In January of 2012, WZ reported that WrestleMania 29 would be taking place at MetLife stadium in New Jersey. We also reported that Dallas, Texas was a front runner for the location for WrestleMania 30.
Obviously, after concern from fans regarding the outdoor weather at that time of the year, it was eventually confirmed that WrestleMania 29 would in fact be taking place in April at MetLife.
WZ has now learned that Dallas will not be the location for WrestleMania 30.
At the time of our report 10 months ago, Dallas was the location named by Vince McMahon himself in private meetings. McMahon's hope was to occupy the huge stadium that is home to the Dallas Cowboys for the milestone WrestleMania and he made that intention clear. Scheduling issues at the stadium in Dallas ultimately prevented the negotiations from being completed.
As of now, WZ can exclusively report WWE is looking at New Orleans and the Superdome to host WrestleMania 30 in 2014.
One source told us that it wouldn't be safe to call it "official" until an actual announcement is made by WWE, but that the negotiations seem to be going smoothly and both sides are in the final business stages.
Can't say I'm too upset. I'm thinking I will make the trip to WM every other year, (I went to Miami this year) so I was OK with the chance of it being in Dallas. Now that it's ruled out, I'm happy it could be going to New Orleans. I've never been there before, plus I know some people that live there.
Thoughts?

I know this year's Mania weekend is in the New York New Jersey area. Some don't like them doing the same area back to back but to me it'll be weird not having 30 at the Garden when 1, 10 and 20 were there.

I love tradition, but I'm glad they are at least getting Mania next year, so they aren't completely snubbed out. It's better to get one a year early than not get it at all.

This is awesome, as I live in Louisiana. A first for the state. I went to WM 17 and loved it. I hope we get 30, that would be an amazing spectacle.

Not shocked at all. Once NCAA announced that the 2014 Final Four was being held there, I knew it would be completely improbable for WWE to hold WrestleMania there. I also look forward to finally seeing the Superdome (possibly) hosting a 'Mania. Love the stadium and the history it has with the NFL.

Wow. Just got back from my first trip to the Superdome yesterday seeing my Eagles get their asses whipped. Great stadium. Crazy energy in that city - between Bourbon Street and everything.... was kinda hoping for Dallas as I've never been there and that big screen would be pretty cool to see at a WWE event.

Good move if this happens. New Orleans is always a great host city for the Super Bowl. They know how to handle events like this, and WWE loves any positive media attention it can get. They'll definitely at least get a bit of credit for bringing something huge into that economy post-Katrina, however outdated the reference may be at this point.

Mania at that new Cowboys Stadium would out of this world. Have you seen that huge screen? Eh, New Orleans, I don't know much about the superdome, but I wish it would be held in the east or in Los Angeles. A trip to LA would be nice. I really wish they would bring it to Charlotte, but I'm not holding out hope for that, unfortunately.

I swear if the snow wasn't still on the ground around April I'd beg the WWE to have a Wrestlemania at Commonwealth Stadium, the largest outdoor venue in Canada.

I don't really have a preference for where it is held.
I don't expect to go [I'll just order it] however it is nice that it is a first time host city for a WM.

WM30 at Soldier Field or GTFO. Amen. As much as I'd love it, the weather is so unpredictable here. Hot, cold, rain, or snow, anything is possible. I can't see them taking the chance outdoors at Soldier Field.

With all the wrestling history at the Superdome, I'd actually b tempted to go. Same reason I had the money to go to 29 (not the history of the stadium, but for the rest of the weekend).
We'll see how things go.

I was discussing possible host cities for future Wrestlemanias with a coworker the other day and we were trying to think about (viable) cities that have never hosted before. The first two I thought of were Baltimore and Washington D.C.
I would imagine WWE could easily approach 90,000 at FedEx Field, and as far as I know, the weather is usually pretty decent in April. Warmer than the Meadowlands, at least.

While I agree, you could point to the fact they are doing it at Metlife. Minus the wind off the lake, it's pretty much the same thing. It would be ing freezing though haha. If you have ever been to a Cubs game the first few weeks of April you know they suck, miserably. Soldier Field would be colder inside than Wrigley with the wind chill too. I've sat through Bears games in Nov-Jan so I'd definitely do it and it would be amazing but I can see that as a hard sell. I was hoping for Dallas. If Austin vs Punk ends up being the Main Event then Austin being on home turf with a heel Punk would have been the most incredible thing to witness live. If Punk vs Austin happens I'm going, so I don't mind New Orleans, but it's not my first pick.
