I know this is almost impossible to answer, but do you think Mattel will manufacture WWE figures for a long time? Or will they do a "Jakks" and another company will end up manufacturing the figures?
I really am enjoying Mattel's take on WWE and I don't really want WWE and Mattel to split lol.

I think the contract is until 2015... but that doesn't mean they have to stop then.
Hopefully it will be a long time. I really can't imagine any company doing a better job.

I think both sides are doing a good job so hopefully WWE and Mattel stay together for a long time.

Did wwe ever renew their contract when they were with jakks or was it just a one time deal from whenever they started until 2009?

I hope Mattel drops the wwe contract.
Not to say I dont like the figures, I just hate the distribution. I RARELY find any figures. I'll go to a number of stores per week, I.E. Walmarts, Targets, Toys r Us, Kmarts, and I'll usually only find the usual Cena's, Orton's or Mysterios. I hate it. Back with Jakks I dont ever remember going to the store and only finding Cenas. I dont know if that was because Jakks made more figures? Or if Jakks made less Cenas?
I just feel Mattel has there plate full with Hotwheels/MatchBox, Barbie, Monster Jam, and the DCUC to really care about wrestling?

I don't think there's a better company out there that can match Mattel's 6" figures in quality, quantity, and price.
I thought the contract ended in 2014.

There were tons of pegwarmers with Jakks as well. In the beginning it was Bret, HBK, Rock, Austin, Taker & Triple H in every line. Then Angle joined the mix and at the end Cena & Rey. Both companies did what the WWE wanted and had heavier production runs of the face of the company

2014 as far as I know, but I hope WWE starts negotiating an extension in next year at the most! Mattel is doing an excellent job on their figs, and as mentioned above, I can't imagine another company topping them.

Mattel has such a rich history of toys! I was watching some Matty Mattel commercials from the 1950s on YouTube.

I think they will be together for a while man. on Vinces side the Mattel deal has been very lucrative for him.On Mattels side their presence in the "boys toys" aisle would be minimal outside the U.S. without WWE.

To me, I hope Mattel and WWE do not renew the contract. I mean if they do, great but otherwise I hope they don't.
I love the figures and a lot of the stuff they produce, The distribution and high prices kills it for me. Kind of takes the fun away from it. If having detail and height accuracy means high prices then I don't see why bother.
The fact that Mattel has tried to accomplish every Jakks did from a 13-14 year span into a 2-3 year span hurt Mattel. because now they have this license for a few more years and what is left for them to do other than repaints? It's not like WWE is making any new interesting characters, everyone is bland or misused these days. So now we turn to the legends line in which don't sell because the average market is children.
Another issue is people these days complain about how childish the WWE can be now, Mattel is a prime factor because they are a kid oriented company. They were responsible for Bryan Danielson getting fired for the Justin Roberts incident. Once I heard they were the reasons I did not want to buy any of their stuff but since I saw Macho Man and Steamboat, I caved.
I don't think paying 17 for a toy is worth it just for scale and clothes. Will I keep buying them? Damn straight! The stuff is good and I do own a lot of it. That is where the contradiction comes in but I will continuously feel that Mattel is doing as much harm as good to the WWE brand.
People can feel free to disagree with this because they are getting quality but I say 1 thing to these people: They are toys!
If you guys want accuracy and quality and are only going to display these things then Mattel hear me out, Bring back Unmatched Fury!

Did wwe ever renew their contract when they were with jakks or was it just a one time deal from whenever they started until 2009? Jakks had the WWE contract since like 95-96 The first Jakks figures were produced in 96, think they picked it up in late 95. The original deal with Jakks I believe was until 2002 (that may have been after a contract extension already) but they ended up renewing it then and then again... so Jakks had the line for roughly 15 years- an insanely long time compared to the short spans for LJN and Hasbro. Hopefully we get a solid 5 years at least with Mattel, this is the greatest looking wrestling collection possible. I've collected every single line and Mattel is easily KING
