WWE SmackDown Six Let me start by saying that this has been a labour of love! I've been a wrestling fan all my life, a proud old-school NWA/WCW supporter through the 80s and early 90s, but even I lost interest in wrestling for a while, around the time when Vince bought the competition and I didn't really pick it back up until the mid-2000's. Boy did I miss an exciting era in wrestling circa 2002-2003! So just before last Christmas I go really into Smackdown 2002/2003 on youtube. I couldn't believe the 5-star quality matches that were available on free TV! I watched almost every PPV from that year that I could, and then someone on WF mentioned the "Smackdown Six". Huh? If you missed that era and you don't know who the Smackdown Six are, take a read of this retrospective article here. Then I got inspired - I wanted these guys in my Mattel collection. Problem was, Angle wants to retire in TNA so he'll never be made, and well you all know about the other guy. But with a lot of help from WFers on here through trades, deals, and all-around good will, here they are:  Kurt Angle  Recipe Head - Havoc Unleashed Series 1 Kurt Angle Arms - L1 Terry Funk Torso-to-Thighs, Leg Sleeves - WM Jack Swagger Knees - a pair of Rocker knee joints Calves - L4 Paul Orndorff Boots - L4 George Steele Medal - 1996 Barbie Olympic Gold Medal Chris Benoit  Recipe Head - DA Chris Benoit (temporary) Arms - DM4 John Cena Torso - All-Stars SCSA Trunks - L2 Terry Funk Tights - Red Sin Cara Boots - generic mid-size black ones Decals - Best Decals in the World! Still Need - BCA Road to Wrestlemania head Rey Mysterio  Recipe Head - black full-mask with green/red trim for that era Arms - old school Rey arms with gloves and elbow pads for that era Torso - acetoned off his chest and stomach tats for that era Pants - E11 Rey Shirt - E11 Rey, I split apart his upper torso to slip this onto his waist just like he would wear for that era Edge  Recipe All just E13 Edge except... Torso - L2 Terry Funk Eddie Guerrero  Recipe All just L6 Eddie Guerrero, just added the US belt Chavo Guerrero  Recipe Head - E5 Chavo with moustache acetoned off for that era Arms - E5 Chavo Torso - Red Sin Cara Legs - E5 Chavo with extra designs acetoned off for that era (all the matches I saw he only had the two phoenixes on his tights) Well thanks for sticking around til the end. my fav thread of the site bandy i got into wrestling in late 2003 smackdown was my favorite show and I've downloaded the whole year so its great to see these fixups hoping to do some of these myself would LOVE to see more from that era of smackown

Awesome bro, but based on your refrence picture eddy should have longer hair, angle should have red singlet with big superman logo looking A on the front, and rey should be in red black and white mask and gloves. I'm sure for that attire his pants would have been red too so maybe flash rey lower half. Anyways what you have done looks awesome and we all know how much rey changes attire so I'm sure the one you are doing is from then too.

I should have stated that I wasn't aiming for the reference picture, it's just (I'd assume) the official "SmackDown Six" graphic from WWE - at least that's what you find when you Google SmackDown Six. Remember my stuff are fix-ups, i.e. 100% fully playable, no paint, just part swaps with existing parts. So I definitely wouldn't get a superman "A" for Kurt since the only American-themed wrestling singlet right now is from WM Jack Swagger and doesn't match that particular singlet Kurt's wearing in the graphic. Rey presented his own challenges. We're inundated with 100s of shelf-warming Reys but I actually had to get three Reys to make a Rey circa 2002. There are only two elite Reys with 1-colour pants: RSC Exclusive Flash Rey and E11 Rey. I didn't want a "themed" attire like The Flash so E11 is the only choice. He came with the shirt which was bonus, but I still needed to find a basic Rey for the gloves/small elbow pads look that he had in 2002. Finally he wore a full mask back then, but the only full all-black mask WITH red/green trim similar to his E11 gear is from a FlexForce figure (I included the actual pic of the head above). Thank god Rey was pushing his "Booyaka" and "619" back then too so I can get away with the designs on the pants and shirt. I would love a more colourful Rey but E11 was basically all I had to work off of - remember, no paint, just swaps, fully playable. About the only thing I would change if I could would be Eddie Guerrero's head, because you're right he did have a mullet back then. I've seen the Eddie/Jake's hair combo but it's not quite right for the look - it was a complete mullet, i.e. short sides, long tail. |

The Benoit looks great. Too bad there is no great scan of him outside of the Jakks selections. TTL heads seem to look best to me, imo. Absolutely a great set though. Nice job.  |

A 2003 Cena would be easy to do. Simply switch out the current arms w/ white or black wrist taped ones. Worked for me pretty well.
