I enjoyed the premiere. Sad episode. But well done.

Finally watched the premiere last night. A very well done episode. I can't say I was a huge fan of how drawn out the death was, but considering this is by far and wide the biggest death of the series, even more so than Glenn, I guess that is to be expected. What has me curious now is what in the bloody hell are they going to do for the Whisperers storyline? I get retconning some things, and changing some things up to spice up the series from the books but they took out the main in' character of that arc of the comics. Sadiq replacing him? They gender swapping and making Enid the lead? I dunno. Also, please tell me I'm not the only one who hit rewind at the end of the episode when Judith was walking through the garden at Alexandria and spoke to Negan. I got freaking CHILLS seeing that scene both times I watched it, I couldn't believe it. SO well done.

It's a little early to call it because we could get a new character introduced between now and then, but for now a gender swap with Enid getting the lead sounds like the way to go. The Negan bit at the end was a nice touch but it was weird. I'm just not used to JDM playing a nice guy so it was almost creepier than his current Negan portrayal. Have you heard the rumors that JDM is a possibility to take up the cowl as Batman in the DC movies now that Ben Affleck has given up on the role?

Yeah, gender swap makes the most sense, and Enid is established at this point and she's the only angsty teen youth left to fit the bill. The creepiness of it is what gave me chills. I loved it. I can see JDM playing Batman but I pray he doesn't, or they find a way to keep him on the show while he does the movies. If they're gonna lose Negan, that hurts so much of the future because that's not a simple recast at this point. Sure they could mop up All Out War quicker, but Negan is integral in the plot post war, like with the Whisperers for example. They lose Negan, after axing Carl, the show is gonna have to either become its own thing or axe the arc entirely which I hope isn't the case because that's a damn good arc.

I wouldn't worry too much about scheduling for JDM. Danai found the time to film Black Panther without missing a beat on TWD.

You'd think being Batman, the title role of the biggest superhero in the world, he would not have time for both.

Well, Simon is my new hero. I've been waiting two seasons for someone to do what he did tonight. I think I'll celebrate with a Sloppy Joe sandwich later.
And I really really really need Trivial Pursuit the Walking Dead Edition.

That was an interesting contrast between Negan and Rick. There was actual remorse and pain in Negan's reaction to Carl's death while Rick is clearly consumed by revenge right now.
I think Rick will come to regret the way he handled Jadis this episode. Something tells me it will not be the last time we see her...

This was my favorite episode of the season. Although Rick could of handled it differently as he sounded like the bad guy instead of Negan. And I'm Simon is next to be killed after going against Negan's orders.

Carls death still has me ed up, he was my favorite character and really had no need to be written off, that whole deal with the song and his last moments writing those letters and stuff is one of my favorite scenes of all time This weeks episode was crazy and loved Negans reaction to Carl's death, and Jadis story was ing awesome

Good episode. Negan and Enid stole the show. One of those isn't a surprise.
The conversation between Negan and Rick was amazing. By the end of the episode, you're rooting for Negan because he's much more just. Negan just wants it to end, and when he heard Carl died, you could tell that THAT was his breaking point. Carl was, when peace came, the successor to the Saviors in Negan's eyes, and Rick got him killed by being so preoccupied with Jadis and killing Negan.
It'll be interesting to see where this goes. Negan doesn't know Simon wiped them out. Jadis told Rick, but Rick didn't tell Negan. At some point he'll find out, but once Enid and Aaron find out what happened to Jadis' group, and what happened to Carl...it's going to be an interesting dynamic. Aaron wants Negan dead, so does Enid, and so does Oceanside. But Rick got Carl killed, which is something I can't see Enid forgiving him for. And Enid clearly is in the head of the new leader of Oceanside...I guess the troops her and Aaron rally (I'm assuming that's where Jadis winds up too) and their marching orders will depend on what Carl told Enid in the letter. I could easily see them flipping sides, especially if Negan has Simon killed (because it was Simon that killed Oceanside's men wasn't it? And Simon killed the Garbage people obviously.) The war got more interesting now that Negan has a new reason to kill Rick, and it aligns quite a bit with what will infuriate Enid and Aaron who have an army of their own.

Also, and I didn't think about it last week, but once Morgan finds out Carl is dead I'm gonna assume that's how he gets written off since he's jumping shows. He just...leaves. After seeing what happened at the Kingdom, what Henry has become, after his son died and now Carl...that makes sense.

Damn man, just submit this to AMC and get yourself on the couch for The Talking Dead. It's far more thought out and detailed than the usual claptrap the guests give.

Damn man, just submit this to AMC and get yourself on the couch for The Talking Dead. It's far more thought out and detailed than the usual claptrap the guests give. I mean, I don't always have the cash to get the new comics so I occasionally just read the wiki summaries. But I do follow the comics, and just try to piece together what I can about what's still on track and what's out. But like, the actors that play Jadis and Simon just signed three year deals. So I dunno what's gonna happen with Negan and Simon. Maggie is a huge deal post war in the comics, but it's fairly obvious Lauren Cohen is leaving because she can't get the money she wants and she's been doing the pilot circuit. The Morgan thing makes sense because we know he's leaving anyways thanks to Talking Dead. It's just...weird. But I love it. And thanks for considering me a better thinker than Phillip Brooks and half of the secondary cast and two bit, grade C "stars" on the couch.

They sorta hammered Gabriel's "let God lead the way" schtick into the ground tonight, just to tear it all back down for him. Makes me wonder if he will make a sacrificial play later this season.
Also not a good idea to lie to little psycho Henry about his brother's killer with the actual dude still being held captive. The guy will eventually blab about it and Henry will end up dead, yet another lost child that Carol has established a relationship with.

Such a good episode, nothing in 8b has been anything close to disappointing so far, one of the best seasons overall I'd say. How could you not feel for Gabriel after all him and Carson went though only to have that happen. I hate that now I have no choice but to like Saddiq because he's the only in doctor left, I still can't help but blame him for Carl's death lol

Yeah, I figure he got so far on his own he must be damn good at fighting off walkers, which is another plus with him joining the group It just sucks I'll forever attach him to the death of my favorite character I'm surprised it took this long for them to figure out the walker guts/blood can cause serious damage even if not bit. I always wondered when they were "gutting up" or even killing them while having open wounds how that can't get them infected, good to see the logic in that finally coming out with Negans new Eugene inspired plan
