UFW: Unmatched Fury Wrestling
The Beginning
After a falling-out with his father Vincent K. McMahon, Shane McMahon decided to leave WWE and pursue other interests. Many of his endevours failed, with only a few being somewhat successful. Fed up with his mediocore rate of success, he moved back to Connecticut. A few weeks after moving back to his home in Connecticut, his cell-phone rang. He answered it and it was none other than John Bradshaw Layfield. Layfield asked Shane if he's doing anything. Shane said no. Layfield said he has a project he's working on and if Shane would like to be a part of it. Shane asked what the project was. Layfield told him it's a new wrestling promotion. Shane said yes and asked what does he want him to do. Layfield said he wanted him to run the promotion with Layfield backing it financially. Shane said he would love to and asked when does he want to start planning. Layfield said they would start planning next week and Shane said that would be fine. Once they started planning, McMahon said the first thing they need to do is start scouting talent for the promotion. J.B.L asked where should they start. McMahon said they should start at independent promotions across the country. So, the first promotion they go to is Ring of Honor and meet with president Cary Silkin to negotiate talent. McMahon and Layfield manage to sign Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas. After only managing to sign two people, they leave a little dissapointed. But, they get a phone call from Curt Hawkins who was recently released from his contract with World Wrestling Entertainment. He says he heard they were starting a promotion and wanted to join. He got their approval and was officially signed to a contract. Along with Hawkins they also signed others that were recently released from their WWE contracts. Zack Ryder, Drew McIntyre, Tyson Kidd and Tyler Reks were now part of the UFW roster. These signings showed McMahon and Layfield that maybe they could actually make this work. Now that they had abit of steam, they decided to try their hand at the second biggest wrestling company in the United States and went to Nashville Tennessee, headquarters of Total Nonstop Action Wrestling. There they met with company founder Jeff Jarrett and president Dixie Carter. McMahon and Layfield thought if they could sign away some talent from a major company like WWE and now TNA, they would be "off to the races". As they sat down with Jarrett and Carter to discuss talent negotiations Jarrett asked what kind of people were they looking for. J.B.L said they wanted someone who could bring excitement to their new promotion. Someone who's willing to take risks to shoot straight to the top. Jarret named a few people he thought could do that. A.J. Styles, Samoa Joe, Christopher Daniels, and Kazarian. Both parties came to an agreement, and Stlyes, Joe, Daniels and Kazarian were all now offically part of the roster. Although they had signed these great wrestlers, they still didn't have a big enough roster. Until, again more wrestlers were released from their WWE contracts. Randy Orton, Dolph Ziggler, Sin Cara, Wade Barrett, William Regal and Evan Bourne. They also had several wrestlers from different promotions across the world agree to ocassional appearances to wrestle. Now that they have a roster and J.B.L had already purchased a ring, they were set to lift Unmatched Fury Wrestling off the ground and change the sport of professional wrestling forever.
