McGillicutty is severely underrated. Hennig name or not, I'd love to see him moved up the card.

The name McGillicutty has grown on me. I actually like it now. Also.. McGillicutty is not just some random name, it's his mother's maiden name.Anyway, that's good news. I hope things look up for him soon. Could've sworn that is how they (commentary) explained the name "McGillicutty" on NXT like 2 years ago. I could be wrong, but I don't really pay attention to wrestling gossip, so I don't know where I would have heard that. (probably on WFIGS, lol) *edit* Yep, I was right.. that is how WWE explained the McGillictty name. Listen at about the 1 minute mark to Michael Cole & Josh Mathews. I don't believe it is REALLY his mother's maiden name though after doing some research. |

Even if they do change his name to Joe Hennig, I doubt he will get a decent push out of it. He will never get a decent push |

It makes sense not to bring him in fresh as Henning, but when he comes back to the main roster I think he needs to just be Joe Henning. Its interesting though that they never had him job in the recent squash matches. I've heard a lot of rumors about Vince not being satisfied with the "look" of the current main eventers, with them being too small, but Joe is a really solid size and build so maybe they have big plans for him down the road.

The fact that the WWE won't let anybody use their real names anymore and they come up with goofy names that they can trademark is just kinda sad and petty. Has their ownership of the Dudley Boyz name prevented Bully Ray from kicking ass - no. It's Vince's paranoid need to control everything which gets us Mike McG. Not saying that if he went by Joe Hennig he would be a lot more over or anything - it would just be less lame. What about the names Mr. Perfect, Hulk Hogan, Ultimate Warrior, IRS, The Mountie, The Undertaker, Razor Ramon, 1-2-3 Kid or Diesel? WWE has been creating completely new personas for their superstars ever since the 80's. We didn't get Curt Hennig, we got Mr. Perfect. We didn't get Mike Rotundo, we got IRS. |
