Lets keep in mind that K-Mart is the officail retailer of WWE. Well, WWE needs to change that to Wal-Mart or TRU, because K-mart sucks.
First, why would you partner with a second-rate big-box retailer, that has out-dated stores, non-helpful staff and is on the verge of going out of business. A company that is constantly closing locations left and right, hasn't built a new store in years and is reveered by a baby boomer generation that is stuck on the name recognition of Sears or K-Mart.
I hate K-mart because I am a big buyer in my area. It does not matter if I clean out the elites, THEY DONT GET ELITES often. Maybe once every two months, even if the FREAKING PEGS ARE EMPTY. They love re-stoking the TTTT, but really hate stocking Elites. Most of my K-Marts only have two Elite pegs. I have complained to 1-800 numbers, managers, associates, AND NOBODY CARES, NOBODY!!! No wonder they are the brink of extiction smh.
Also who make the business decisions for them. They had to give away the HOF Legends for .99. Why would they think we were gonna buy double of freaking Terry Funk, Jimmy Snuka, Rhodes, Steamboat just for the HOF plaque? come on man... Those figures were shelf warmers from the get-go, and for them to let WWE and Mattel sucker them into carrying those Legends is a shame.
All and all, I just want to say K-Mart sucks. And maybe its just my area, but Sears down here does not stock WWE or Elites, but besides that, who wants to shop at these stores. Its like im taking a trip back into the 80's when I go to these stores. I had to go to Sears to get my Nexus 7 (the week they came out), and how did I know they would have it at SEARS, b/c NOBODY FREAKING goes there to shop anymore.
If K-Mart/SEARS is serious about getting my dollars, they need to make a better effort in getting better stock, better management and newer, UPDATED stores.

Kmart is horrible, no doubt.
However, I have as much luck with them as I do the "big guys".
I do like that they have some exclusives too.

Must be your Area Bro, Kmart around here is always first on stocking the new toys, a week or 2 ahead of target and about 2 months ahead of the walmart around here. Like I said all areas are different. (Demographics, Economy, location.....) its all different. Any way come to think of it they are slow to restock after Christmas but are fast in the fall right before Christmas. heh any way If given up trying to figure it out. Its hit or miss bro if you don't like it pay inflated prices to get guaranteed product shipped to your front door its an option.

Here's their schedule. They get some new toys in August for the reset. Maybe they'll add a few more items between August and Christmas. Then they get a WWE display after Christmas. Next is the Summer movie toys. That's just about it, few and far between.
I have a Kmart in my area that's very small and cramped. It was never renovated. It looks like it goes back to the '70's. Surprisingly, out of 3 Km's in my area, that store always has WWE exclusives first. Last year it had 2 displays with E12.

Mine also had a huge display with elite 12 and basic 13. That was the only time I ever saw e12 kane.

Dont get me wrong fellas, I have gotten some damn good stuff out of there. E12 cube, L4/E8 Cube, its just not consistant enough. I do like the exclusives, just rather see somebody else get the "exclusive WWE label"

K mart is awesome. I have at least 4 stores in an hour drive radius around my area and in all the stores, all employees are extra helpful, they always have the shelves stocked with Elites/ Legends/ DM's etc So just cause your K mart sucks doesn't mean everyone's does. I could go to my K Mart easily right now and pick up Elite 14 or 15, the exclusive entrance stage, Live event Cena, and a few legends on Clearance.

Must be my area too in terms of worst to best in stocking it has to go kmart, target and tru are about even then walmart. But they all suck for stocking figures in my area usually i do score sometimes though but mostly @ walmart

I'll agree that K-Mart doesn't get many toy shipments, but Wal-Mart is every bit as bad, if not worse. Plus their stores are usually dirty. I feel like I need a bath every time I walk out of one. As for TRU, too many of them have closed. I think that would make it even tougher for collectors. |

I would say it's the distribution and not just any particular store. The two Walmarts in my area sat on E14 Cena and Taker for probably two months. They just sat there. And we never saw Bossman or Booker in either store. But now E15 has been restocked at least 3 times in each store. Even saw E16. I went into my Kmart the other week and it was stocked full of E15 and the Heritage basics with Hitman and HBK. I think that with the holiday seaaon upon us, most if not all stores will start to have a slew of inventory. Happy hunting.

It sucks that you have a terrible K-mart in your neck of the woods. While I can't do anything to help that, I can answer the question of why WWE would partner with them: They didn't. K-mart put big money up to be associated with WWE, not the other way around. It's called sponsorship. It happens in sports all the time, especially in NASCAR. X gas company pays them a ton of money and now they can advertise "X gasoline, the official fuel of NASCAR" for example. I'm clueless as to why K-mart, top 3 in brick and mortar retailers would feel the need to put themselves in that position, especially after spending all the money on the Sears merger, but they did. I can't figure out why Walmart or TRU wouldn't get in on this, as I would think they would have more money to spend. |
