If they were to re-make Mortal Kombat, they need to stay true to the video game but also stay true to the original 1995 film, then they need to do it with a good cast, but my cast that I would choose for the Mortal Kombat re-make would be:
Jon Foo- Liu Kang
Chris Evans- Johnny Cage
Jason Statham- Kano
Ian Anthony Dale- Scorpion
Glenn Jacobs AKA Kane- Nathan Jones (CGI & make-up)
Thomas Jane- Rayden
Byung-hun Lee- Sub Zero
Ali Larter- Sonya Blade
Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa- Shang Tsung
Sam Tjhia- Kitana
And with the first movie you can build upon having sequels

They are making a new MK movie.
It's being done by the guy that put out that trailer last year 'Mortal Kombat: Rebirth' and made the MK Legacy web series.
And, Nathan Jones? Who? What are you saying when you want Kane to play Nathan Jones? I'm thinking you're talking about the former WWE guy. There's no MK character named Nathan Jones so I'm lost. Elaborate, haha.

I'd kill myself if Ali Larter played Sonya. That's one of the worst casting calls I've ever seen, and you should just.. Just stop.

Kane or Nathan Jones as Shao Kahn maybe? Nathan Jones was pretty badass in The Protector, so I could see that.

All it needs is an epic Lui Kang/Goro fight scene and a choreograph heavy martial arts fight at the end with Shang Tsung and Lui Kang. Oh, and it needs gore.
If they can capture a tense tournament win-or-die atmosphere like the Spartacus show then it will be great IMO.

They don't necessarily need to remake it at all, but they do need to make a movie that gives more of the back story. Have it coincide with the games, if you have played the newest Mortal Kombat game that is out and done the story mode, you learn A LOT about the history of it.
I guess it doesn't help that Ed Boon said they just make up the story as they go, but finding the story of Mortal Kombat has always interested me.
