As long as sales stay up for Mattel, and ppl are purchasing the product Mattel said they have no intentions on ending there contract any time soon with the WWE. Thing's have been looking good for the company regardless of the legends failures. If prices stay the way they are or get higher, and ppl do not want to pay that, Mattel will probably cheap out on the figs a lot and drop the elite line and accessories to make it affordable, and if ppl didn't buy the cheap figs then, then the line would probably be done altogether, but I am not thinking this will happen anytime soon as there are a lot of ppl out there who love the figs as they are, and don't mind even paying online prices just to get there hand's on them. So Mattel may own the contract for as long as they do barbie as long as we keep buying them.

I hope Mattel drops the wwe contract. Not to say I dont like the figures, I just hate the distribution. I RARELY find any figures. I'll go to a number of stores per week, I.E. Walmarts, Targets, Toys r Us, Kmarts, and I'll usually only find the usual Cena's, Orton's or Mysterios. I hate it. Back with Jakks I dont ever remember going to the store and only finding Cenas. I dont know if that was because Jakks made more figures? Or if Jakks made less Cenas? I just feel Mattel has there plate full with Hotwheels/MatchBox, Barbie, Monster Jam, and the DCUC to really care about wrestling? i wouldnt include dcuc in that group. i wouldnt mind hasbro getting a shot at some point. how awesome would it be to get gi joe style articulated 3 3/4"" figures. mattel obviously blows jakks out of the water. and i love their figures by and large. i just really wish they would think outside the box with articulation. double jointed elbows, maybe a pec joint, yokozuna/gi joe style ab articulation on all figures...

Hasbro already had a shot. They made 3 inch figures with little to no articulation. At the time I loved them and they still hold some value to me but Jakks raised the bar too high compared to the old hasbros.

Didn't hasbro make the 3.5 inch GI Joe Rock figure? Compared to Mattel I thought it looked horrible.

The GI Joe Rock figure would be pretty good for a modern Rock build & brawl. They did a Breaker figure for the first movie whose head would work for a BnB Eddie Guerrero too.

Yeah but if hasbro were to acquire wwe in the near future and make only 3.5 inch figures (seeing as that's their thing) I think it will look bad compared to Mattel.

There were tons of pegwarmers with Jakks as well. In the beginning it was Bret, HBK, Rock, Austin, Taker & Triple H in every line. Then Angle joined the mix and at the end Cena & Rey. Both companies did what the WWE wanted and had heavier production runs of the face of the company Perhaps in your area? I cant ever remember walking into a store back in the jakks days and finding the same figures after a month or two. With Mattel though I only ever find the same Cenas. It's really frustrating because you see new lines being advertised but when you go to the store its the same Cena on the pegs. And then the biggest F.U. is when I find a new Cena. That tells me the store got a new case of figures in but all they have left is the Cena. Before Mattel I can remember finding every figure I wanted. With Mattel though I rarely find figures I want at retail. So obviously mattel makes less figures. Or they're sitting in some warehouse somewhere.

Considering the failure of legends (which was Jakks' bread and butter) I wouldn't be shocked if Mattel isn't making as much money on the WWE license as they expected to make.
Considering the number of diff companies that have made WWE figs, someone else will probably get the license in the future.
Also if WWE ever goes back to tv-14 Mattel will not want to work with them.

I'm torn when it comes to Mattel.
What good does it do for me that Mattel makes the best wrestling figures ever if they never get to any stores? Like many of you, I hardly EVER find any figures in stores and have to play the roulette game of hoping I can catch a popular figure for the 4 minutes that they appear on Mattelshop or Amazon the one day in 4 months that they add something new.
Maybe time has made me forget, but I do not remember distribution and case breakdowns being like this with Jakks.
The case breakdowns are mind boggling. I really wish somebody from Mattel would get out of the office and just go to some stores and walk down the isle and see stores that ONLY have Rey Mysterio or John Cena figures and have been that way for months.
Mattel intentionally makes it difficult for us to find characters like Flashbacks, debut figures, Divas, and essentially any characters that are NOT Orton, Cena, and Mysterio are packed 1 per case or LESS.
So the bottom line is that I could care less how good the figures are if I'll never be able to find them. After having inferior Jakks figures with unrealistic bodies for 15 years, if another company could at least make sure the figures hit stores I'd rather another company make the figures even if they aren't as GOOD as Mattel as long as they aren't as BAD as Jakks.
Because honestly, these amazing Mattel figures essentially don't even exist for most of us because we will never even get them in our area because our stores are buried in John Cena and Rey Mysterio.

Hopefully for at least the next 10 years or longer. Distribution isn't that good in my area but it's not to the point where i can't find anything. I go hunting maybe once or twice a month and more often than not i find something new. I guess it can be frustrating at times but with RSC i usually just pre-order the sets i need and save me the trouble. Yes the prices are a lot higher than retail but i feel like it's worth it in the long run.

Just wondering, Hbkrules thinks that if wwe become tv14 then Mattel will not want to associate itself with them. Do you guys agree?

I've invested way too much money on jakks and now Mattel, this is it for me. If Mattel loses the license i'm done collecting WWE figures, they just set the bar so high, I don't think anybody can top them. Mattel has the resources because they are successful with their Barbie and Hotwheels lines.

To me, I hope Mattel and WWE do not renew the contract. I mean if they do, great but otherwise I hope they don't. I love the figures and a lot of the stuff they produce, The distribution and high prices kills it for me. Kind of takes the fun away from it. If having detail and height accuracy means high prices then I don't see why bother. The fact that Mattel has tried to accomplish every Jakks did from a 13-14 year span into a 2-3 year span hurt Mattel. because now they have this license for a few more years and what is left for them to do other than repaints? It's not like WWE is making any new interesting characters, everyone is bland or misused these days. So now we turn to the legends line in which don't sell because the average market is children. Another issue is people these days complain about how childish the WWE can be now, Mattel is a prime factor because they are a kid oriented company. They were responsible for Bryan Danielson getting fired for the Justin Roberts incident. Once I heard they were the reasons I did not want to buy any of their stuff but since I saw Macho Man and Steamboat, I caved. I don't think paying 17 for a toy is worth it just for scale and clothes. Will I keep buying them? Damn straight! The stuff is good and I do own a lot of it. That is where the contradiction comes in but I will continuously feel that Mattel is doing as much harm as good to the WWE brand. People can feel free to disagree with this because they are getting quality but I say 1 thing to these people: They are toys! If you guys want accuracy and quality and are only going to display these things then Mattel hear me out, Bring back Unmatched Fury! Im would pay a little extra for the height difference. The extra detail though i can live without.

But if Mattel end up going to 3.5 inch figures anyway (which could happen... WWE is one of the few six-inch toy lines at mass retail anymore, and the costs keep going up and up... At some point they might price themselves out of the market, considering they're releasing eighteen basics and six elites every two months), then we're in trouble. Mattel don't have a great record with the smaller scale.
