During an interview with Arda Ocal of The Score Television Network, Larry "The Axe" Hennig (father of "Mr Perfect Curt Hennig and grandfather of Michael McGillicutty) said he was initially not happy about his grandson not using the Hennig name, but was told by Vince McMahon that there is a plan for him to eventually take the name.

I hope Vince ain't just lying to him. I get the whole "use a random name and get over on your own" thing, but come on. The name is very ridiculous and the poor guy is stuck on NXT. That being said, they might actually have plans for him because they never fed him to Brodus/Ryback/Sin Cara like they did all their other lowcard heels.
Micheal has a lot to offer, and he's improve greatly since the beginning of the start of the starting moment from now on from this moment forward of the Genesis of McGillicutty. The Hennig name will do nothing but help him, and I honestly hope he gets another chance.

Michael McGillicutty is almost the single worst wrestler name EVER.
Now I'm not saying he needs to be "Mr. Perfect v.2" but at this point ANYTHING is better than McGillicutty

I can't get behind a wrestler who has a stupid name like Michael McGillicutty
Give him the Joe Hennig name and an IC title. Move him onto Raw and give him the push he deserves. He's actually a talented guy. Let him show it.
They're wasting so much time with the likes of Ryback and it's not fair when these talented midcarders never get to show their true potential.
What Vinnie Mac seems to not comprehend; is that the crowd is not interested in seeing big muscular freaks who can't wrestle. They'd rather see a CM Punk than a Ryback.

Beulah McGillicutty from ECW....
I really hope that the WWE changes his name, but it will probably lead to him getting some undeserved time off. As much as I like Joe Hennig I can't see Michael McGillicutty as a name next to John Cena, the Rock, Stone Cold etc as a WWE champion. Now if they wanted him to be Michael Hennig or even Joe Hennig then I am more than happy for him. He has come a long long way during his short stint in WWE and I really want him to truly excel.

Guess you missed the "Feed Me More" chants...? I like him, but I don't think a name change is anything that will help him. He'll still be in the same position he is now, just as Joe Hennig. |

I see what Vince did and i like it. He made Michael work for the name Hennig. I remember reading something around a year ago saying that Vince told Michael Mcguillicuty he has to earn the name. And for those of you who dont watch his matches, believe me, he has improved a ton.

The fact that the WWE won't let anybody use their real names anymore and they come up with goofy names that they can trademark is just kinda sad and petty. Has their ownership of the Dudley Boyz name prevented Bully Ray from kicking ass - no. It's Vince's paranoid need to control everything which gets us Mike McG.
Not saying that if he went by Joe Hennig he would be a lot more over or anything - it would just be less lame.

This might just be a silly rumour but apparently Triple H has taken a great liking to him in the WWE, that could mean something... May not be much but could be better than what he is doing currently, I really do hope the name does get changed...
