UFC President Dana White told The Times on Tuesday that Jones and Sonnen have been assigned as opposing coaches in the third installment of "The Ultimate Fighter" on FX, creating some extensive pre-fight hype for their April 27 pay-per-view title match at a site to be determined.
"The Ultimate Fighter" with Jones and Sonnen is set to begin shooting on Oct. 29 in Las Vegas, with a debut in early January as young middleweights participate in a tournament that leads up to an April "TUF" finale at the Vegas Hard Rock Hotel, where the winner will receive a multi-fight UFC contract.
HUGE news.

I'm pretty vocal when it comes to Sonnen's fighting ability, but the man's entertaining as hell. So I very much look forward to watching this entire season. The first one honestly since Bisping/Miller.

TUF has honestly sucked the past 4/5 years. I don't even think Chael can save it.

Definitely didn't see that coming. Atlhough, TUF is pretty stale at this point. Let's just hope they move it from that awful timeslot.

FX wanted to keep it on Fridays for some reason. And that still isn't working out.

TUF has honestly sucked the past 4/5 years. I don't even think Chael can save it. I don't disagree with that. I enjoyed the bits with the coaches or Dana going back and forth, but found myself not being entertained at all by the actual fights. Outside of Diego Brandao.

I don't have any issue with TUF. I watch it every week regardless, whether it be live or DVR'ed. I also don't have a problem with the pick for coaches. The only issue I will have is if it's for the title. I haven't seen see it confirmed yet if it will or won't be (unless I missed something).

Should be an entertaining affair but Sonnen in no way, shape or form deserves a shot at Jones.

i actually dont mind it too much... gotta keep jones busy til hendo is back, which is looking like early 2013, and theres not too many other fights at 205 that have any type of intrigue. it pays to be a self hype man, and chael plays that better than anyone.

Well thats interesting to say the least. TUF has been pretty boring since Evans/Jackson but Chael makes everything fun to watch so from an entertainment standpoint it should be good. Im just sick of the same weightclasses being used everytime. I feel like all we ever get are LW,MW and WW TUF's and it sucks.

I have no interest in watching douche bags trash the house and look like idiots while representing the sport. Haven't in years and I still don't.
I think it's bad for the sport and I won't support it.

UGH. HATE that the belt is on the line. It's not like he had a Frankie Edgar-level performance in his last Silva fight. The guy looks like a fool, & gets another title shot.

Seems that there are quite a few fighters who aren't happy about Shayle's shot as well.

While it sucks to see him randomly leapfrog guys for a title shot, your only other option is to simply not have the fight period. If you did this as a non-title fight, it'd be an even bigger train wreck for the sport should Chael win. Cause then you automatically need to re-do the fight for the title anyhow. It's not like you can just let Jones carry on as champion in the LHW division if he lost a non-title catch-weight or actual 205lb match. I love Chael, but I'm almost certain Jones is going to win this easily. Still, there's no way the company should risk the situation.
It was a risky enough situation having Anderson fight a non-title fight outside of his weight class, but at least there he was moving up in weight to save an event. They could at least spin it that he only lost because of the size difference. If they're dead set on doing this particular fight right now it has to be for the belt. There's just no in-between if you ask me.

Anyone that's upset about Chael and is saying the Belt is "tarnished" really has no reason to complain, in my opinion. The UFC has a history of giving fighters Title Shots, regardless of their "ranking".
If we are talking just on what people have done in the UFC Octogon, Silva got a shot at 1-0. Lesnar got a shot at 1-1. Sheilds got a shot at 0-0.
I'm aware there's a specific reason or situation behind all of those, but this isn't the first time. Not to mention, as much as I never saw myself saying this, I actually agree with Chael.
You know who WANTS a title shot? It's one thing to talk about how you deserve a shot, and it's another thing to actually want it so bad that you find a way to make it happen.

People bringing this whole "tarnish" the championship stuff need to get real. If Sonnen beats Jones, then it means he was on Jones level.
If Jones beats Sonnen, he beats a big name and no harm is done, by the time the next match is due, there should be a legit LHW cotender.

I LOVE Chael - and it will be awesome to see him on TUF, "exchanging words" etc. with Jones. But it does kind of suck for Dan Henderson... Jones Vs Hendo was such an awesome fight - and arguably the biggest/best fight in the division.
Hendo himself has tweeted: "I guess I should just quit training to win fights and to be exciting for the fans and just go to crap talking school".
