So, everyone hates the way mattel figures are distributed and we all love to complain that all we see are Ortons, Rey-Reys and Cenas but think about it this way. We (teenage and adult collectors) are the minority of mattel's WWE buyers. And the majority are the little kids that watch WWE and want their favorite superstars as toys (cos that's what they are to them), specifically Cena, Rey and Randy. Mattel makes a lot more money (and a lot more people happy) by filling the shops with The 'popular to little kids' figures. Even if they miss out on some of us buying a couple of figures and make us annoyed they are giving tonnes of ittle kids what they want and making them happy. So think how it would be if you were a kid and you wanted a Cena and STOP COMPLAINING! Ok, rant over, have a good day!

I think half the problem is mate, of which some of what your saying I agree with, is the fact they're probably over producing figures like Rey, Randy and Cena too much, resulting in the shelves being clogged up and them not shifting quickly at all which again results in stores not feeling the need to order more figures because of the amount left on their stock check. I see both sides of the argument.

Yeah - I can understand Mattel catering to their main market (kids!) with more Cena's, Orton's and Rey's - it just sucks though when you go to a store and see nothing but countless Cena's and Elite Orton's... And until the store sells them all, they're not likely to get much new stock/figures in.

Yeah a positive attitude never killed anyone. Problem is if the line up isn't exactly how they want it a lot of people on here throw a hissy fit. I've come to terms with the fact that's never gonna change.

At TRU yesterday, the ONLY Elites they had were: 1 Bryan, 1 HHH, 1 Hart, 9 Cenas. The Basics: 1 Miz, 3 Henry, 2 Christian, 4 Undertaker, 9 Reys, 12 Cenas. Battle Packs: 8 Miz vs Alex Riley, 4 Rock vs Cena

Mattel does not care about our complaints. They follow their business model, so they will continue to over produce big sellers like Cena, Rey, Taker and Orton. It makes sense business wise but sucks for collectors, and kids too who leave stores empty handed because they already have a few of each at home.
People should know by now that Mattel will not waver. They will not release suited figures, they will not release "obscure" legends such as Greg Valentine, Killer Kowalski, Jay Strongbow, or Tito Santana, and they will not release another elite scale ring.
They will however continue to be gushed over by the masses here as if they are a newborn every time they release another nexus battle pack, or fat wrestler with aligator arms.

They're just toys xD. Why should Mattel worry so much about distribution? They're main market is kids most likely. I get what I can find and if I cant find it in stores than I probably don't need it...unless the price is decent on ebay.

I agree with a lot of what you said and a lot of what others are saying. There is over production of guys like Cena, Rey, Orton. What others dont realize is these are toys meant for kids, We as collectors are a dying bread, we collected for years (Some from the awa days and the LJN days) and we hold onto this because we feel like keeping a bit of our childhood alive, just in a different fashion.
If mattel stopped producing so many Cenas, Reys and Ortons they would go belly up.
Im not one for complaining because i enjoy seeing kids buy their favorite superstars and it makes me feel great there are still die hard wrestling fans out there. I want mattel to keep doing what they do and i dont care if there is hundreds of shelf warmers out there.

I'm 14, and Im with most of you collectors. I want the new guys (Trent, Hawkins, Reks, Tensai, etc.) but the lines are originally for the kids (6-10). Im a kid, but i dont really care about Orton, Rey, or Cena. The last Mysterio I got, was the Extreme Rules one. Last Cena, was the BoPPV only for MC parts. and before that, was B10. I know Mattel are making them because of the kids, but in my area, no one buys them. One time at a TRU, there was a mom talking to there (i think 8 year old) son on the phone on speaker, and when she said there were 20 Cenas, he said, "I dont care. Do you see any McGullicuttys or Mason Ryan?" There werent any. But Mattel has to realize, that making 389542 Cenas/Ortons/Reys arent gonna make them sell any better.

Nice Thread.
I agree with the OP but at the same time there is always the argument that this site is specifically designed for ppl like us to complain about such things. Also if Mattel could care less about us they would have never made a Legends set at all, or even bother making Flashbacks, or even bother making Elite. I would like to think we contribute something or otherwise they could make WWE figures just as cheap looking as Power Ranger figures and still make a profit.
I think that it is great that the kids get the guys they want, but not all kids just want Cena, Rey, and Orton or otherwise when they play with thier figs they are going to have one hell of a boring PPV. I was a child of the Hasbro Era and yes Ultimate Warrior, and Hulk Hogan were the easier figures to find, but I know as an 8 year old child I would have been pretty upset if those were the only 2 to be had when the back of a package shows the other great figures with an explosive font that reads "Collect Them All!".
If anything the kids have it the hardest because Elites are too expensive for some parents, Basics and BPs don't get restocked enough, and yes there is Flex Force, but they only make the big named guy in FF form. What if a kid wanted Yoshi Tatsu, or even some one bigger like Sin Cara? They are SOL. Don't tell me no kid wouldn't want a Sin Cara figure right now if they could get one. Let's not forget kids are fans not marks so if they like a certain wrestler even if we think, a retailer thinks, or even Mattel thinks said wrestler is less than stellar the kids still want his figure. Kids are the target audience but that doesn't mean kids are stupid an their purchases will be satisfied by only having Cena, Orton, and Rey. I would like to think that kids too want a good roster of figures, especially the ones they see on TV. BTW, Parents aren't as dumb as we like to think either.
Last point to be made here is that the kids in my area are probably just as sick of this as I am. I could say "good thing Target is loaded with E12 Ortons for the sake of the children that wan't one" but I don't because it is the same amount of the same figures every day for the past 2 to 3 months. Obviously the kids got their goods, and they too are waiting on guys like Brodus Clay, Sin Cara, or even the Bellas but it isn't happening. Mattel just needs to limit what the retailers want. Retailers who BTW are neither collectors or children, and are probably to wraped up in their lives to pay any kind of attention to what their own children like.

The problem is not that there are to many Cena/Orton/Mysterio figures being put into cases but that Mattel ships 3 or 4 Basic series at a time with Those three spaced every other series, as well as 2 or 3 Elite series at a time. If Mattel spaced those characters out more or re-modeled their distribution patterns for only two series of Basics and Elites to hit the pegs at a time the figures would not pile up so fast.
