How many of these exist and what is the value of one? I have a chance to buy one for $415 canadian dollars. I heard there was only 24 made in the world. Saw one on ebay that sold for almost $4000. Do you think I could turn a profit?

For only 24 in the world, they sure do appear on ebay a lot. Just be careful it's not a very good custom/fake.
You might want to get photos and ask guys like Hasbromaniac, STOM, Midnight and others as they can probably help you validate that it's real. Also make sure to pay with paypal and a credit card so that you have different ways to hopefully file disputes and potentially get your money back if it's fake.
If the seller is reputable, he won't mind you taking some time and doing the research. If he's trying to push too hard, it's probabaly a fake.
Hope this helps.

Thanks. It does help. I was thinking that too. Some guy emailed me when he saw me bidding and said he sold it to the guy and that he had more of them if I didn't get this one.
So that sucks.

I've seen the real piece, the one that went for $3000 something on eBay. This one is definitely a custom/fake. The star on his belly is way too large. The person making it probably assumed just because the moon looks big on the real Kamala, that he should go ahead and make it like that. The one made by Hasbro was much smaller in size and a lot thinner.
On a side note it seems like this guy met John Titor...I didn't know it was the year 2008...

I asked him if it was legit and unopen and he ignored me. He'll have to second offer it to the next fool cause I'm not getting this.
That real one on ebay the other day went for damn near $4000 US. Nice!

That Kamala is better and more accurate than the Jakks one. Now that we have the new leg mold, hopefully now we can get an accurate Kamala

I only know of 2 legitimate carded specimens out there; not to say that more don't exist. The one that was recently listed on ebay sold for approx. $6,500.00 back in 2004,it didn't sell this time around though.
Unfortunately there are very few serious Hasbro collectors willing to spend that kind of money; mainly as it is very, very difficult to ID an authentic Kamala w/moon. I'm sure you've seen the dozens of customs on ebay throughout the last few years. Some sellers even claiming that theirs were legit.
Luckily I can tell the fakes from the real thing as I do own one; bought when the Hasbro line was still active.

It still cost you like $6000, didn't it?

There's a lot of (good and bad) fakes out there so be on the lookout.

I thought it was the star on the belly that was rare and the moon was the standard.

Ok, if this one pictured here is a fake or custom job, then does anyone have a picture of the real deal??

I do! I 'll post it in my next Hasbro History post Monday night. I will have to add some text to the pic so no unsavory sellers will try and use my pic on ebay.

I think it's a bit too late for that. I've had a picture of your moon Kamala sitting on my HD for a good while now

i came across a fake(i think)about 5 years ago before the price guides even knew it existed, i hope it was a fake because the guy was selling it for $60...he was known for resealing customs, like jim neidhart with hart foundation attire, so im pretty sure it was a fake

I don't know how someone could spend $6500 on a toy, boggle the mind. Put a down payment on a car or something

Wow, That's a TERRIBLE fake.
The moon is going under the bellybutton like the shape of an ear (yes, I know that's how Kamala looks in real life, but...) the geniune version should have a much thinner moon curving OVER the belly button like the shape of a handle on a mug.
Also the price sticker is a dead freakin giveaway...I don't believe these things ever saw the light of day. The only existed in Hasbro, and therefore would never HAVE a price sticker in the first place.
Also if I were going to put up something work six grand I would find SOME WAY to get a clearer un-questionable pic.
Sadly customs have driven down the value of this once prized catch (1/100 Terry Funk, you're next)
