Just thinking... it would be cool to meet someone randomly who happened to be a big wrestling figure collector like me. I mean, I imagine its possible meeting someone my age (late 20s) at a store who is buying for himself or maybe someone at a convention.. but I'm more curious if anyone has any cool stories of meeting someone out of the blue who collects like you do and becoming friends off of that and buying together etc.
My good friend stocks shelves at local Targets/Walmarts and is also a big collector. He always picks up someone I need since I can't get to the stores much and he orders online. Real great having a buddy to give you updates without having to drive to the stores..
Anyway, if anyone has any cool stories of meeting mutual collectors (especially people who don't go on here), tell a story! Thanks!

Not really, although at toys r us last week I was asking about Kevin Nash and the employee was asking if my local figure shop got him. Ended up chatting about figures for 5 minutes. He was mid 20's so I guess it was cool to meet someone as I've never really know anyone in person that collects figures.
Although I do occasionally run in to a member on here called middleroncard at A1, we also text each other with wha TRU has and other findings as we basically go to the same shops. Think he's 17 so only 1 year difference.

I've never seen it with wrestling figures.
I have seen it with Hot Wheels cars. Several times.
Never with wrestling figures though...

I've run into pepole at TRU/Walmart, etc and actually made a good friend from seeing him at TRU often. Plus I've met up with people on here in person to do trades and such and that was pretty cool.

I met a guy that worked at my nearest TRU a couple times. I bought BOPPV Bret Hart last time I was there and he mentioned how I was lucky to get him and how much he used to go for on the bay. We didn't talk about collecting, but it was pretty clear that he did.

I've only met store empoyees or cahsiers who are also into this kinda stuff. Otherwise I rarely see any other collectors shopping in the wwe figure aisle. If anyone its usually very young children bugging their parents leading them to say"NO WE CAN'T AFFORD IT"

I have met a guy who works at TRU that likes WWE and we had a conversation about B18 and Michael McGillicuty not being pushed enough when I bought BP16 Otunga/McGillicutty

Honestly, Idk any normal adult who would be 30 years old and stand around in a toy aisle wanting to talk and make friends with a 15 year old. Could you imagine how he would feel? Let alone already being an adult in a toy aisle, now little kids are talking to him trying to be friends. lol Imagine if your mom came by and saw some 30 year old in a toy aisle talking to her son alone. I think alarms would be going off in any parents head thinkin child molester or something. You got to understand his side too. I know I wouldnt want to talk to children in a toy aisle that I didnt know. I would just nod and walk away too.

Just a handful of times during my time collecting Jakks WWE. When I lived in Connecticut, a guy saw me grabbing some of the BO:WCW series, and we talked for a bit. Another time while picking up the first RA Miz, the clerk at KB Toys talked to me a bit about the current roster, and was nice enough to pull out some fresh boxes from the back for me to pick up some other stuff.
I think the best run-in was with a random old man at KB when the stores were slowly starting to disappear. He wasn't a collector, but he apparently watched the shows still. He had to be in his late-70s, or mid-80s. But he was talking to me about Flair, Angle, Cena, and some of the other new guys. I felt kind of bad for him, as he seemed starved for someone to just have a conversation with. It was pretty fun checking out the CS guys on the shelves, and chatting about matches of theirs we liked.

yeah, actually, i do. i've been on this board since i was 12, literally haha. one of my best friends now is a collector i had met through an unexpected mutual friend.
about a year ago, i was in my friend's garage having a smoke with him and one of his friends, when i noticed that he had an old bic lighter with an old wwf scratch logo and ivory on it. i asked him about it, and my friend didn't have much to say. on the other hand though, his friend had plenty to say. we started bullshitting about the right to censor and stuff, and eventually we both found out we were both figure collectors. we've been friends ever since.

I noticed once that a fellow member on this site was also from the great state of North Dakota so I sent him a pm. We talked about figure for awhile and one day we decided to meet up when I was going through his city. Had a good time talking and trading wrestling figures for a few months. I got out of collecting shortly after and we kind of lost touch. When I got back into collecting, I tried contacting him again and never got a response back.

I actually met someone yesterday. Went to this KMart by my college I had never been to. No new figures but as I was looking another guy came in the aisle and asked if anything was new. We ended up chatting for about 5 minutes on how everywhere is always Cena, Rey, and Orton lol
