Just a random thought I had. Michael Coulthard thats like saying why Hunter Hearst Helmsley(triple h) how come he dont use his real name of Paul Levesque...... i am all lost now, i taught i was going somewhere with this.....  |

Because he's a TV personality and Coulthard doesn't roll off the tongue as smoothly as Cole.
Lot's of celebrities have changed, shortened or altered the spellings of their name to be more smoothly and easily pronounced.

Probably the same reason why Geddy Lee of Rush doesn't go by Gary Weinrib... probably because Michael Cole is a much better sounding name.

These are the only ones who use their real names from the current announcers: Jim Ross Jerry Lawler Scott Stanford Ones not using their real names: Michael Cole Josh Matthews Matt Striker So pretty much half of them currently use their real names and the other half are not. Even if you take out Lawler and Striker because they were wrestlers before announcers, still half and half. Now, if Korpela and Grisham were still here, you had a valid point. Now you still have a little bit of a valid point. I'll say the sme thing the other posts said, some change their name because they are in the entertainment business, so they change their names to something appealing to the mainstream audience. That's honestly the only really good explanation. |

Probably the same reason Batista isn't Bautista. Its easier for people to know how to pronounce right off the bat.
