I picked up the new 4 disc Hero SMV shoot/comp. dvd. I saw the first shoot when it came out, which is also included in this set. Nothing amazing on that....Hero hadnt been around enough at that point. BUT, the NEW shoot, shot last year was AMAZING!!! I am only part way through. He has covered his days in IWA:MS and Chikara. The IWA:MS had a lot of cool info. He talks about Punk IN DEPTH, issues with Punk, friendship that went south and why, Punk being a dick and rekindling his relationship. He also talks in depth about Ian Rotten and shares some cool inside stories about the locker room, being stabbed with a fork, and his thoughts on some of the great talent that has been at IWA:MS and where it all went wrong. BUT, thats not it. See, where it gets really interesting is his comments about Mike Quackenbush, Chikara, Shane Storm and his departure from Chikara and why he was removed as one of the lead trainers. Hero holds NOTHING back. He comes clean on where he ed up and apologizes for his actions. He talks about what makes Chikara great AND what he thinks is majorly wrong with Chikara. He comes across very sincere and honest in this shoot. He is respectful, yet does not pull punches on his feelings towards Quack, how Quack runs things, Chikara and the talent there. Personally, I thought Hero's departure from Chikara was just cuz his ROH schedule and international dates were so full that he couldnt commit to Chikara, as they were really on the rise in 2007. According to Hero....that is NOT why he left. Not sure if anyone else here has heard rumors or stories.....but I was left shocked. Thats as far as I have gotten into it. But this has quickly become one of my favorite shoots, personally. Its not Punk/Joe or London/Kendrick.....but its up there as one of my favorites. I HIGHLY recommend anyone who wants to hear from a guy who has worked the top indy promotions in North America, worked around the world and just loves wrestling.....this one is for you. Controversy, intrigue and fun stories.

Last night I watched the portion that he covers PWG/CZW and started ROH. PWG had some fun stories. Goes into a story about Necro Butcher attacking him and developing a bad rep on the indy scene for something, that this time he was 100% innocent in. He shoots hard on Low Ki and issues with him in PWG.
His shoot on CZW was way more interesting than I thought. He covers the Zandig pushing Mike Burns down the steps, the night he lost to Kingston and left CZW, why Kingston got fired, how much he DESPISES Justice Pain, and some other fun stories. The interview is really in depth and Hero is holds NO punches.
I also started the ROH portion. I got part way through with how he got there, knocks on him, his fans, CZW invasion, Claudio being signed by WWE the first time and having to drop the belts, Claudio returning just weeks after being signed as he was released, the REAL reason Claudio was released, friction between Hero/Claudio, Claudio/Drug Rumors, Hero's stance on steroids, Gabe being fired and then his potential firing from ROH following Gabe's. Again....he does NOT hold back. His comments concerning steroids are a bit controversial.....but dude is being upfront and honest with his opinions.
I will say this shoot is the most INTRIGUING of all the ones I have seen.

7 hours later and its done. There is a false finish in this dvd...LOL!!! They end it, say goodbye and then come back after finding more tape. Hero describes watching Misawa die in the ring at the end, JC Bailey's death and of course Larry Sweeney's death.

I found the part about Quack giving Hero a $5 raise amusing.

I found the part about Quack giving Hero a $5 raise amusing. I found it shocking. I was surprised at how little he was making at that time. Figured he commanded like $125 a show.

I like that he admitted that Quack sends out emails burying other wrestlers to people but not to those people he is actually talking about. I had heard of one instance before where Quack sent out one email burying El Generico.

I like that he admitted that Quack sends out emails burying other wrestlers to people but not to those people he is actually talking about. I had heard of one instance before where Quack sent out one email burying El Generico. I've heard some horror stories about Quack too. I certainly dont know the guy that well, but I have had many of an interaction with him and he has never given me a reason to believe any of it. Hero comes across very raw and honest in this shoot, so not sure what to believe. I try to judge people on my own experience with each one. But Hero is far from the first person to say something bad about Quack. I just file it in the back of my head, but base everything off of how I am treated. And Quack has always treated me pretty damn good. Hero does make good points about Chikara workers not working many other places and how their gimmicks work well for Chikara, but not so well other places. I also never knew about the heat between Hero and Quack. I always thought Hero cutback on Chikara b/c of the ROH opportunity.

There are quite a bit of workers that dont like Quack. I remember Devon Moore in particular and I know there were some problems with Quack and Sami Callihan that caused Callihan to not be the last member of the BDK as planned.

Sami was originally Vokoder. You can tell by the early Vokoder matches that it was Sami under the hood, just how he was wrestling.

Quackenbush said on his most recent podcast, flat out that Hero was a liar on his accounts of falling out with Quack and leaving Chikara.

Next thing you know is that Quack is going to deny sending out emails burying people even though other wrestlers have also said that he does that.
