Flow is more consistent however you will never replicate the versatility of detail brushes with something like an acrylic marker. They work very well from my experience on any larger surfaces you need to cover, however most surfaces on a standard WWE figure you will find don't apply correctly because of the glossy nature of the plastic and more often than not they will run on you. Stick to brushes. Just my opinion on the matter.

I have been making customs for a couple years and The makers do work good, BUT for details and different surfaces use a brush , mix it up and always take your time , good luck !

I find that the pens (in my experience) work well for touching up facial hair and detailing boots, but haven't really tried them beyond that.

I started using markers and found that they are best used for detailing. You can buy fine tip acrylic paint pens that are great to put small letters or logos on boots or trunks.
I also used them to get into the cracks around legs and other parts especially if I think I need paint in an area that I may not be able to spray with matte clear coat when I am done. The paint just last longer and stays on better.
