He did have some reasons why he was suspicious, but in all I think it was just a big misunderstanding.

I big misunderstanding yes but no one should have to be embarrassed in front of other ppl over another persons mistake. There were 4 other customers and 2 other employees within 10 feet of us when he accused me of stealing . He should have been 100% sure I did something wrong before accusing me. If he had any reason to suspect I did something wrong then he should have had his facts straight before jumping the gun because in the end I did nothing wrong.

While he did handle it wrong, it is always best to take returns to the front counter right away, just to avoid this situation. Since the checkout/customer service is most likely by the front door, someone there should have stopped you or asked you about the merchandise you were bringing in. And for reference, the manager may have been a bit rude about it, but he did not really do anything wrong, and the district manager will back him up on it.
Look at it from their point of view - there are a one of dbags that would simply bring an old receipt in, grab the same figure off the shelf, and then attempt a return. This is what he thought was going on, and was trying to prevent.

My question is , why didnt you just go to CS desk in the 1st place ??
Your whole story is kinda off.. If you werent up to anything why not just go to CS ? This is probaly what crossed there minds. And it being right in front also.. hmmm...
Also if you didnt want the figure...

Go to the counter first and tell them to hold the figure for you. Otherwise, CSB. This exactly. I dont know why anyone would even think about taking a package inside of a store and going to the aisle before returning it. I would have questioned you and anyone else too. Common sense says you go to the service desk, tell them you want to return/exchange it and then ask if they will hold it while you go look.

Ok well, since I am a AP (asset protection) for toys r us, I would have kept an eye on you if I saw you come out of the aisle with a bag and a toy. All to often do people sneak bags in and try to be slick. I would have just given you guest service to see what you could be helped with......but I have to know, what is so embarrassing? You were asked if you brought in that item. Then asked to wait near the cctv room so they could confirm. Not like the tackled you, or strip searched you. If you are seriously embarrassed from that, you need to stop caring what others think......should it have been handled differently? Absolutely. Did they fallow protocol? not the one APs have to fallow. And im sorry you were falsely accused. But in the end it was a mistake, a human error. If you have ever made a mistake then you should understand. Also, everyone always wants the companies to see through their prospective, try seeing the situation through the company prospective. You honestly should have stopped and informed the person at guest services what you were doing.

TRU is really becoming very unprofessional in the way they handle things. I only go there as a last resort. The sad thing is the loss prevention people and workers in there don't care about anything. Make it a bigger issue with their corporate and when they give you receipts with the surveys give them bad marks all around as it shows that their staff is not that great.

So earlier today before work I stopped in to toys r us to return an extra boppv hhh I didn't need so before I go to customer service to return it I check to see if they had anything new and proceeded to the customer service desk to make my return when I didn't find anything I wanted. so as I'm going to return the figure the manager comes to the desk and ask me if I came in with that item! I was so shocked that he even ask that. Then he went on to say that I did not walk in with anything and said that he would check the video again. So I walk to where the office is and hear him say oh that's the wrong guy. So he comes out of the office and tries to play it off like it was no big deal. I don't embarrass easily but this is just ridiculous. I'm not the type of person to get employees in trouble but this is just totally unacceptable so I called customer service and requested a call back from the district manager. Lol sorry about the run on sentence but this is coming from my cellphone and it's a pain This ones your fault. Why would you go into the store on the actual aisle with the item you are returning before you take the merchandise to the return counter? Bad move. I would have questioned you and checked the cameras too. Lesson learned?
