Ok so i won a mattel basics flashback Bret a while ago and it end up sitting at the back of my shelf because in all honesty i think it looked a bit rubbish. So i thought now i have completed my last custom (but first in many years) this will be my next. First think i hated was the headscan - in my honest opinion i thought Jakks nailed the hart headscan alot better! So i popped the head off, gave it some stubble and mor importantly i gently trimmed the hair sitting over his face to make it a little thinner and more realistic. Second i gave the upper torso the black attack treatment. I could have done it the easy way and left the pink trim in place but i head my heart sent on the white so after a few coats (and touching up) i finally did this and added the logo on his chest - note all painted as i don't do the whole decals thing! Then i added the streaks down the side of his legs and added the hitman text (again all painted). Possibly could have been a tad neater but i think i did ok! Finally i added the little 4 x hearts on the left leg - this was the hardest bit but taking my time paid off as i really liked how they turned out (i was suprised i got them in the right placements!) A quick touch up and below is the fruit of my labours. Love to hear what you all think. Took me about 3-4 hours over 2 days. Ben (The Everlasting Spirit ©)

That Bret Hart custom looks superb, I really like the Jakks headscan alot better from what I remembered of the other Flashback Bret headscan. I like the slight touch ups you added as well such as the Hitman logo down the length of his leg and black spot up on the upper torso. The paint job was very neat and organized and it suited Bret very well overall, it makes me wonder why this your second custom in years, you have a pretty good basis on how it's done.

That is really amazing! I would prefer midsized kneepads, but it is still great as it is.

Great job! I'm wanting to paint my Bret too, but haven't been able to settle on an attire yet.

Really nice work man! The only suggestion I'd have would be to give him pink knee pads rather than black, only 'cause in later years Bret's knee pads matched the color of his tights. Also, the "HITMAN" skull design across the back of the tights would have been a nice touch.
But the work you did on the face/hair and the singlet is great. I agree that the Jakks headscan was better than Mattel's, but you've made this one look better than the regular release. And the fact that you used no decals at all is very impressive.
Great figure, hope he's not on the back of your shelf anymore haha.
