that kid who probably ended up with those.

No offense man, but i think your the one just a little bit naive to think that posting stuff like this over and over everyday all day long is not causing the problem. If I remember correctly, Prices started going up before this really got outta hand. A year ago you didn't run into a lot of this, but now this year its going wild. Stuff like this does not affect the price because retail gets there orders in and Mattel gets there money either way (Hence why stores are not allowed to return the items for newer stuff or there money back). Its exactly like i said. Ppl read these articles or hear something on TV about a crime and how many ppl are pulling it off, so they go do it because they don't want to pay for something. Everyone likes something for free in this world and if someone is reading about ppl pulling off the perfect scam everyday, there going to try it.

if they just put pictures of the figures on the back of the box then people wouldnt have the balls to do such obvious switches.
im betting right now that we wont see many wm elite switcharoo returns, they show pictures of the figures on the back and i think , while that may not stop the problem, it will detere some people from doing switcharoos.

I don't see it but i am tired of reading about it. I did walk into TRU today and see a macho man missing from the 2 pack with Morrison.

It goes round in a circle really doesn't it? Figures stolen - replaced with Jakks - returned to store - Mattel lose profit - raise prices to make up for the missing money - Figures stolen etc. It's ridiculous. This can't go on, or Mattel will be forced to cancel more lines

I honestly can't blame the employees this time. All the figures either remotely resemble the actual superstar or is the same person. Funny thing is, I would buy all of these figures if it weren't for the elite price. Stuff like this confuses me though, it seems like switches like this sell better than the Reys and Ortons around here.

Those are annoying. If you need to steal & do those switcharoos just to get new figures, that's a clear sign that you should STOP collecting altogether.

This can't go on, or Mattel will be forced to cancel more lines Mattel doesn't lose a dime - it's the retailer that loses the money. If the product is in the store - it's their own inventory and responsibility. As someone who works in a retail environment, I'll say that most retailers don't care about these types of small thefts as they simply don't have the manpower/payroll to investigate and track them. The stores that carry toys like TRU, Walmart, Target, and Kmart are putting their loss prevention dollars into protecting high ticket items and employee/customer safety. It's a lot more expensive to lose high end electronics or have someone be injured so that's where the preventative money goes. My boss used to work for TRU and said toys generally have a 40% gross margin which means a lost Mattel figure is only setting the store back somewhere between $6-12 bucks - not really much to worry about when there's bigger issues around.

But stores won't order figures until they sell out the ones they have, and if they are all switches which nobody wants, they wont sell. Therefore, Mattel does not sell that store more figures, and does not make money from that location.

Ok.. this obviously is not a kid. You said they are 20.99 at your store? What kid has $80+ bucks to spend on figures? ....and the balls to return them?
You should seriously report that to the store manager. That is a lot of money to lose for no good reason.
Whoever is doing this stuff is a complete loser.

At least Sheamus was replaced with an elite. Thats not even remotely a positive note on a terrible situation. If you saw that in store are you telling me you'd be "ok" with a switch like that saying that at least it was switched with another elite?!?!?! i wouldnt be mad, i just wouldnt buy the figure.
