I'm making this thread so we can talk about the whole card in general, as well as the recent happenings involving Jones. Ahhh... well, I don't think I have to explain anything here. The injury bug is still in full effect and Dan Henderson, who was to face Jon Jones for the Light Heavyweight title, has been the latest victim. Long story short: UFC 151 has been cancelled, and Lyoto Machida was originally going to step in and fight Jones at 152, but ultimately declined, and now we have former Light Heavyweight champion and top 5 Middleweight, Vitor Belfort stepping up to the plate and moving UP a weight class to fight the champ. I think it's an awesome card. I am now over 151 being cancelled (as the month of September for boxing is INSANE anyway, so that will keep me occupied) and looking very forward to the Toronto card. UFC 152 "JONES VS. BELFORT", 8/22/2012 (PPV/FX/Facebook.com Stream/SportsNet) Air Canada Centre, Toronto Ontario Canada1. Welterweight bout: Kyle Noke vs. Charlie Brenneman 2. Welterweight bout: Sean Pierson vs. Lance Benoist 6. Lightweight bout: TJ Grant vs. Evan Dunham 7. Light Heavyweight bout: Igor Pokrajac vs. Vinny Magalhães 8. Featherweight bout: Cub Swanson vs. Charles Oliveira 9. Light Heavyweight bout: Matt Hamill vs. Roger Hollett 10. Middleweight bout: Michael Bisping vs. Brian Stann 11. Flyweight Championship: Joseph Benavidez vs. Demetrious Johnson 12. Light Heavyweight Championship: Jon Jones (c) vs. Vitor Belfort

yes, i think it was flying under the radar just how awesome this card is now, when all the news first broke. two title fights, a potential eliminator at 185, a knockout waiting to happen at 205 [vladdy/hamill], do bronx/cub should be a war, and jimy hettes is one of those young studs on the come up. definite buy for me.

It actually kinda works out. I mean, it sucks royally that the other fighters from the 151 card have to wait and can't get paid, but now it looks like he Flyweights will get some attention now that Jones is the headliner.

I'm hoping Vinny has a good showing, I love jiu jitsu guys and he's got some slick in BJJ. Pretty good card.

I say they go old school on Jones in the wake of 151, and he has to have one arm tied behind his back.
Seems fair.

And I bet you that IF Belfort wins, we're gonna see Silva vs. Belfort II at 205.

Highly unlike that Belfort does win, he'll get taken down and then TKO'd or submitted me thinks.

Very unlikely. But Belfort's got great hand speed. He just needs to not be intimidated by Jones.

I don't think that it's so much an intimidation factor when a guy goes in with Jones at the start of the fight. It's the fact every time someone tries to engage Jones with fists, they risk running in to an eye poke with the way Jon leaves his hands out, and in addition to that he uses those kicks to the front of his opponents knees. So after they have been demoralised over and over again by not being able to get on the inside, it just results in Jones being able to get loose and do his thing. I might be totally wrong on that mind you but it seems to be an on going scenario. Sherdog considers it a bit dirty on Jons part, but meh its' not illegal and smart on the champs part considering his reach. Let's just hope that Vitor can come blazing in and rip Jones head off eh?

...so am I the only one rooting for Jones? I know he's a heel and all that now, but he's still an awesome talent. Props to Vitor for taking the fight, but I'll be surprised if he makes it out the second round.

Rooting for Jones? Not even a little. Doesn't change the fact that I don't think Belfort will make it past 3 rounds with him.

I have very little interest in the LHW division, so I can't say I'm rooting for any one person. I will say, that similar to other undefeated fighters, I'm always interested in seeing what it takes to put someone like that out and how they rebound.
In my opinion, unless you spent money on tickets or lodging for 151, spent money on PPV that can't be refunded, or you are a figher or sponsor of 151....you really have no reason to hold anything against Jones.

Meh, I'm still a Jones fan after this, maybe because I don't put 100% of the blame on him for the card getting cancelled (they should've had one card like this instead of an awful 151 card and an average 152 card in the first place anyway). I just enjoy watching the best do their thing and I fully expect Jones to showcase it against Belfort with a relatively straight forward victory.

I will watch every Jones fight as long as he continues to deliver, the Rashad fight was so-so but the rest of his fights have been really fun. I'm a fan of his work in the cage and love watching it, but I wouldn't mind seeing him loose either.

The main card is really good. Swanson/Oliveira, Hamill/Matyushenko, Bisping/Stann, Benavidez/Johnson and Jones/Belfort. Not bad if you ask me.
And the best BJJ guy makes his return on FX. Can't wait for that one.

For some reason I thought Hamill retired. I haven't been able to keep up with UFC as much the past year.

The only man to defeat Jon Jones with his vicious headbutts to the elbow strategy.
