Mattel sees sales growth of five per cent across portfolio.British fans are continuing to boost the WWE brand, with Mattel's toy line enjoying sales growth of five per cent across the portfolio (source: NPD Data Action Figure Supercategory, Value, March 2012). The number four action brand (source: NPD Action Figure Standard Category, Value, March 2012) is out-performing the total action figures category and the rest of the world. A raft of new toys are planned, driven by an extensive marketing programme including WWE UK live events, heavyweight TV advertising and high-visibility activity in boys press and online. Highlights include WWE Brawlin' Buddies (pictured), super-size plush characters with fighting sounds and signature phrases. There is also the WWE High Flying Fury play-set, which lets fans launch WWE FlexForce figures into the air, flying, spinning, crashing and bashing through breakable ladders, tables and chairs. In addition, there are new arrivals in the WWE Rumblers line, with the WWE Rumblers Blastin' Breakdown Ring. "WWE looks set to be a winning brand in the UK in 2012," said Jonathan Kirkley, Mattel's boys marketing manager. "The toy line is in a great position and our exciting new portfolio will really bring the entertainment property to life, supported by a strong multi-platform marketing campaign that will keep the toys front of mind." www.licensing.biz/news/9021/WWE-toy-line-shows-strength-in-UK

Is it really any surprise that it's doing well?
Hell I rarely see product on shelves anymore, because it's flying off. Just managed to get Series 18 from Argos, everything sells here eventually. Even the Randy Orton's where in America he's a huge peg warming problem.

Don't know whether this is good or bad news ?
I mean, if they sell well then Mattel will ship more stock over and figures might be a tad easier to get at retail.
Or... On the other hand, Mattel are seeing more sales so in turn decide to put prices up....which I think we've a bit of evidence already with the rising cost of battle packs.

I'm not really suprised either, there's hardly any figure to be found a week after they hit. Sounds good for us that it's doing so well.

Thats cool to know, hopefully we will get BOPPV sets & exclusive figures. As I've mentioned on the boards before, TRU UK's buyer passed on the "current" BOPPV sets a few months back. But, seeing as TRU in the US is still restocking them ("set" cases now, rather than split cases) maybe there's a chance. The best we can probably hope for is to at least see a little more consistent/regular restocking of Elite series. Rumblers and Flexforce have played major parts in the new numbers, as they did last year. They're building on that.

I wonder what the top three are (besides Ben 10)... I think Star Wars, Doctor Who and Harry Potter would be up there... any franchise that has a big following and has big displays in-store. Last time I was in Smyths, the guy who was helping me said how popular the WWE line is for them.

Even as a none collector anymore I think it shows, occassionaly if i pass an isle selling them I will have a gander, just in curiosity, I figured they were either ordering less stock or they were just selling far quicker than JAKKS.
