What are your thoughts on the now defunct WWF Hardcore Division?  I, for one, loved it in the beginning. I loved the unpredictable matches and the fact that it was totally different from other matches on the show. I also loved the fact that it gave so many mid-carders something to do. I liked the 24/7 rule at first but I wish they would have ended it after Crash Holly's run. It ended up making the belt a TOTAL joke and people quit caring. What are your thoughts? Did you love it? Hate it? Miss it? Favorite memories or matches? |

Did it have some memorable moments? Yes. Shane McMahon vs Steve Blackman comes to mind, and I was always a fan of the triple threat at WMXVII. But...
That's pretty much it. I've never been one of those people who are completely against hardcore wrestling, but I'm very against it being done on a regular basis. Imagine the WrestleMania X ladder match if that kind of stuff was common place, like it was when the Hardcore Title was around. It wouldn't have been special.
So, it was fun for awhile, but I'm glad it's no longer around.

Yeah it was a great thing because it only happend for a short period of time. Had it not been around for the short period of time it was then we would have gotten tired of it quickly

Yeah the 24/7 rule made it an absolute joke, Raven is like 25 times Hardcore champ 26 time Hardcore Champion  I hated the 24/7 Rule. However, the division gave us the Triple Threat at Mania X-7 and then Rhyno vs Raven from Backlash 01. I think it was kind of overkill 75% of the time. It was just one of those things that sounded cool in theory, and gave us some pretty hilarious and cool moments, but overall, I think there was plenty of poor execution around that title. Plus, it started out as a joke to begin with when Foley got the title so it stayed on that level. I would have much rather seen guys like Raven, Rhyno and Taz be used around the IC Title level and then use hardcore matches to make those feuds and matches unique. I think WCW did a great job giving us a reason why Raven and DDP should be in a cage with 50 weapons. WWE never did that with their "hardcore" division. Hardcore and Cruiserweight wrestling was just not something WWE really ever understood imo, especially from a creative standpoint. |

I loved the 24/7 rule. The title wasn't meant to be taken seriously and the 24/7 rule allowed more guys to get TV time who otherwise wouldn't have gotten any. Watching guys like Crash, Blackman, and Raven trying to find ways to keep the title was great and the segments kept the show fresh IMO by brining the action backstage or outside the arena instead of constantly being in the ring. Get rid of the US and World Heavyweight titles and bring back the Hardcore title to freshen the show up.

Yeah I loved the 24/7 rule as well. The title was meant to be a joke to begin with, remember Vince giving the broken ass title to Mick Foley as a consolation to him. I liked it because it gave a wide array of wrestlers the opportunity to be involved who probably wouldn't have been on TV otherwise.
I've said this before, but I feel the MITB has become the 24/7 rule of the WWE. I thinks its devalued the belt tremendously, a belt that is supposed to be taken seriously and the most prized belt in wrestling.

I liked it, it was entertaining, some of the matches were fun and 24/7 segments were funny such as Brisco holding the title. Whilst that took any credibility away from the title, it made it a lot of fun to watch.

It was cool the first couple of years but now it has just devalued the top titles IMO w/ 2 guys holding it each year and cashing in whenever they want, which is usually on a knocked out or injured champ. Those are suppose to be the top titles and MITB hurts them, while the Hardcore Title was suppose to be a joke, and the 24/7 rule worked to keep things fresh. |

I think the 24/7 rule would have been great without everyone and they're momma getting involved. I think if it was kept more towards the Hardcore guys H Holly,C Holly,Raven,Al Snow,Big Bossman, Road Dogg,Saturn,Rhyno,Taz,Blackman.
But bringing in the Headbangers,Kai-En-Tai,Mean Street Posse,Godfather's Ho was just stupid.
I think Big Show and Kane were to high up on the card to be doing Hardcore Title matches.

I kinda liked it and kinda hated it.
People like Billy Gunn and The Bulldog should have been no where near the belt.

Great design with the title. Hahaha.... A little off topic, but back around 2001, FigInc. started making some very good replica belts, which I bought a few. They ran between $150-200. They had a Hardcore belt, that was beat up and broken, for $200. Same price as a pristine replica. Always thought it was funny that they tried getting away with that. |

Agreed 100%. Its sad but true that a talent as great as Raven was wasted in the WWF. Hell, even WCW used him better. The guy should have been at the very minimum a top mid-carder. but instead was wasted in the lower card during his WWF run. I did enjoy his time in TNA though and was glad to see him win the NWA World Title. |
