I have created this topic because I'm confused and would really like people thoughts/predications/discussion on where you think the Mattel WWE line/s in general are going. Do you think Mattel will renew there contract with WWE? I'm not so sure...I get the feeling the WWE contract as a whole isn't doing aswell as they expected or hoped really. With the resecession and declining popularity in wrestling in the last 5 to 10 years I think Mattel couldnt have picked a worse time... They have done themselves proud on what they have produced with the quality of there figures but then again the prices and international supply have been falling points... The loss of the Legends/Defining Moments and entrance greats so early on can't have helped. But then I hear that here in the UK sales of WWE merch has gone up a whopping 15% due to Mattel so...mixed reports. How are they going to get Legends out without a Legends line? I personally have no idea... There seems to be only 1 Flashback in the Elites series most of the time and there's about 3 versions of Undertaker and HBK still wanted plus the Warriors and Macho mans...that pretty much fills your flashbacks till the contract runs out... The Legends line has got to be dead now with Mattel saying there wasn't enough sold to make a subscription on Matty.com. Mattel have also said no further contracts will be signed with Legends for figures to be made... But then you look at the availibility of Mattels last Flashbacks Yokozuna, Kevin Nash, Diesel and you can't find them for under $60 online.... You have Flashbacks selling out of there backorders of backorders before pictures have been released. Finding them in the UK in stores is tuff too. I just don't understand what's going on Or what will be the course for the future of Legends... Many of you will say wait for SDCC but I'd like to hear your thoughts now... I have become a massive fan of Elites and Legends over the last 2 years and want my hobby to continue healthily. I'd like to have a much bigger Legends and Elite display in the future but think only the latter will be accomplished. I know we Legends fans are in small number but we matter too! the op

I wish we could go a couple of weeks without one of these doom and gloom threads. Mattel has said that as long as they have the license, they will find a way to make older characters ... whether they're called Legends, Flashbacks, whatever ... they're not going to abandon us, even if the quantities are less than what we want. Everyone should take a deep breath. Mark You made me feel better Thanks Mark. Let's hope they have figured out a good way of releasing Legends. I really would like more Legends per year I just hope they find a way that makes everyone happy (meaning us collectors and themselves)... If you read between the lines it doesn't fill me with confidence though...

im confused.
They already found TWO ways to get legends to us.
Legends on Matty & Flashbacks.
legends on matty will probably get cancelled. Hopefully they can give us a definate 2 Flashbacks per elite series. Instead of staggering between 1 & 2 every other series.
The flashbacks have been better. Not to mention $10 cheaper than the legends.

I hear your concerns, as a mostly Legends collector, and though I used to get really annoyed about the current state the fact that Mattel said that once is reassuring. It may never be ideal, but I'm sure they won't leave us completely in the dark. Hopefully we'll see some sweet stuff at SDCC. Mark P.S. Love the sig!

Call me cynical after taking ten tons of s*** for being a diva collecter here over the years, but I think its hilarious that Legends collecters are now having to deal with the same frustrations I have in my hobby. Especially the ones who pick fights and constantly question what other members do with their money. Even though YOU buy something and YOU think its the greatest thing happening in the line, YOU are not the only one buying figures. I've been waiting for a Gail Kim figure from either Jakks or Mattel for 10 years now and its probably never going to happen, but I never fooled myself into thinking there was more of a demand for it then there actually was just because I wanted one.

I just think they need to pack Flashbacks two to a case if they are still going every other wave or whatever. Big Bossman was hard to find.

Ill agree with the original poster on prices.
IMO, basic singles are a bit overpriced, especially since they do not come with accessories and not as much articulation as they could. They are about a dollar or two (US prices) more than they should be. Then 2packs offer no real savings anymore over just buying the two figures individually.
Then the flexforce stuff is just way overpriced for what they are!!

All your points are exactly why I lost complete faith in Mattel after having EVERY elite style figure all the way up to E13. I sold them all off and made about $2000 and put the money towards another hobby. I gave up on Mattel WWE figs because IMO the figures are becoming almost impossible to find anywhere, they're too expensive, and the quality of the figures/names coming out currently are just not like they started out to be. Sorry Mattel, it was fun while it lasted, but screw you guys for slacking off!!! This guy says it almost perfectly... PRICES !! thats it. I would like to see the numbers on the Legends when they were at 15.99 as oppose to now at 12.99 retail. I bet you it did better at 12.99 , people cant afford them. I can hardly afford to buy them. I remeber a guy at a register telling me "Ha i dont think id pay 10 for this (Del Rio Elite)" I thought to myself your right, i cant belive im paying 12.00 for it (sale)..lol... But its all we have. I hate Jakks so when i do fnd figs in stores or for good prices i buy one at least. And scalpers make it harder... they ruin the market. I suggest hunting retail stores until you have no more money for gas.. ;D thats how i got most of mine by beating others to the punch

I think the Flashbacks are doing pretty well... they always seem to disappear off the shelves very quickly and seem in high demand (ie. expensive!) on various internet and auction sites. Part of the reason might be because they're making more well-known/popular guys now for retail (Mankind, Diesel, Yokozuna, Bossman, etc.). Ideally I'd like to see 2 Flashbacks in every Elite wave - and also another 6 online/Matty Legends (and 2-pk). And remember, the Legends line at retail (had it continued) was only going to be 4 figures per-series - with around 4 series per year... so with about 9 Flashbacks, 6 Legends and a Legends 2-pack, we're basically getting the same amount of figures anyway. Bill from Mattel said they are always going to find a way of getting the older wrestlers/characters released...

Imagine your a 7 year old again and you are a huge wrestling fan, you walk in to get you favorite wrestler in the world (Hulk Hogan for kids back then) only to see some dude named Bruno, bob buckland, gorgeous george? where the heck are all the Hulks(Cenas)!?

Distribution sucks now with Mattel, it's no secret, but atleast we have Flashbacks and they seem to be selling well.
