Hello All, I am from today on trying to make a change in my appearance. Im fifteen years old. Around maybe 5'10 in height and I am trying to drop some pounds. I currently weigh roughly 170, no type of abs or anything. I want to loose weight badly, I think this all started when I got hooked on xbox 360 in 2007. I gained alot of weight and this may be all having to do with my depression, which ive had since 5th grade(Currently in 10th now.) I want easy ways to drop some pounds, any help is welcomed. Ill upload pics at a later time. Thanks all ( : Pic:

Hey buddy, I just want to wish you good luck on your journey.
Unfortunately, I can't really tell you that there are 'easy' ways to drop pounds. Sure, you could drastically cut calories (which is what I first did last Autumn) but that will eat away at muscle and such. 170 and 5'10'' honestly doesn't sound that bad, to me at least. If it's a matter of shaping up, I would honestly try some serious weightlifting. Cardio is also a must if you want to lose the pounds. I prefer interval training or sprints. They are quicker and more intense than just jogging for a couple miles. If you're lifting for the first time, you can lose fat and still see some considerable weight gains. Watch your diet every day. I'm not going to get into a rant about soy/vegetable oil/high fructose corn syrup (even though I believe everyone should totally avoid that junk), but just watch out for the excessive sugars. Things like candy and soda should be automatically axe'd. Use your judgement.
I PMed another member on here asking for help with a big long detailed ranty thing, but I don't wanna sound too preachy. Let me know if you want me to send you a modified version of that PM.
I may just be another "broscientist," but the whole weight loss deal is kind of my thing. On August 7, 2011 I weighed 330+ pounds. This morning I weighed in at 212 (reached 203.5 in late June and am now trying to bulk up and reach a decent strength level). Your journey doesn't sound as drastic as mine, but long story short, if I were you I would do strength training on one day, cardio on the other days, and maybe a day of rest.

Well I gained a bit of weight when I broke my right foot. So after my foot healed I started riding the stationary bike for 10 miles until I lost the weight.

5-10, 170 lbs is a healthy weight.
Just go ride your bike or take a walk more often if you feel outta shape. You may be slightly overweight (not even sure about that honestly), but you aren't in a bad spot.
Easy way to drop about 15 lbs... quit drinking soda.

Thanks all ( : Losing fat weight and getting abs are two different things because abs are muscles and while you do need to shed fat for the abs to show through you also need to build your ab muscles as well as other muscles because men with killer abs also have killer bodies in general because you need to be in shape to have those GQ Abs. At 5'10 170 lbs your BMI ( Body Mass Index ) is 24.4. Regarding BMI for males 18.5 and under is considered underweight and a marker for anorexia which, believe it or not, is not a female exclusive illness by any means and in fact due to the shame associated with mental illness combined with societal beliefs that look down upon male thinness most cases go unreported which is extremely dangerous because anorexia has one of the highest risks for death of any mental illness with over 1 in 5 sufferers eventually dying from the disorder and a disproportionate number of those deaths are of men because anorexia is extremely difficult/next to impossible to beat without treatment and with fewer men seeking treatment for the disorder this accounts for that higher number. If you are looking to go down this road please seek help because the prognosis only gets worse with time. 18.5 - 24.9 on the scale indicates a normal and healthy range for the average male. 25 - 29.9 is considered overweight and anything over 30 indicates obesity.

Go for a lot of walks. Cut out soda. Have smaller meals throughout the day but DON'T starve yourself. Yogurt, trail mix bars, and salad are you best friends as far as snacks go. Don't take in any calories after dark. Although I always break that last rule :3
Good luck!

No sugary beverages and drink only water and milk, eat a lot of fiber and protein (protein/fiber bars, some cereals, greek yogurt), eat small meals every 3-4 hours to keep your metabolism going, and exercise as much as you can. I ran a mile a day last summer and started eating healthy and ended up losing 40 pounds. I was pretty much the same weight as you, but I'm a few inches shorter. You may have to work harder than me, but as long as you push yourself, you'll succeed.

Watch your Calories and exercise.
Losing weight is simply that easy. People try to come up with all this elaborate stuff and things to do. Just set yourself a daily calorie limit, and burn more calories then you intake.

I'm 5'10" 175 lbs., which is down from my usual 185. I can give you a little more help after seeing a picture, but I don't see reaching your goals being much of a problem as long as you're willing to commit. Minor changes to your diet and starting up a light cardio routine (jogging, swimming, bike riding, etc.) should get you to where you want to be.

Don't get discouraged! If you're making positive changes, and you feel better, the weight will come off. Cutting down on meals from restaurants and fast food will help.

I'm trying to lose weight too. Oddly, my goal is around 170. I'm 275 right now, so it will take some time. I haven't really started a workout plan yet, but I have improved me diet and lost about 10 pounds in the last month. Hope things work out well for you

When you starve yourself or cut your calories past 1,500 calories (1,200 for women) it will send your body into starvation mode and make future weight loss more difficult as you body doesn't know when to expect food again and it responds by holding onto whatever it can and storing the food it does see as fat.

Bout time I start losing weight, people say I'm not fat, but I'm not exactly thin and I have to be overweight.
I don't really snack on sweets, biscuits or crisps, I eat way too much bread/toast... I easily have 10 pieces a day, it's like my main food.. so I will need to change that up.
I will probably cut down on Soda too, I don't drink teas or coffees.
I love salads and stuff so it's not really a problem there.
and I do a lot of walking, but I do need to exercise more.

Alot depends on genetics and metabolism, but you're always safe cutting some calories, not eating at night and eating less processed foods. You don't have much weight to lose anyway so no biggie.

You're a pretty healthy weight, especially for 15. You've gotta remember that your body is still growing and changing. I wouldn't really diet or anything if I was you. If anything, eat more often, but smaller portions. Eating small meals 6-8 times a day (an apple counts, doesn't have to be steak and potatoes every time) speeds up your metabolism so you burn calories faster. Add in some cardio and you'll notice a huge difference. Just don't do anything crazy at your age.
