You don't win fights by running. I honestly don't give a sh*t how you look at it. AND Maynard threw less punches than Guida and landed more. Poor Clay. Interesting when Guida said he wanted to see the FightMetrics for it, and it proves that Gray won soundly. I REALLY don't see how you can win by running for 25 minutes. Seriously. And after the fight Guida tries to turn it around "I DON'T BITCH ABOUT SH*T! YOU PULLED MY HAIR TWICE!" Dude, do you not remember the 14 times you poked Gray in the eye? I ing can't STAND Gray Maynard, but I'm calling a spade a spade here.

Watching this fight again, I really see now that Guida is just like Dominick Cruz. Uses an overt amount of movement to fool people into thinking he's being active. Who the bobs & weaves while you're 8 feet away from the guy? lol

finally got around to watching this... i was exhausted after work the last two days, and since i didnt watch 147 on my tv, i had to watch it when i did, so this got put on the backburner til i had the energy.
scoring this as i watch, just not gonna waste everyones time by posting round by round
round 1... 10-10, stalemate round. feeling out round, fairly even, both guys pushed their own paces. guida mightve thrown more, but i dont think either one hit a very significant shot. if anything, i thought maynard had the 2 best strikes, but guida probably hit a couple more. too close to differentiate.
round 2... 10-9 maynard. close round, guida probably had the best strike, the head kick late, but maynard stalked the entire round and i thought he landed a little more.
round 3... 10-9 maynard. landed the most, and had the biggest strike with the knee late. its one thing for guida to win these rounds based on gameplan, if hes actually doing any damage with it. he isnt landing much at all though.
round 4... 10-9 maynard. he won standing, and then the guillotine was tight, although that was a ridiculous escape from guida. then guida ends up on top, but only had a couple shoulder strikes. guida closes on top, but maynard won the rest of the round.
round 5... 10-9 guida. ironically, the round hes called for running away, i thought he did his best striking. maynard had the last minute and a half, but he really didnt do much against the cage til those 2 knees, which were nice, but he did nothing the first 3 and a half.
49-47 maynard... if i had scored round 4 to guida, which i thought was plausible, id have had it a draw. i was really warming up to kenny florian throughout this show... til this fight. im completely unsure what fight he was watching, as he was lauding clay guida's striking the entire time, and then said round 5 was his weakest round. guida's work in the cage looked very pretty, but maynard did the damage.

Yeah man. Guida was for sure trying to win that fight with everything he had!

by the way, I LOVED when Gray went all Stockton on Guida for a few seconds. That made me a fan.

What was Guida supposed to do? Stand there and get hit by Maynard the whole time? He fought back when he needed to, engaged when he needed to, landed good strikes and made Gray look stupid by being able to get out of the way of everything he threw.
Sorry he couldn't please everyone by being a punching bag.

...that was just a horrible fight - what the hell has happened to Guida? He's gone from being an exciting, fan-friendly fighter to... this? I like seeing fighters outbox and out-smart their opponents - but for the most part, this was just running... and hardly doing anything else. I'm not a fan of Maynard, but was kind of glad when he got the decision... maybe the judges are sending out a message that they're not going to put up with these sort of tactics.

Running around. Pulling hair. Flipping birds.
All in all, I still say Clay won the first 3 rounds, which gives him the win. MMA should be judged round by round, instead of collectively as a fight. I'm well aware that they are "judged round by round", but not really. Instead of treating each round as it's own bout, things like momentum from previous rounds comes into play and fighters are awarded rounds they didn't actually win just because of the previous or next round.

no way guida won the 3rd round. that was probably the most decisive round of the fight.
