WWF 1996 Best Year???

I think 1996 was good, but I feel that 1997 was definitely a better year than 1996.

Where as 1996 did have a lot of cool things like Diesel turning heel, HBK winning the WWE Title, and the war between Mankind and the Undertaker, it also had the likes of Freddie Joe Floyd, TL Hopper, Salvatore Sincere, the new Razor and the new Diesel.

1996 started out strong, but got really weak around July.

1997-1998 were far better years IMO. Much edgier storylines, in-ring action was just as good as 1996, and all around more entertaining. Shawn Michaels was good in the ring, and I loved him as a heel in the 90s, but as a face he was boring and his constant in-ring tantrums put a black spot on a lot of his matches in 1996. Bret was gone most of the year, Hall and Nash were gone not long after WM12, Vader was fed to Shawn, and Taker was too busy feuding w/ Mankind to contribute to the main event in 1996. I'm one of the few who probably enjoyed 1995 more than 1996.

the New Generation is my favorite era, and 1996 was my favorite year ever in the WWF I am glad that other fans love it as well.

1997 was unequivocally WWF's best year ever imo. However, I loved pretty much all of 94-96, as that was when I really got hooked on pro wrestling. I was praying we would get another one of those Raw The Beginning DVD sets, as the 93&94 set, specifically 94, was like reliving my childhood. Getting 95-98 would have been incredible.

yeah pretty much.....in late 96 things were starting to take shape for sure but there were still some serious blips occurring frequently.

96 on the whole had some great moments and matches but 97 is where the greatness truly started.

Nah I liked him as Eric's best friend. Plus dude was in Step by Step lol. But could you imagine Sid trying to teach English.

It was a decent year, but 1997 is the best year of the 90s by far in my opinion for both WWE and WCW- Steve Austin vs. The Hart Foundation, debut of The Rock, didn't really like the endless faction warfares in WWE, but the good outweighed the bad. WCW had Sting vs. the nWo, personal favorite of mine-Randy Savage vs. DDP-good stuff, The Outsiders as Tag Champs. Don't forget ECW really exploding at the time-the Raven vs. Tommy Dreamer feud, Taz vs. Sabu, RVD's rise, etc. I liked 1998 as well, but I am in the minority that enjoyed WCW more. It started off slow with the Royal Rumble, but picked up steam around the night after Fatal Four Way where the Bret Hart vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin feud grew into a more rivalry. So many excellent things about 1997. 96's best thing was Diesel vs. Shawn Michaels at IYH: Good Friends, Better Enemies. HBK was a solid champion and is one of the best, but his run from 2002-2010 was MUCH better mostly because he had ditched his old ways. To be honest, when I think 1996, the first thing that always comes up is Bash at the Beach, the Hostile Take-Over, and Hulk Hogan's heel turn.
