So I've had my iPod Classic for a while now [bought it on 12-26-07] and it has never had any issues until now.
I have tons of songs on it and I don't want most of them to go away so I wanted to get info on this issue before I do something that would really piss me off. I hope there are some smart people that can help me here.
When I am not using my iPod it is turned off and the lock tab on the top of it is pushed so that it doesn't turn on and lose battery life when I am not using it.
Last night when I went to plug it into my laptop it had its normal screen but it wouldn't let me move the screen and I noticed a little lock sign in the top corner.
I couldn't even turn it off and the songs were not showing up on iTunes so I just left it on my dresser.
When I just checked it it was dying because it had been on for a long time without being turned off. So I plugged it into to my laptop again to charge it.
The screen for the iPod now has this stupid circle with a slash through it that says, 'Do not disconnect' and on iTunes the error message that popped up when I was charging it said. "iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode. You must restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes."
So wtf does this mean?
Will it restore my iPod and erase all of my songs and pictures?
The button that says 'Restore' on iTunes states, "If you are experiencing problems with your iPod you can restore its original settings by clicking 'Restore.'
So again I hope someone knows about this issue because I don't know what to do.
My laptop has had to get fixed twice so far so any of the songs that I have ever had on iTunes are long gone. If it deleted ALL of my songs on my iPod that is going to suck so much.
Any help is appreciated and + karma [unless you want - ] will be given.
