Yeah, that's a weird way to start a topic, but honestly, this isn't some creepy thing haha.
I'm turning 21 in a few weeks, and then with that I will be coming up on 18 years as a wrestling fan. I accidentally got into wrestling when my parents took me to Florida when I was about 3 and a half, and saw a WCW Worldwide taping and was hooked on wrestling, but could only watch WWF at home, so that's how I got "in". I rented video tapes from the video shop etc, but I was definitely brought in watching the New Generation, and can remember the Attitude era, then got "smart" on the internet when I was about 10, and the passion has got stronger & stronger to where I've just come back from my third Wrestlemania.
But while I was there, I obviously noticed how much younger everyone seems to be. Maybe it's me slowly growing up but it got me thinking "Damn I've been watching this for a while". People I hung around with there were my age or older but it's had me thinking about the younger people who watch the WWE. I remember watching during the Attitude Era wild eyed and loving it, but 15 year olds now, even going by my "get in at 3 years old", these kids would have missed that era, and may have even started watching wrestling when it was ONLY WWF around and that seems weeeeeeeird
So, the minimum age limit here is 13, there's got to be some posters around that 13-15 age so to those posters - how did you start watching? Who were your childhood heroes? And who do you consider as "old"?
Sorry to all the posters older than me reading this who may now definitely feel old. My bad. But also, feel free to post some memories of how you started watching

I've been watching as long as you have and when I hear someone has been watching since 2002 I always think of them as a new fan... even though they've been watching for 10 years! That makes me feel old.

Been watching since Summer of 1997, so i've seen ALOT haha. If Cena is the only face of the company they've ever watched through then i consider them a new fan tbh lol

I'm about to be 24 and I've been watching since Survivor Series 1990. I really feel old. That was almost 22 years ago.

I'm 16, and I'm nearing 14 years as a fan of the company, I followed Kurt Angle and The Undertaker, they were my favourites at that time. Was a big fan of Owen before he had the accident. My grandad got me into it big time when he taped the Mick Foley celebrating Rocks life. That was it from then on!

I'm 18 and i've been watching since some time in 1998. My first memory of watching wrestling was going to my Nan's house one day when my Uncle was watching a VHS of an old In Your house featuring Undertaker against Kama in a casket match. From then I was hooked.

I'm 19, started watching probably about 96? Obviously being so young, those years are abit of a haze, but i have great memories of the whole attitude era and followed it through to right now.

I'm 20 years old, my family first got into wrestling at the end of 92, so even though I was like 8 months old at the time, I guess you could say there's no date as to when I personally started watching, I have been watching it since I can remember.
Alot of my early memories of watching wrestling are watching wcw and 95-96 wwf. I stopped around 2003, and have dipped in a and out ever since.

Technically, I've been watching my whole life. My Mom and my Aunts use to be huge wrestling fans so it rubbed off on me & my older Brother. Apparently I went to Smokey Mt. Wrestling shows when I was a baby. I think there's a picture somewhere of Ricky Morton holding me. Anyway, I'm 19 so yeah.

I'm 16, and I started watching it at Wrestlemania 21, I was in class and everyone was talking about it, so when i got home I told my mom I was ordering it and It was just the greatest thing I had ever watched..and within a week I knew more about WWE then all the kids who had been watching it before me, and I still love it to this day, I didn't grow up and pretend to hate it cause everyone else called it stupid and gay, just to seem cool. I've only missed i think 3 PPV's since 2005, and it was Vengeance 2005, Survivor Series 2011, and One other in 2011

I started to watch wrestling on a weekly basis in 2004. Does that make me a "new" fan?

I'm 15 I'll be 16 next year... Anyways - I started watching wrestling around 2007 because I had a long time friend in primary school who was a huge fan of WWE(Even brought his IC Title for our year 6 play lol)it was around WM 23 time or something, but I remember matches like Great Khali vs. Shawn Michaels and The Hardys winning the tag titles on RAW, but I was watching WWE on a weekly basis in 2008. I was always told that I would watch it when I was 3 but I have a bad memory so I don't know. -I was a big fan of Triple H and a bit of Edge(I mostly watch Smackdown, since I wasn't bothered to watch RAW at 2am but I would always catch the replay on Thursdays. I didn't even start watching PPV's live until like 2009, I think it was Bragging Rights not sure.

I'm not in the age group you asked about but this is an interesting topic, so I decided to reply. I have been watching wrestling since I was 4. Right around the time Hulkamania and Wrestlemania were beginning. I am now soon to be 35, so I have been a wrestling fan for almost 31 years! I have seen every WM within a week of it's air date. Hulk and Andre were my two favorites in the beginning. I have seen what they mean by the wrestling business being cyclical first hand. Huge surge in the 80's with Hulkamania, the downturn between that and the attitude era, the next surge with the NWO and WWE's Attutude, the next downturn with the fall of WCW and the ruthless aggression era, and now the beginning of what I think could be the next real surge. It's an exciting time to be a wrestling fan. Seeing how many of us loyal fans started watching as young kids, it's clear why WWE has gone the route of catering to the younger crowd. They are the wrestling fans of the future that will carry the business to the next level.

I'm 18, and have been watching for basically as long as I can remember. I remember very vaguely watching some WCW and WWF in the mid-late 90's, but soon after, we got rid of our cable, so I could only watch wrestling on VHS tapes. That's when I got hooked on late 80's/early 90's wrestling. Up until around 2003-2004, that's basically the only wrestling I watched, and then I finally started watching Raw and Smackdown, and that's when I got into current wrestling. I feel like I had a rather unique experience...I was raised on old-school wrestling, as well as modern-day wrestling. My favorites during my 80's-90's watching days were Hulk Hogan, Macho Man, Ultimate Warrior, Jim Duggan, Sgt. Slaughter, Bret Hart, The Rockers, L.O.D....the list goes on and on. Then, when I got into current wrestling, my favorites were definitely Evolution, above all else.

I started watching wrestling in 2006 when my friends kept on talking about it. At first I made fun of wrestling, but then I watched and got hooked. When I started watching, I was always amazed by Shawn Michaels. Now, I have over 250 DVDs, so now I know how big of a star he really was and lots of what happened in the past.
