In an interview that JUST happened on UFC Tonight on Fuel TV, Dana said if GSP beats Condit, it will probably be GSP vs. Anderson at the Cowboys Stadium at 180lbs.
What do you think?
I think it's kind of silly. Anderson said he'd go to 170 and do it. Hell, there's no one really left (besides Nick) at 170 to fight GSP, so why not move up? I don't know. It's whatever.

I dont see how Anderson could make 170 honestly. So both guys meeting in the middle is ok with me.

I've heard this match isn't going to happen so many times in the past. I'll believe it when I see it.

What else are they gonna do?
And Silva can make 170. He cuts like 5lbs to make 185. haha.

That's what the people want you to think, but he diets DURING his camp, and the day of the weigh in, he cuts about 5-8lbs of water weight, and makes weight. He even weighed in at 181lbs for one of his fights just as a message to GSP.
He's about 200lbs when camp starts. Guys like Alves cut from 195-200lbs to make 170. Silva can make 170.

Thanks for clearing that up. But meeting in the middle is the right thing to do IMO. Why make either guy move up or down when they could simply meet in the middle.

I want to see Silva/GSP bad but it seems like every year Dana says its likely we're going to see Silva/GSP if they win their next fights.

They're gonna have to do it sooner or later. Silva is getting older, and GSP has really no one of substance to fight at 170 anymore (besides Diaz).

Realistically Silva I dont think could make a permanant move to 170 and GSP hasnt shown any thought of moving up to 185. If this fight happens (and that is a big if) it is about more then titles. Its about two guys that have cleared out their divisions completely in the past 6 years finally meeting to see which is the so called P4P best ever.

I see what you're saying, and I agree. I just think realistically, Silva doesn't have a lot of years left, and neither does GSP. Although I see GSP lasting longer than Silva at this point. I think having one of them be the first guy to hold 2 titles in 2 different weight classes would be crazy as hell.

Basically what I said. When he starts camp, he diets, then cuts weight. Ed Soares was on Sherdog Radio not too long ago talking about it. There haven't been too many times were he's been over 200lbs.
There are guys that have cut an insane amount of weight the day of weigh-ins. You can't tell me someone like James Irvin only cut 10lbs when he had to make 185. Commissions don't have a limit, but I think they should.

Didn't Silva fight at 170 a long time ago, at the beginning of his career? He can certainly make 180 to do it. Personally, I'd rather it be at 178. 8lb gain for GSP, 7lb loss for Anderson. As much in the middle of that as you can get, but whatever. I'm just hoping they can make this fight happen. Its been out there for years and for some reason or another its been pushed off.
But GSP's gotta beat Condit first and that can prove to be tough after ACL surgery and all the time off...

It's a great match-up - but I'd prefer Anderson Vs Jones, to be honest... both have been looking awesome lately - and GSP has lost some of his steam/luster, what with his last few fights and the injury lay-off. Unless GSP looks incredible against Condit, Silva will surely be a heavy favorite(?). And I still want to see GSP Vs Diaz too... I suppose that can happen down the road though.

If this fight happens i'd almost gaurentee that Silva wins. GSP is very good dont get me wrong but he's not the destructive fighter that Silva and Jon Jones are. I think Silva/Jones is a better fight but GSP/Silva has been begged for for over 4-5 years now so it needs to happen.

I think everyone thinks that Silva would beat GSP, as most people I've spoke to think that Jones would beat Silva, the bigger guys wins most of the time. =/
