85-87. JCP with the NWA, WWF, AWA, UWF and World Class were all selling out everything all around the country.
No other time since then has wrestling enjoyed such prosperity.
More wrestlers were employed and making a living than any other time in history.
The Attitude era may be more modern, and the most popular since the 80's era, but it doesnt even come close to the amount of popuarity that the combined national attention wrestling enjoyed. Anyone who grew up during the time period understands. Im not talking people who were 4 during the period...im talking people who lived through the hey day. It will be hard for younger fans to realize that the WWF was considered the weakest product, and the second most popular, of the major companies.
Im not saying it was my favourite era....but i cant argue the numbers of the business as a whole being the most prosperous...by a long shot.

Technically its not listed as an Era but to me 1987-1992 has the best wrestling and entertainment ever. It might not have drawn the money or gotten the bandwagon popularity that the Attitude Era did but most of your memorable events and matches (that were not stupid over the top) happened then.

Ruthless Aggression era, definitely had much smaller but more technical wrestlers that were fun to watch.

...don't give me the whole 'why do you watch it then?'.. I haven't watched it for weeks. I make an exception for anytime Jericho or The Rock show up. Jericho has been about as entertaining as a kick in the stones during his last run......come to think of it the one before wasnt much better.

I personally think the new generation purely because imo, it had the best match quality!

My favorite time for wrestling was 1990-2000. I'm so thankful I was able to live through this stuff first hand and not have to learn about it through clips and other people's biased opinions. Hogan's rise to stardom and leaving for WCW. The rise of WCW ECW revolutionizing "Attitude" years before WWF coined the phrase Montreal Screwjob nWo DX Austin Rock Monday Night Wars Attitude ERA in general As soon as 2001 rolled around ECW went out of business, WCW got bought out and WWE got lazy and complacent. Wrestling has been going downhill ever since. Was going to post something like this , so just going to say QFT

I'm assuming the OP did not live through the "Golden Era' because I think 84-92 is too broad.
84-87 Rock n Roll Wrestling era 88-92 Golden era

Attitude Era for me. The competition between the two companies forced both to really dare to be innovative and the energy and excitement each week was unbeatable. I consider myself lucky to have been a fan during that era.

After WM III; Survivor Series, SummerSlam and the Royal Rumble quickly became main attractions. in 88-92 wrestlers became more larger then life/cartoonish. Hulk Hogan was always yellow and red and Hulkamania really reached it's mainstream peak in those years following WM III. You cant tell me you can watch a match from 84 and one from 92 and say they are still the same era's.

Starcade, Great American Bash, David Von Erich Memorial, Parade of Champions, StarWars...there were other huge events other than Wrestlemania...its just after WMIII, none of them, except the JCP ones had any jam left. Personally, i would do 84-89...show the rise and beginning of the decline, business wise. 89-95...down time...business wise.

The golden era was long before my time, but it's made wrestling what it is today, therefore I shan't pass judgement on it. I starting watching January 2002 so I guess I'm a RA era guy,but learning about and watching the history of wrestling was definitely the Atttitude ERA, seen so many clips, I loved the attitude, the no holds barred approach etc. The 'PG Era' is the era that made me stop watching wrestling, 09/10 and it was only when The Rock returned that I got hooked again, so Attitude Era then RA Era for me, very little in it though.

88 to 2002? My go-to answer for this kind of stuff is 1997. No other year has been as entertaining to me as it was that year between the 3 companies.
By the OP's count, I'd probably go:
New Gen Golden Attitude PG Ruthless
I'm not sure what is to be accomplished by asking a bunch of different people of different ages such a subjective question though. Everyone thinks they are right, and imo, everyone is for the most part.
