Kurt Angle appeared on TMZ Live today and said his Olympics goal may be in jeopardy due to a hamstring injury. The following is from TMZ.com: Former Team USA wrestling bad ass Kurt Angle has hit a major hurdle in his quest to return to the Olympics … telling TMZ he sustained a major injury that could put an end to his journey.
Angle — who won a gold medal for heavyweight freestyle wrestling at the ’96 games — just called in to “TMZ Live” and explained, “I injured my hamstring this morning … it is a tear.” The 43-year-old says the injury occurred during a training session this morning … and he has an MRI scheduled for tomorrow.
Angle tells us, “I still plan on going [to the Olympics] … I’ve been training for a whole year now … so it all depends on how it heals … but if this tear is really bad, there’s a chance I may not go.”The audio can be found here: www.tmz.com/2012/03/29/kurt-angle-injured-olympics/

Kurt will never accept that his body can't handle it anymore. He needs to just come do a few matches in WWE and call it a career.

I think maybe taking some time off will be good for Kurt's pro wrestling career. He's grown stale to me lately. And since absence does make the heart grow fonder time away can only help.

Yes Kurt does need time away from wrestling, take a 6 month sabbatical and come back in 6 months

Even though Kurt is still one of the best in the world today, he seriously needs to take time off for his own sake. Besides for a few months off between WWE and TNA in 2006, the guy has literally never taken a long time off to heal up. The guy has a laundry list of injuries, and his matches haven't exactly been up to "Angle standards" lately. He should definatly accept that his body cannot take training for the Olympics and take 6 months to a year off. Come back for one last major run after that and then call it a career in the ring. Hes one of the greatest ever, but he needs to think about his own health for his and his families sake.

He should have an Undertaker-like schedule, a really really light schedule because at 43, he needs to take it easy since his body is not what it used to be

Kurt will never accept that his body can't handle it anymore. He needs to just come do a few matches in WWE and call it a career. Why WWE? Why not TNA, NJPW, AJPW etc. I just dont get why alot of people say that about wrestlers. If anything, WWE is the company with least amount of wrestling involved.

Kurt is an awesome talent.
I'm sad to see his Olympic dream die but he's had a lot of mileage on his body throughout the years.
I wish him a speedy recovery and success in whatever facet of life he continues on.

As fans, we may want one, or all, of those. That's just the small portion of it. We also know that there would be a ton of possible great matches if he was to come back to the WWE, unlike TNA where he has faced everyone already. Not all of us watch, or even have access to Japan material, so that is another factor of why WWE over other companies.

I agree that he really should take some time off, we all know how great he is, it seems that he has to prove it time & time again: he's too proud.

He needs to get back too wwe for either a short, intense full time shedule run and then a big send off match or get a limited, undertaker-like shedule where they use him for huge ppv's. imo...i like his work in tna and all but he's just too good to be there, an athlete like him, with a tremedous wwe career on him, has just always felt out of place in a second rate league to me, and i AM a tna fan.
And japan, well, in all due respect, big crowds or not unless your a hardcore fan (like most of us) nobody will give a fukc about you being there. not a place where i want to see a kurt angle retire, or even wrestle for a long period,it's good for a one of match or tour but aside from being able to boast about wrestling in japan,in the casual fans eyes being sent to japan is a "bad" as being relegated to some indy fed,you end up being of the radar in the wrestling world for the most part. at least that's how i always felt about it.
