Nothing wrong with considering it. The problem is with considering it seriously.

I think you're taking it far too seriously. The fact is, as a filmmaker, I will tell you that without conversations like this, the movies that we all go to watch wouldn't exist at all. The best concepts come from asking "out of the box" questions. Is it ridiculous? Sure. I believe in aliens. But does the government control Hollywood? Do aliens control the government? etc, etc, etc...it's all a bit far-fetched. But without that far-fetched thought process, we creative folks would be flipping burgers at McDonalds. Instead of looking at it as "being idiots"...be thankful that people exist who think this way. That's all I have to say about that. There's a big difference in being creative and believing crap that's not even plausible is actually true. yea, like really...that's quite the spin on it to justify extreme views.

So being creative and open to different ideas and concepts is just a spin to justify extreme views? -- See, because I was under the impression that some of the greatest artistic work in the history of man kind was done under the influence of mind-altering substances DESIGNED to "open your mind"... I would rather sit here and give thought to the POSSIBILITY, and let my mind wander, and hope in return I get something fascinating to run with -- than be like "That's impossible, why even bother following that train of thought?" and have no creative outlet for an idea. Maybe the Government has direct influence of Hollywood and the productions it creates. Maybe they've slowly been using subliminal messaging and psychological persuasion to inundate us with views, ideas, and concepts that we may not have been open to accepting before hand? There are men in black standing on set whispering in the Directors' ear that perhaps they should change this word, or this shot, or this character, and it would be best. And all the Director knows is that this individual was sent from the studio. Or maybe come to find out, aliens are in fact in control of everything, and politicians/hollywood are used to create a "slave" mindset so that we continue to move along in an orderly fashion throughout our existence so we can be used either for their amusement or sociological/scientific experiment? Come on, guys. Is this all ridiculous? Sure. But my entire point is that it's FUN to take that sort of stuff and just run with it. Just sit back, let your mind wander and see what it comes up with. That's what being an artist is about. Finding out how deep that proverbial rabbit hole goes.

If you bring this kind of stuff up, apparently you're automatically a nutcase in a tinfoil hat. It's sad that you can't even consider and ponder absurd concepts without being considered insane yourself. Honestly, I don't think I've seen one instance in this thread of anyone saying that they believe any of this is actually occurring, but yet some people apparently selectively read what they want to, and then come away with the impression that you fully and completely believe that the US government is pulling Hollywood's strings, and making us all warm up to the concept of an alien invasion. It's ridiculous, but that's why i didn't want to even get involved in this thread; I knew that all the people who can't have a fun, wholly hypothetical conversation, would come swarming in and do what they do worst.

You guys keep using words like absurd, yet I don't think you fully understand the meaning.
ab·surd [ab-surd, -zurd] adjective 1. utterly or obviously senseless, illogical, or untrue; contrary to all reason or common sense; laughably foolish or false: an absurd explanation.
So, you call this entire thing absurd, but you are still taking the topic seriously. I think think that's a little contradicting.
