Because a topic about Sting should be pinned on every board.

Sting is one of the greatest of all time easily but he was IMO the Bret Hart of WCW. He was the guy that could draw fans and was over as hell but WCW, and more importantly Hogan wouldnt let him be the face of the company much like Vince did to Bret from 93 to 97. And regaurding Goldburg i guess im the only person who actually liked Nash ending the streak? As for the night after and what followed thats a different story. The day Nash ended the streak was great but the finger of death and combining the two factions into one again killed it I still am a sting fan till this day and starcade 97 ending of the match was so sloppy what a waist of a great build up match

Watching Starrcade on the network, wow that ending was odd. And the match overall was odd. Sting was beatdown most of the match, then pinned clean, then a weird intervention that didn't make sense due to the count we saw. Man, if I would've seen it live back in the day I would've been considerably confused.

LOL!...it didn't work out that way!

Man, if I would've seen it live back in the day I would've been considerably confused. I actually came here to post the same exact thing, I've been watching a lot of old WCW on the Network and watched this the other day. As a 6 year old kid at the time I didn't really understand what as happening, all I knew was that Sting won and that's all that mattered but my god, what a terrible ing ending. Sting gets beaten clean then the bell doesn't ring and Bret Hart is standing there stopping the time keeper. None of it made sense and now I completely understand how this match was such a let down for older fans at the time. The best part of the match was Nick Patrick's selling of Bret Hart's punch. The whole thing was a cluster . I am looking forward to them hopefully putting up old Nitros on the Network as I'd love to rewatch the build for this match.
