What if Macho Man is still champion in 1989 as a face? What if Vince decided to tackle an expanded market by reaching out to Soap Opera viewers with more adult oriented content (not so much "attitude" but keeping family friendly programming alongside)?
What if the next-generation involves a shocking turn of events that brings the WWF into heavy media spotlight and a hero turns into the most hated man in WWF history? What if the Main Event at Wrestlemania 6 is Macho Man Randy Savage vs. Jake the Snake Roberts for the WWF Championship? How will Vince work with Jake's troubled personal life? This is the story of Jake the Snake Roberts and the Scandal that put him in the spotlight. Note: Although it is staying true to the Hulk-Andre timeline - wfigs.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=wrestlingsims&action=display&thread=262477, it isn't absolutely necessary to follow that storyline first, though it is beneficial as it built Jake the Snake's character as more of a main-eventer and shows that Vince continued The Snake Pit show.Pre-Royal Rumble Information:
In 1989 Wrestlemania V, Jake gets a big push by defeating Andre the Giant in a clean pin. For SummerSlam, Macho Man & Jake Roberts team up to face Ted Dibiase & Rick Rude in a Tag Match. For Survivor Series, Jake is part of Macho Man's team. They are good friends, but all this changes at the Royal Rumble.
Note: Hulk Hogan is in Hollywood doing movies, Roddy Piper did not return at WM5, but returned as a special announcer for Royal Rumble 1990. Due to Andre's health problems, he is unable to compete in the ring. Don Muraco (who was allowed to keep the IC title after WM4) is still part of the Heenan Family and is now a Tag Team partner with Intercontinental Champion, Rick Rude.Royal Rumble 1990, January 21st, 1990 Live on Pay-Per-View Orlanda Arena, Orlando, Florida (Attendance 16,000 Sold Out) Announcers: Vince McMahon, Rowdy Roddy Piper and Jesse Ventura
Earlier in the show, Miss Elizabeth decides that she has something important to do and Randy let's her go. Macho Man Randy Savage (c) def. The Ultimate Warrior for the WWF Heavyweight Championship via Countout (Don Muraco was Intercontinental Champion since WM4 to WM5, Warrior took the title, lost it to Rick Rude at The Main Event II) As Macho Man is celebrating in the ring, Vince McMahon says that something strange has happened in the back and the cameras immediately go backstage and a cameraman is running towards the dressing room, there they see Miss Elizabeth on the floor in tears with a WWF Official trying to help her. Her dress is torn apart and she says she had been violated. Jesse is shocked and says who would be crazy to do such a thing, Vince says this is wrong very wrong and apologizes to the viewers. Royal Rumble Main Event - 30 Man Battle Royal. At No. 11, Jake "the Snake" Roberts walks out to a big pop. With seven men already going at it in the ring, he does his famous (from the Hulk vs. Andre feud timeline) Damien out of the bag gag and the seven men jump out of the ring. Jake points at his wife Cheryl Roberts (at this timeline, she was part of a "Rude-Cheryl-Jake" triangle feud in late 1989) who is shown at ringside. Jake places Damien aside and suddenly, Jack Tunney and Two Police Officers walk out with a few WWF Officials. Jake is in wonder as what is going on. The officers talk to Tunney on the outside. Out runs The Model Rick Martel as Jake starts to beat up on him and hits a DDT. The bell rings and Jake looks confused. He stairs at Tunney as the Officers enter the ring with several officials and arrest him. Jesse and Vince are completely confused as to what's going on. Tunney is in the ring as an officer starts to read the rights (a mic is with Tunney) "Jake Roberts, you are under arrest for the sexual assault of Miss Elizabeth Hulette..." Cheryl Roberts is shown in tears and hiding her face. Jake starts to laugh and shouts "this is insane". Tunney says on the mic he would like to apologize as the crowd is confused and many start booing Jake who leaves with the officers. Backstage (as the Battle Royal is going on), Macho Man goes insane in the back with Elizabeth and he rushes out to the backstage parking lot to see Jake placed in the back of a police car. Randy runs after him and starts kicking the door as WWF Officials hold him back. The Winner of the Royal Rumble ends up being Mr. Perfect. Poison's Edge - Jake the Snake Roberts DVD released in 2001Jake comments in the DVD of his memories of the Rumble: I remembered being called up one day to meet with Vince McMahon, it was around two weeks before the Rumble. He talked to me about how he enjoyed the angle with my wife and (Rick) Rude and said it was the beginning of what would be generally a new WWF Generation; that Rock'n'Wrestling Connection was definitely over. Vince told me that he wanted to change the business to target soap operas. I thought it was a bad way to go and it didn't seem right, but Vince wanted me to be at the front of it all. In fact he wanted me to originally win the Rumble. I wanted to ignore it at the time. Two nights later at a house show where he was at - he usually didn't attend all house shows - he brought me in a private room of his with Randy (Savage) and Liz (Miss Elizabeth) who were already there. I could tell Randy didn't like where this was going, but he didn't hesitate, he was the kind of guy that would do anything for Vince if it would work for the business. Liz said she was willing to go ahead with it, I could tell she was uncomfortable. She was never that shy in the back as she was on screen, but I could tell it felt like it was all real that she could barely look at me that night and everynight thereafter. I hesitated and didn't think I could pull it off.
Vince knew of the demons I was facing, he figured that he would get me through all of this and I couldn't believe that he was offering me the spotlight and more money. It's not like I ever demanded it, I always went with the show, I didn't care so much about championships, but more about being myself and putting on a great show. At the time I was making a million a year, now he was telling me a million bucks (bonus) just to do Wrestlemania VI. The money was great, but it took me a while to figure out what kind of impact this would make on my life and it did, both for the good and the bad.

Prime Time Wrestling, January 22nd, 1990 Hosts: Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby "the Brain" HeenanEarlier in the show Bobby Heenan announces that Andre the Giant will be making a in-ring return soon after a brief haitus. Highlights shown from the Royal Rumble, including the disturbing clips of Elizabeth on the floor shown on PPV. Gorilla: I honestly cannot believe what happened Brain. Bobby: (takes a deep breath in a serious tone) You know in all my years in this business I have never seen something like this happen. (get's angry) I've told everyone from the very start, he's a snake and if you're listening Jake...the Snake, I hope you rot in jail for years to come. Gorilla: Well I've got some bad news Brain. Bobby: What's that? Gorilla: I spoke to the police department that made the arrest and it seems that Jake Roberts has been released. From my understanding, Miss Elizabeth is not pressing charges. Bobby: How could they let this man go? Jake should be in jail, I could only imagine what his wife Cheryl is thinking and I know Rude is upset with what has happened. Gorilla: Oh give me a break Brain. All our thoughts and prayers are with Miss Elizabeth and the WWF Heavyweight Champion, Randy Savage. I cannot imagine what they're going through right now. Bobby: Isn't it obvious? Since the man's out, Randy is going to want a piece of him. Gorilla: Well Jack Tunney had this to say about Jake the Snake Roberts. Official Statement from WWF President Jack Tunney:In the history of Sports Entertainment, there have been in-ring violations and offenses that have at times been often overlooked, but not as big as what happened at the Royal Rumble. It came to our attention that Ms. Elizabeth Hulette, manager of World Wrestling Federation Heavyweight Champion Macho Man Randy Savage was sexually assaulted backstage. Although no witnesses have made any claims, the World Wrestling Federation takes any form of sexual harrassment, assault or abuse very seriously. We have a Zero Tolerance policy for such actions. Therefore, I would like to announce that Jake "the Snake" Roberts has been suspended indefinitely. We will however continue an internal investigation so that something like this could never happen again.
Miss Elizabeth will continue to receive compensation at home as the Manager of the Heavyweight Champion for the remainder of her contract. As for Randy "Macho Man" Savage, the WWF is willing to give a two week vacation time to the Heavyweight Champion.
Here at the World Wrestling Federation we would like to apologize to our viewers for the actions of Jake the Snake Roberts. Thank you. Gorilla: There you have it, Jake the Snake Roberts is suspended from the WWF indefinitely. Bobby: Cheryl if you're listening... Gorilla: Oh cut that out Brain!

[For the past few days, media outlets have already picked the incident up as a major sports news story] Good Morning Grudge, January 24th, 1990 Live Audience Weekly Talk Show, 30 minutes. Host: Vince McMahon Co-Host: Suzette (one of the federettes)Vince: [sitting behind his desk with a cup of coffee] (serious tone) Welcome to this very special edition of Good Morning Grudge, I'm Vince McMahon and here across from me is my co-host, Suzette. For this show, we would like to dedicate it to the Manager of the Heavyweight Champion of the World...to Miss Elizabeth Hulette, as many of you may know was...in such words...sexually assaulted backstage at the Royal Rumble PPV event. The WWF take such actions very seriously with a Zero Tolerance for any such or related acts. Suzette: [sitting across from him on the sofa] I was shocked myself Vince, such things are immoral, degrading...it's just wrong. Very wrong. Vince: I have to agree with you and our thoughts and prayers are with Elizabeth and the Macho Man, so let's first look back at what happened at the Royal Rumble. [Royal Rumble highlights shown specifically to Elizabeth and Jake's arrest] Suzette: You know what's wrong, that man should be in jail and behind bars and instead, he's roaming the streets a free man [crowd boos]. Vince: I agree Suzette and it's unfortunate to see a man who was loved by millions of fans around the world, who's career spanned four years here at the World Wrestling Federation, come to a horrible end. This was a man who defeated men like Bam Bam Bigelow, Ted Dibiase, Rick Rude and of course, Andre the Giant. Suzette: I've heard Andre is making a return to the ring and he wants a match against Jake. Vince: Well don't expect it, Jake's been suspended indefinitely by WWF President Jack Tunney. Anyhow, let's take a look back at Miss Elizabeth's illustrious career as the valet and First Lady of Wrestling. [clips are shown back to back of her career, starting with her introduction as Savage's chosen Valet to Slammy Awards 1987 double win] Suzette: What a woman. Vince: What a career Suzette. Before we continue, I want to be able to bring out our guest this morning a psychiatrist, Dr. Seville who is an expert on sexual harassment cases, especially in the workplace. Dr. Seville (kayfabe, a tall Caucasian with a moustache and glasses; wearing a suit). Doctor: (crowd applause) Thank you Vince. Vince: Dr. Seville, can you tell us a little bit about sexual harassment? Doctor: Well Vince it hasn't gone away I can tell you that is for sure. It is a serious crime and has been since the 1975 Sexual Discrimination Act. Especially in male dominated workplaces, statistics show that more than 50% of women are sexually harassed at least once in the workplace and it can lead to a worse form of abuse and assault. Vince: We have never had a situation here at the WWF, competitors go out and go home after there matches and it boggles my mind that this could happen now; after all these years. Doctor: Although most cases are never reported, it is difficult to ascertain the root cause of the problem. What I mean is that in Sports Entertainment, professional wrestlers are well trained and very disciplined individuals. Discipline is a major part of the training, which is why there is no record of such an incident. But of course there is never a guarantee that this could never happen. Vince: You are right, but do you think that there is a possibility of false accusations in the workplace? Doctor: It can exist and is a very sensitive subject when it comes to any kind of possibility of false accusations. Though rare, most of the time such things happen because of a grudge one may have. Perhaps something as simply as not getting that promotion for herself or for another or perhaps they have a relationship outside of the workplace that doesn't go well, these are usually motivating factors. In fact sexual harassment doesn't just stop with women, it can happen with men too. It is a very serious problem. Vince: Thank you doctor, here is more of the First Lady of Wrestling. [clip of managing the Mega Powers and Macho Man's Championship victory at Wrestlemania 5 against Hulk Hogan] Suzette: She is such a wonderful woman, I am so proud of her accomplishments. Most people can rarely say, I have managed the Heavyweight Champion of the World. Vince: That is very true. We would like to thank Dr. Seville and you the viewers and for our send off this wonderful morning, here is a video of Miss Elizabeth. [Miss Elizabeth music video playing, showing clips from here career as well as after Wrestlemania V] Good Morning Grudge Classic Moments on DVD - Released in 2002Vince McMahon comments on this show: This was the first time we saw a big jump in ratings for the 10:30am slot and the last time it would be a 30 minute show. For a while many told me to cancel the show, to give up on it, we barely used to hit even close to a million in the ratings at times, but this episode alone brought in over seven million viewers; just in that thirty minute time slot. I knew then, with the storyline of Jake's downfall in place, that the show would be picked up for a one hour slot, from 10:30-11:30 am and we started to see the numbers. It took a year to get there and it was worth it.

Superstars of Wrestling, January 27th, 1990 Birmingham, AL Hosts: Vince McMahon and Jesse VenturaHighlights from the Royal Rumble, an announcement is made of the cancelation of the Snake Pit show. Wrestlemania VI is announced to be held at the Skydome in Toronto, Canada. Brother Love Show (post-taped) - Brother Love comes out and says he has a very special guest tonight. It's none other than Hulk Hogan! Hulk: (walks out with a red vested shirt and red pants to a big recorded-pop, lost weight because of acting, first return since Wrestlemania V) Well you know something Brother Love, I didn't expect to be here man, not like this, not so soon. Love: Tell us why are you here? Hulk: I've been outraged ever since what happened to Elizabeth man. As everyone knows, she was once my manager and I couldn't believe that evil twisted snake could do something like this. Love: The world couldn't believe it Hulk, the whole world. Hulk: I'm out here to show my support for Elizabeth and my good friend, Randy "Macho Man" Savage. But I also came out here to announce my intention to attend Wrestlemania VI brother love, but I also think that everyone will agree that another man who has been a hollywood star in the past will be making a return with me. Love: Are you talking about Roddy Piper? Hulk: Oh he'll be there man, but I'm talking about the Eight Wonder of the World, I'm talking about 7 foot 5, 500 plus pounds of a giant, Andre the Giant. Andre: (walks out with a suit on, hasn't been in the WWF since SummerSlam 89) Thank you Hogan [Brother Love's jaw drops he can't believe it] Love: Wait just a minute now just wait just a minute, how in the world are you two friends? Andre: Let's just say I had a change of heart and Bobby Heenan, the answer is no. Hulk: That's right brother, Andre is no longer with the Heenan family man. It was Andre that called me up right after the Rumble, it was Andre who wanted to show his support for Elizabeth and told me to come out here. Andre has turned a new leaf brother. Sometimes it takes a calamity such as this to bring one towards the light brother, to make one realize his or her error. Andre: That's right Hulk Hogan. I'm here to show my concern for Elizabeth and to announce that I will be at Wrestlemania VI. Love: Are you planning a match? Hulk: I can tell you one thing Brother Love, although I may not be in a match brother, Andre the Giant has been working out again, getting ready for a return and I know if he needs me by his side, I'll be there, just as if Macho Man needs me, I'll definitely be there. [they both leave] Love: (still in shock) wow...just wow.

Good Morning Grudge, January 31st, 1990 Live Audience Talk Show now 1 Hour Host: Vince McMahon Co-Host: Suzette Vince: Good morning grudge! This is Vince McMahon with my co-host Suzette and today is a new special one hour edition of our show because we have a big guest here tonight, a guest that is out to protest the decision made last week by President Jack Tunney. A man who now claims he was innocent. I'm talking about former WWF Superstar Jake "the Snake" Roberts (audience boos heavily). But before we talk to the man, we have great things to show you coming from Japan.
[from the 27th, Vince McMahon appears at All Japan Pro Wrestling, shakes hands with Giant Baba and announces that the WWF with AJPW and New Japan Pro Wrestling will host "The Big Event III", a live event at the Tokyo Dome. Clips shown of wrestling matches and talent in Japan. Vince talks about the history of "The Big Event" extravaganza with the first held in Toronto, Canada in 1986, the second event was in Paris, France in 1987 (both events having over 60,000 fans) and the third event will now be in Tokyo, Japan and show live on April 13th]
Vince: Alright, now to a pressing matter regarding Jake "the Snake" Roberts.
Suzette: I'm not going to be here for this one Vince, I know you invited him, but the man makes me sick to see (leaves to an applause)
Vince: Very well Suzette. I would like to first introduce the wife of Jake "the Snake" Roberts, Cheryl Roberts.
Cheryl: (walks out with a sweater and pants) Thank you Vince McMahon.
Vince: Cheryl, I must ask, your reaction at the Royal Rumble...
Cheryl: Vince, I'm here for one reason only and to show support for my husband (audience boos). My husband is a good man, he's a good father to two of our wonderful children and I believe, no I know he is an innocent man.
Vince: Well how about we ask him about what happened, but before we do that let's take a look at what happened at the Royal Rumble.
[Rumble incident shown, thereafter Cheryl's reaction]
Vince: That doesn't look like someone...
Cheryl: I know what you're about to say, any woman would react in such a way if they heard that the man they love was with another woman or worse...you know I can't even think about it (gets angry), this has really gotten out of hand.
Vince: Well let's bring out Jake "the Snake" Roberts.
Jake: (walks out wearing a suit with two security guards and huge heat from audience) Thank you for giving me this opportunity Vince (tries to shake Vince's hand, but Vince looks away).
Vince: Please have a seat (Jake sits beside Cheryl). Jake, everyone wants to know, why?
Jake: I can't believe it (laughs) this is crazy Vince, I'm innocent.
Vince: (gets angry) Jake you were suspended indefinitely in the World Wrestling Federation, you will never be able to wrestle again. What you did...
Jake: (gets up from the couch) I did nothing! (Cheryl calms him down and he sits)
Vince: Alright, let's hear what you have to say. But I want to know, what were you doing the night of?
Jake: I was in the battle royal as everyone saw.
Vince: That is true, but before that?
Jake: I was in my locker room? Why can't people understand, I didn't do anything, I was likely framed or that woman is a liar.
Vince: In all my years...
Jake: Think about it Mr. McMahon, why hasn't she pressed charges?
Vince: That is a very good question.
Jake: That's my point, either she's afraid of someone...
Vince: Like you're self?
Jake: (gets up and reaches out for Vince till his own security guards grab a hold of him) How can you make me guilty? This country, we are innocent till proven guilty. There is no proof and what makes me sick is many women out there...
Vince: Have a seat Jake or I will be forced to kick you out of here!
Jake: (calms down and sits) Is this what this country has come too? Count me out of it (audience boos)
Vince: Alright listen, I'm a fair and partial man, I've known Elizabeth for many years...
Jake: Look Vince, I didn't come out to fight, I came out out here to voice my innocence. I'm asking you Vince, is there any proof at all?
Vince: Elizabeth is proof.
Jake: I understand our legal system works in this way, any woman can make a claim against any man...talk about unequal rights.
Cheryl: Vince, I know my husband was back in the locker-room preparing for his battle royal.
Jake: That's right honey, and you have to ask yourself Vince, where was Elizabeth before Randy's match? What was so important that she had to do and not be beside her man? I'll tell you. I saw her talking to a few guys in the back, more like flirting...(big heat from audience)
Vince: Now this is just wrong...how could you just...wait so wait you admit you saw her before the match?
Jake: Well...yeah...actually I asked her about...
Cheryl: (talks to Jake) What? You never told me...I want to hear this do tell us Jake?
Jake: Honey let me explain, I saw her talking to a few guys, I was ready to get my ballot for the rumble and I approached her and asked her for a title shot against Randy Savage.
Cheryl: You never told me this? When did you ever want a title shot? Randy was your friend?
Vince: Wow...just wow, so Jake did in fact make contact with her.
Jake: That was it Vince, that's all I did and she said she'll think about it and I left. After that everything was news to me.
Vince: Let's say what you're saying is in fact true, just who were these guys that she was flirting with?
Jake: I can't say.
Vince: You can't say?
Jake: I can't say because I know some of these guys and...there is no proof it was any one of them. I don't want to name names.
Vince: These are the same kind of people that would probably blame you. The whole WWF is outraged! Every WWF Superstar is protesting, you even have Hulk Hogan and Andre the Giant voicing out there frustration over what you did!
Jake: My point is, I know I'm innocent.
Cheryl: (with wet eyes) You lied to me.
Jake: Honey no, I didn't I just didn't want to bring it up. I did nothing, you know me.
Suzette: [walks out, Jake stood up to shake her hand as the co-host slaps him in the face] This one is for Elizabeth [slaps again] this one is for your wife who isn't able to stand up for herself (audience cheers). [Cheryl leaves]
Jake: Honey where are you going? Please I didn't do anything! (runs out)
Vince: Well folks, you've heard it from Jake's point of view. We are ending this show with a match in-progress held in Viva Las Vegas between Intercontinental Champion Rick Rude, with his tag team partner Don Muraco as his Manager defending his title against Jimmy Snuka [last two minutes as Rude hits the Ruke Awakening to win the match after Don Muraco gave a beating to Snuka beforehand]

Superstars of Wrestling, February 3rd, 1990 Birmingham, AL Announcers: Vince McMahon and Jesse VenturaHighlights shown from Good Morning Grudge. Brother Love Show:Love: I loooooove...you! [crowd boos] Tonight's guest is a special one, it's WWF President Jack Tunney! Tunney: Thank you for having me on the show. Love: That's because I loooooove....you! Tunney: I'm out here because a certain Jake "the Snake" Roberts (crowd boos), has opened a lawsuit against the World Wrestling Federation. Love: A lawsuit? Just how Mr. President? Tunney: Jake Roberts has asked for his reinstatement and I will not back down, we have a Zero Tolerence Policy and I came out here to let everyone know (suddenly an "attorney" walks out) Attorney: Mr. Tunney, I am Jake Roberts' attorney and I am out here because my client Jake Roberts has a case against the World Wrestling Federation (Tunney looks confused). For one, Since November of last year, Jake Roberts signed a new contract with the WWF that guaranteed him rights to his persona "the Snake" and royalties from all merchandise related to Jake Roberts sold in the WWF. He has yet to receive a single penny from the World Wrestling Federation. Second... Tunney: What in the world are you talking about? What does money have to do with what he has done? Attorney: Secondly, because Miss Elizabeth has not pressed charges... Tunney: Might I remind you she was the one who told us who it was... Attorney: Because she has not pressed charges, this is further evidence of career sabotage from the WWF. We have enough evidence that the World Wrestling Federation could not afford or keep contract promises to Jake Roberts. Tunney: Are you kidding me? (gets angry) Are you kidding me? Attorney: One such contract promise was a guaranteed world title match in the near future. Jake Roberts before approaching Miss Elizabeth, asking for a title shot, approached you Mr. Tunney a week before asking for a championship match against Randy Savage. In return you replied as I quote "No chance in hell". Fourth, the WWF has always been discriminatory to many of its Superstars. In your opinion, Jake Roberts was not "fit" enough for a Major PPV event despite being six-feet-six and 260 pounds, not fit enough to meet your bodybuilding discriminatory view of how professional... Tunney: [grabs unto the Attorney in anger and shakes him to a pop] How dare you...just how dare you who do you think you are... Attorney: Yes! This is more proof of a conspiracy against my client Jake "the Snake" Roberts...[Tunney lets go because Love tells him to stop] I'll meet you in court! Tunney: I'll definitely meet you in court. This makes me sick...I'm outta here.

Good Morning Grudge, February 7th, 1990 Host: Vince McMahon Co-Host: SuzetteVince: [sips on his coffee] Good Morning Grudge! Welcome to another special edition of our show. I'm your host Vince McMahon and my co-host Suzette is unfortunately off tonight. This one is going to be a good one, we have two special guests out here tonight. The first, is the legendary Hulk Hogan. And second, is you got it...for the first time since the Royal Rumble...Ms. Elizabeth Hulette will be here (crowd cheers) During the first half-hour Hogan talks about Andre making a return, his frustration with what happened at the Rumble and they look over a few highlights from recent matches. Vince thanks him for coming. The second half starts after a commercial break.Vince: My next guest is one that I must say is a brave and courageous woman. A woman who has been through so much in her career and even after the incident at the Royal Rumble, she has shown more strength than any woman I have ever seen. I bring you, the First Lady of the WWF and the manager of the Heavyweight Champion of the World...Ms. Elizabeth Hulette (cheers, audience is at a standing ovation). [Elizabeth walks out wearing a turtleneck sweater and loose pants with a bit of a smile as she sits across from Vince] Vince: Elizabeth, it is good to see you smile really...you truly are one of a kind. Elizabeth: Thank you (she says softly). Vince: Miss Elizabeth, I must ask you how have you been ever since the Royal Rumble? Elizabeth: Vince...I...(smiles) I've been strong. (crowd applause) Vince: What a heart, Miss Elizabeth I must ask you...and I know this is going to be hard on you...but the world would like to know, what happened that night? Elizabeth: It's hard...hard for me to say because (gets tearful)... Vince: If you don't wish to answer by all means you have every right too... Elizabeth: No Vince, I want everyone to know... Vince: The floor is yours...take your time Elizabeth: I had to take a phone call that night and I discovered that my...godmother was in the hospital. I couldn't think about managing that night so I told Randy to go out without me. Later, I got a call again and found out that she had just passed away. I was in tears in the back... Vince: Oh my I'm sorry to hear this, she must have been very close to you. Elizabeth: (nods and tearful, takes a deep breath) so I went to Randy's room in the back and wanted to be alone. Suddenly, someone knocks on my door... Vince: Who was it? Elizabeth: At first I though it was Randy, but instead I find...him...that man. Vince: Was it Jake Roberts? Elizabeth: (nods) He came into the room...he was drunk and started asking me why I was crying. He started saying that he was my friend and that he wanted to help me, so he gave me a hug, then he started saying...I can't even say it...he started to move his hands around me and...(camera pans to a near tearful audience) I told him no but he went ahead (holds her mouth and covers her face in tears). Vince: My goodness...(hands over a tissue box to her). Elizabeth: (chokes) my dress was torn apart...I screamed but no one heard and...he ran off. I ran out of the room, but couldn't do it and I...fell. Vince: In all my years...I must say...I mean I'm just sickened that a man like that...(takes a deep breath) I must say Elizabeth that if it means anything, the World Wrestling Federation is continuing its investigations. And from what you've said, I think I would vouch for a ban on drinking for Professional Wrestlers...[out walks the Macho Man with a shirt and jeans, hugging Elizabeth who is in tears] Randy: Oh Vince you have no idea...no idea how much... Vince: I can't say I would Randy. Randy: But there is one thing I would like to say to Jack Tunney, I want that man reinstated. Vince: How could you...Randy how could you want that man, Jake Roberts reinstated? Randy: In some cultures, you just look at a woman and you get beat. This...Vince I want Jake in the ring, I want to face him one on one or else... Vince: Or else what? Randy: Let's just say when you a push a man to the limit, sometimes they go off doing something crazy. Vince: You're not speaking of something illegal? Randy: No just making a point. Tunney, I know of his law suit, let him come back...in fact I want him back for Wrestlemania VI. I want him a fresh man, I want him to beat him at his best (shouts) yah! (audience cheers) Elizabeth: Please Randy...please. Randy: You don't want me too? Because I do and I know you do too! Vince: Elizabeth, how would you respond to the accusations of Roberts who says he is innocent and that you were already flirtatious with some in the back. Elizabeth: (covers her nose/mouth and lets go) I can't believe he would think that... Randy: (takes off his glasses and looks in the camera) If you're watching this Roberts...I challenge you at Wrestlemania VI because this is the only legal way I could give you a real beating yah! (audience cheers) Vince: He did have one point though and I must stress it out for our viewers, Elizabeth, why have you not press charges? Elizabeth: (takes a deep breath and smiles) Because I'm better than that (audience applauds). Randy: That's right Vince, she's a better woman and she knows what better way for a grudge than in the squared circle? And that's why I love her (gets on his knees and holds Liz's hands) Elizabeth, ever since the first day I saw you yah! You've handled a lot of madness, and that was mostly because of me. You've been with me all these years and you know I would do anything for you. The last few weeks you showed me that you were the strongest and bravest woman in the world, that without your heart, I could never have the Heavyweight Championship around my waist. I could never see you hurt and I promise I would make sure no one would. Ms. Elizabeth Hulette, will you marry me? (takes out a diamond ring) Vince: Wow would you look at the size of that thing! Elizabeth: (in tears, smiles) yes...yes I would marry you. Randy: Yah! (spins around) did you hear that Vince? Did you hear that world? As my wedding gift to Elizabeth, I'm going to beat that punk snake at Wrestlemania yah! Vince: Well congratulations, you are both engaged to be married. Unbelievable. But Randy, not to ruin this most momentous occasion, but I don't believe Jake will be reinstated. Randy: Tunney I want my wedding gift, make it so ooooh yaaah! (Elizabeth hugs Randy, hiding her face as well as they leave offstage and Vince ends the show saying good luck to the both of them) Poison's Edge - Jake the Snake Roberts DVD released in 2001Jake comments on that show: This was the first time I'd ever seen Elizabeth act so well out that it made me afraid of my own self. It felt so real and I got afraid thereafter because it made me believe that she believed it actually happened. I also got afraid because right after that I knew it would be difficult for me to go out in the public. So I decided to hit the road more often and Cheryl decided to travel along with me. This whole scandal made a big change in my family's life. Would I have done it again? For the love of all things wrestling yes, but for my family, no.Good Morning Grudge Classic Moments on DVD Vince comments: At first I was hesitant about going ahead with a marriage angle, I thought it would be overkill to have Elizabeth being emotionally unstable and yet being asked to get married at the same time. I didn't want the realism of the angle to go away, but in the end the angle worked out for the better. I wanted viewers to see some kind of happy ending, a feel good moment out of all the tragedy. We saw a rating of ten million viewers, the highest rated episode for Good Morning Grudge's history. I couldn't believe it. We didn't continue the engagement storyline for sometime, but it was worth it just for that morning.

Arsenio Hall Show, February 9th, 1990 Special Guest: Jake "the Snake" Roberts Arsenio: (after having a laugh, gets serious) Our next guest is probably the most controversial figure in professional wrestling history. Media outlets ever since the WWF Royal Rumble pay-per-view event have been talking about this for weeks now. This man is accused of sexual harasment of the First Lady of Wrestling and has sued the World Wrestling Federation for being suspended indefinitely. Tonight he wants to tell the world of his innocence. Known to many as a great professional wrestling hero for many years, Jake "the Snake" Roberts bit the wrestling world with his snake Damien by his side when he joined the WWF in 1986 and has pinned large men like Andre the Giant. Before I bring out this man, I would like to advise our viewers of the sensitive nature of this discussion, but first, we go to a commercial break. [Commercial Break, quick clip of Jake vs. Andre] Jake: (Jake is already out, sitting down on a sofa across from Arsenio) Thank you for having me Mr. Hall. Arsenio: Jake...snake man...I've brought in many professional wrestlers here in the past, this has to be hard for me so I'm going to cut to the chase, Jake did you or did you not sexually harass Miss Elizabeth? Jake: Mark my words Arsenio, No I did not harass, abuse, assault I didn't even touch her at all, nothing said verbally that was inappropriate. I've come out here to prove my innocence to the world and if I gotta go through hell to let everyone know I would. Arsenio: Now let me get this straight, your main excuse is that Elizabeth hasn't pressed charges at all is that right? Jake: Yes that's right. I've been trying to say this, what woman in the right mind, who I believe is lying about it all, would not want to press charges? Arsenio: Well maybe she's scared? Jake: With a guy like Macho Man Randy Savage by her side? No way (a few in the crowd laugh) Arsenio: Fair enough, fair enough, now I've interviewed that man in the past and I gotta say he's a bit of a loose screw (laughs). Jake: That's my point, look she has no reason to be scared, she didn't press charges because she's covering up something or probably accused the wrong man. Maybe she's too afraid of my challenge to Savage, I don't know. Arsenio: Now there are a lot of feminist activists and many complaints sent to the World Wrestling Federation about the incident and most of these complaints are about safety of women in that kind of male-dominated environment... Jake: Bottom line is, we are well trained, highly disciplined athletes and because there is a big staff backstage, I'm talking about officials, doctors, audio-visual guys, ring crew I mean there are so many people in the back that a situation like this, It's unheard of really. Point is everyone in the back is involved in our lives and do watch out for us. Arsenio: Excellent point but I really want to know what your response is from this, we have here a clip from WWF's Good Morning Grudge, morning talk show where Elizabeth explained what happened that night. [Clip from Good Morning Grudge shown] Arsenio: (audience boos, many calling for Hall to kick him out), Jake, you've got to tell me either in your view she's a brilliant actress or, I mean really what do you have to say about this? Jake: Let me share a little bit about my personal life. I've been married to Cheryl, my wife, since 1984. We have two wonderful children together and I've been a happily married man for all these years. My career was going well and I would never compromise my life. I wanted to let you know that a few years back, the Honkey Tonk Man - well he calls himself Honkey Tonk King now - was invited as a guest to my show, the Snake's Pit. He brought in a guitar and smashed it over my head. Ever since then I was never the same, so I started taking painkillers and worse, I became a heavy alcoholic. Two years ago, I finally went through rehab while I was still wrestling and I stopped drinking. My wife has been with me ever since, by my side, whether as a valet or in the audience or backstage, she has been with me and can vouch for me. She was there at the Royal Rumble, backstage. I stopped drinking Arsenio and even till today, I haven't had a couple of six packs, rather I'm drinking fruit juice during a big game on TV. Arsenio: So are you trying to say you weren't drunk? Jake: Exactly, look she probably got the wrong man I don't know, but I have been off the drink ever since. Heck she said it herself she was emotionally unstable because of the passing of her godmother and probably didn't know what was going on. Or she's a brilliant actor or maybe I'm just being set up. Honestly I don't know. The strange thing I found with her story was that she claimed she screamed outloud, someone had to have heard honestly. In fact she claimed that she fell right outside of Macho Man's dressing room, but if you carefully look at the Royal Rumble video, she was no where near that same dressing room...see a major Superstar like Randy Savage can get a personal dressing room, but it's always labeled like a movie star (a few in the audience are shaking there heads, not believing him). Arsenio: Thank you for sharing your side of the story, do you think you'll be seen in the ring again anytime soon? Jake: My lawyers are fighting for it and I'm hoping I will.

Prime Time Wrestling, February 12th, 1990 Hosts: Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby "the Brain" Heenan Gorilla: Did you see the Arsenio Hall show? Bobby: Why are we still talking about that idiot Jake Roberts? Gorilla: Well... Bobby: The man's suspended, indefinitely, read my lips indefinitely. Gorilla: You must be really happy about this? Bobby: Absolutely he deserves to be in jail. Gorilla: Or maybe your client Rick Rude is the one that's really thrilled. Bobby: What are you talking about? Gorilla: Folks, take a look at this match in-progress, Intercontinental Champion Rick Rude taking on Koko B. Ware and you won't believe who was sitting at ring side. Bobby: Who? (smiles) House Show: Rick Rude (c) def. Koko B. Ware to retain the Intercontinental Championship. At ring side was Cheryl Roberts. Gorilla: Next up is an official statement regarding Macho Man's petition and the law suit, straight from the words of WWF President Jack Tunney. Official Statement from Jack Tunney: On February 5th, the Heavyweight Champion of the World, Macho Man Randy Savage requested the World Wrestling Federation to reinstate Jake the Snake Roberts. He has further petitioned for a match at Wrestlemania VI. Unfortunately, our Zero Tolerance policy stands and we take this policy very seriously.
However, it has come to our attention that the World Wrestling Federation and the lawyers representing Mr. Jake Roberts have come to a partial agreement to settle this out of court. First off, the World Wrestling Federation has agreed to pay all remaining royalties as well as an agreed severance package of one years pay. Secondly, we will be allowing Jake "the Snake" Roberts to make an appearance for a statement at The Main Event III scheduled for February 23rd, live on NBC. Gorilla: What do you think of that "Brain"? Brain: He's got to have some good lawyers, because from what I can tell, he couldn't afford them on his own. He's likely got help. Gorilla: What makes you say that he couldn't afford them? Brain: Did you see what he wore at the Arsenio Hall show? He probably went to a thrift store for thrift stores. Gorilla: Oh cut it out. Let's now go to a match in-progress for the WWF Heavyweight Championship between Don Muraco and Macho Man Randy Savage. House Show: Macho Man Randy Savage (c) def. Don Muraco for the WWF Heavyweight Championship via pinfall (Big Boss Man came out and knocked down Don Muraco with his baton out side of the ring as Randy made for the elbow drop win) Bobby: You know Muraco had the match won until that good for nothing pig of a policeman... Gorilla: Give me a break Bobby: You heard me, I know Muraco's secret weapon for Wrestlemania VI Gorilla: Well you are now his manager, so tell us what is the weapon? Bobby: Donuts. Gorilla: Donuts? Is that the best you can come up with? Bobby: Yeah, he'll be biting on a few while the Muraco Hammer finishes him off for the pin. Gorilla: (shakes his head) Well "Brain" who do you think Macho Man Randy Savage will face at Wrestlemania VI? Bobby: You know I'm hoping it's Andre, because that two-faced good for nothing Giant... Gorilla: He was your friend for years Brain! Bobby: Turning down my offer was a dumb idea. Gorilla: Why Andre? Bobby: Because it's his last match, when he wins the title he'll vacate the belt and the Heenan family will be all over it. Gorilla: As much as I would love to see Macho Man get his hands on Jake Roberts, so far it doesn't look like a possibility. Bobby: Roberts? Jake Roberts? That'll be the day. Gorilla: Well folks we got three major events coming in the next couple of months, first is The Main Event III scheduled live on NBC on February 23rd. On April 1st, we have be live on PPV for Wrestlemania VI and of course The Big Event III returns on April 13th and will be shown live when 55,000 fans in Tokyo watch the greatest Superstars of the World Wrestling Federation, NJPW and AJPW.

Superstars of Wrestling, February 19th, 1990 Austin, Texas Announcers: Vince McMahon and Jesse VenturaThe main event match at The Main Event III has been announced to be Ravishing Rick Rude vs. Randy "Macho Man" Savage for the WWF Heavyweight Championship and Jake "the Snake" Roberts has been confirmed to be at the event to address the World Wrestling Federation and its fans. Jake Roberts has issued out a restraining order to Randy Savage. Randy will not be able to reach him within 100 feet. Vince says this is crazy and Jesse says it'll be a good thing so we can see what the man has to say without Macho Man killing the man. Randy "Macho Man" Savage Promo: Oooh yah! The Main Event III is coming and I got a match with you Rick Rude, you may be the Intercontinental Champion yah! But before I beat you for the one, two, three I'm going after you Jake Roberts yah! I'll beat you down, chop you up and have you for breakfast yah! Vince: Wow (laughs) Jesse: I think the Champion of the World has gone beyond insanity McMachon and he'll probably end up in jail before he meets with Rude. Vince: Let's hope not! Jesse: Randy Savage should be focused on his match, because Rick Rude is no ordinary man, he's the Intercontinental Champion and he's got Bobby Heenan by his side. For all we know Rude will be walking out of the Main Event with both titles McMahon. Vince: I will have to agree with you Jesse! Rude could win the championship! Jesse: It's about time you agree with me. Vince: Also in attendance will be Andre the Giant and Hulk Hogan!

The Main Event III, February 23rd, 1990 Joe Louis Arena, Detroit, MI (Attendance: 21,000 sold out) Live on NBC - Two Hour SpecialWe start off with the announcement that Buster Douglas, who became the "World's Heavyweight Boxing Champion" in Tokyo by defeating the previously undefeated Mike Tyson, will now be a special guest at Wrestlemania VI instead of Tyson; who was originally scheduled to be a special enforcer. It's explained that Tyson's managers pulled him out of doing the event and they congratulate Douglas on the win. We start off the show with Andre the Giant walking out in the ring. Andre speaks a few words about Elizabeth and how a great woman she is and he talks about his decision to retire, till suddenly the Honkey Tonk King (with a guitar) and Greg "the Hammer" Valentine walk out with Jimmy Hart (Tag Team known as Rythem & Blues). Honkey and Greg shake hands with Andre and Jimmy Hart starts to talk about bringing Andre on his side. Andre says he doesn't want to be affiliated any longer with any family except with these fans and that he will retire. Hart says not to retire and that he has great things for Andre planned. Andre says "Just like I told Bobby Heenan, the answer is no". The crowd cheer on till they scream out for Andre as the Honkey Tonk King grabs a hold of his guitar and slams it on Andre's back; breaking it into pieces. Andre shouts and Greg hits the hammer over his head, Andre is badly hurt and falls on his knees. Suddenly, Hulk Hogan rushes out to a huge pop. Running in the ring and punches both Greg and Honkey as they roll out of the ring. Hulk grabs a hold of a scared Jimmy Hart. Hart pleads for his life and Hulk does a wind up and pokes Hart's chest who flies out of the ring in fear for his life as Hulk laughs. Hulk helps Andre up and Andre says he wants a tag match against Rythem & Blues at Wrestlemania VI and asks Hogan if he will be his partner. Hulk shouts yes and issues out a challenge to Hart as the three out of the ring exchange words. Later in the show it's announced that the team of Hulk Hogan and Andre the Giant will go up against Rythem & Blues with Manager Jimmy Hart at Wrestlemania VI. Jake "the Snake" Roberts walks out to huge heat with security guards by his side. A few people throw trash at him. He's in the middle of the ring with Mean Gene who has a mic. Gene: Jake "the Snake" Roberts, in all my years I never thought this day would come, as a man who's career is unmatched by many, came to an end out of a scandal and now Jake, what do you have to say for yourself? Jake: I've come out here to speak my mind, to tell it like it is because as a happily married man, I wanted to let everyone know that I did not harass, abuse or assault Miss Elizabeth in anyway possible. I'm an innocent man and I am here to plead not only to the fans, but to the World Wrestling Federation to reinstate me. Gene: How can you believe that you could be reinstated after all that you've done? Jake: When did we become a bunch of commies? Where you are guilty till proven innocent? Gene: I do apologize Jake, I am not a lawyer or a judge, but the general public believe that you are responsible for what happened at the Royal Rumble! (crowd agrees) Jake: (laughs) The public will believe anything they want to hear (crowd boos), I came out here because when I approached Elizabeth, I asked her for a title shot and I want a title shot. [Rick Rude walks out] That's right I want to challenge Macho Man Randy Savage for the WWF Heavyweight Championship! Gene: That would be something, but our Zero Tolerance policy will not allow... Jake: I'm begging Tunney, I'm asking the WWF to reconsider, heck put me on a probationary contract, anything (Rude is in the ring)...what do you want? Rude: First of all tell all these good for nothing, out of shape men in this city who can't satisfy a real woman to keep the noise down, because I've got something really important to say and show all these fine ladies. Jake: (laughs) This has got to be some kind of joke, Rude you have no business being out here. Gene: This one I agree with Jake. Rude: Well Jake, I think your wife disagrees (Cheryl steps over the railings with the help of security as she was in the crowd and enters the ring). Cheryl, why don't you tell your husband here the good news. Jake: Cheryl, what...what are you doing? Cheryl: Jake I love you, but for my children, for me...I want a divorce. Jake: What? You want a divorce? (in utter shock) Cheryl: Yes Jake, I'm done with this, all of it. Jake: Please honey, don't do this. You've been with me all the way, you know I stopped drinking, you know the evidence I have! (gets on his knees and holds her hand) Please Cheryl, I never did anything (gets tearful, some in the crowd actually are sympathic to Jake for that moment), I never... Rude: Look at the crybaby on his knees, but that's not the good news. Cheryl, why don't you tell him? Cheryl: (let's go of Jake) Jake I...I've decided to work with Rick (the crowd is in shock) Jake: What? You've gotta be kidding me (still in tears as he stands) Rude: That's right Jake and now for all you ladies, enjoy seeing this body of mine stripped down for the last time because it's going to be exclusive from now on (strips from his robe and has an image of Cheryl on his tights and his rear has a crying Jake image). You see Cheryl is going to be by my side as my personal valet. Jake: Why? Just why Cheryl? Cheryl: (slaps Jake with mixed reactions from the crowd) Jake it's done. Rude: (laughs) So here it ends Jake, the end of your career (out walks Dusty Rhodes to a pop) What in the world is that tub of lard doing out here? Gene: Ladies and gentlemen, Dusty Rhodes! Rhodes: (gets in the ring with his polka-dot shirt) I have a few words to say. I've never known Elizabeth to a liar, but I also know Jake, the kind of man he is. Gene: What kind of man? Rhodes: I'm not taking sides here, but Jake has always been a good man and is a good friend of mine. We go way back in our training days [kayfabe] and it's hard for a man like me to accept that Jake can do such a thing. However, I also think there seems to be something wrong here. Just a few weeks ago Cheryl, you were supporting this man, you were with him through thick and thin and this is how you repay him? Rude: (staredown with Rhodes) Why don't you stuff five corndogs and a six pack down your mouth, because that's the kind of trash you are. [Rhodes knocks down Rude with a right hook knocking him out of the ring. Rude leaves the ring with Cheryl, exchanging words. Meanwhile, Macho Man Randy Savage is rushing down through the audience] Gene: This is getting intense! Rhodes: I want to help Jake, because that's what people do because it doesn't matter what others think if you're telling the truth man, then I want to believe you. I want to at least try. [Randy runs in with a crowbar, already attacking the security officials for Jake and as he is ready to attack Jake in the ring, Rhodes grabs a hold of him as Randy struggles. Jake looks at Randy with teary eyes shaking his head] Gene: I'm sorry this has happened Jake, you have a restraining order against Macho Man, Randy please you must leave. Jake: No, no forget it (to Rhodes) let him go. Please just let him get it over it, let him take it all out. [Rhodes tries to calm the Macho Man down, Macho Man says he'll calm down and then knocks Rhodes in the face with the crowbar. He goes face to face with Jake] Gene: Stop it Macho Man! Can someone backstage get this man off the stage?
Jake: Do it...do it.
Randy: I've been waiting a long time for this...
[Jake closes his eyes as WWF Officials run in to grab unto Randy. Randy swings the crowbar around to scare off the officials. Randy holds it out ready to smash Jake's head and decides to drop it]
Gene: Thank you Randy.
Randy: No...no....not like this, Wrestlemania VI Jake, I want you in the ring...(low angry tone) you hear me...Wrestlemania...
[Jake looks away and smiles at the crowd still teary, he kicks Macho in the stomach and lands a massive DDT to the mat. The crowd boos aggressively. Jake leaves the ring towards the back with security.]
Macho Man Randy Savage (c) vs. Rick Rude for the WWF Heavyweight Championship.
Results - At the climax of the match, Rude hits the Rude Awakening on Randy and goes for the pin. Sapphire is out to distract the referee as Dusty Rhodes hits the American Dream. Bobby Heenan goes after Sapphire till Rhodes runs out leaving behind a weakened Rude. Out comes Sensational Sherri who attacks Sapphire. Macho and Rude are up and they both lock up, Macho throws Rude out of the ring as Jake Roberts makes a run-in, giving a DDT on the outside to Rude. The referee is distracted by Sherri now, Jake looks at Cheryl who is pleading at ringside and Jake Roberts decides to run in and gives the DDT to Randy. He walks out of the ring as the referee counts to ten (Rude still being out of the ring) for Macho to win.
Winner: Macho Man Randy Savage via Countout.
Backstage with Mean Gene:
Gene: Jake Roberts, I can't believe what is going on, this is the second time tonight you attacked Randy.
Jake: Only then can the message be sent out Gene, let's have a match or I'll sue the WWF for allowing Macho Man to violate the restraining order (Sensational Sherri walks in)
Gene: What is the meaning of this?
Sherri: I saw what these kind of women can do, Elizabeth who is the classy whore and Cheryl, Cheryl how dare you? How dare you try to leave this man?
Gene: Are you telling me that the both of you...
Jake: Think what you want Gene (laughs and gets serious), think what you want because I'll need all the allies I can have.
Gene: Like the high-priced lawyers?
Jake: Oh don't even go there (laughs as Sherri and Jake leave)
Gene: I can't believe it back to you Vince!

Good Morning Grudge, February 28th, 1990 Host: Vince McMahon Co-Host: SuzetteVince: Good morning grudge! I'm Vince McMahon and this is my co-host Suzette and today we've gotta show for you! First off, Rick Rude with Cheryl Roberts will be our first guest this morning followed by, WWF President Jack Tunney who will be making an official announcement regarding Jake the Snake Roberts and Macho Man Randy Savage. To start things off, let's show you what took place at The Main Event III. [Main Event III highlights] Vince: Alright our first guest is the WWF Intercontinental Champion Rick Rude and his new "personal valet", the soon to be ex-wife of Jake the Snake, Cheryl Roberts. Rude: [walks out with Cheryl] Vince, you are looking at the man who was about to become the next World's Heavyweight Champion. Vince: Indeed, you did have that opportunity. Rude: Opportunity? Dusty Rhodes needs to stop eating potato chips like all these out of shape men our here (gets heat). Vince: Well I gotta ask Cheryl this, Cheryl, when did you decide to leave Jake? Cheryl: I never intended too, but I'm glad he signed the divorce papers. Vince: This must be hard for the both of you, but why are you with Rude, for months and months now you have been stalked by this man... Rude: Stalked is a harsh word and the fact is the divorce is going to be an easy one for her. Jake has agreed already to give up half the stake and she doesn't need alimony, she's got a real man to take care of her and satisfy her (laughs) Vince: Well Rude you got what you wanted out of all this. Cheryl: There is something I want to say to Jake. Vince: By all means, go ahead. Cheryl: Jake, I have always loved you...but do you remember that night in early January, when I missed the flight? Rude was there with me and...(takes a deep breath) Vince: Rude was with you? Cheryl: I fell in love...with this man. Vince: You have got to be kidding me. Rude: That's right Vince, Cheryl is my woman and Jake, you got what you deserved! Cheryl: I never meant for it to happen, we just ended up getting a hotel...I needed a place to crash...and we became intimate. Vince: My goodness. Rude: Enough about Jake, let's talk about Rhodes. Vince: Speaking of Rhodes, take a look at these highlights from the Sports Arena, where Randy "Macho Man" Savage took on Dusty Rhodes for the WWF Heavyweight Championship. [Match is shown in progress, Rhodes hits the American Dream, but Macho counters it to hit a DDT. Macho hits the elbow drop for the pin] Vince: Now I must say that was strange, Macho Man hits Jake's signature move, the DDT on Dusty Rhodes. Rude: (laughs) It's fantastic Vince, that dusty slob, he got what was coming to him, but I would have preferred if he had the gold because a Rude Awakening would have given me two Championships at Wrestlemania VI. Later in the show...President Jack Tunney walks out.Vince: Thank you for coming Mr. President Tunney: I'm glad to be here. Vince: Mr. President, I must ask, what is your opinion regarding Macho Man's actions at The Main Event, well folks take a look. [Clips shown of Macho Man's crowbar incident] Tunney: Macho Man has been fined for his actions by the WWF. That kind of behavior does not belong here. Vince: That is agreeable, but on to Jake, what about his reinstatement? Tunney: After careful review, we have decided that Jake the Snake Roberts will return to the ring under a probationary contract. Vince: On probation? Tunney: That's right Vince. At Wrestlemania VI, Jake "the Snake" Roberts will take on Randy "Macho Man" Savage for the WWF Heavyweight Championship.Vince: Wow, this is unbelievable. Tunney: There are some stipulations and conditions however. Vince: Please share with us. Tunney: If Jake Roberts wins the match, we will give him a new WWF contract with the Championship. If Jake Roberts loses, he can never return to the WWF. Vince: Wow, looks like the kind of match Randy will want. Tunney: Because of Randy's actions, we have decided to make this match a No Disqualification and No Countout match. That means by pinfall or submission in the ring, there must be a winner Vince: This is great news, I can't wait to see this one. Poison's Edge - Jake the Snake Roberts DVD Jake comments on Wife: Cheryl and I didn't except to end up with this storyline, but we knew that the business was changing. I didn't think Rude wanted to have a valet, he already has Heenan and he didn't want another. It was hard for Cheryl to do this, because it wasn't myself who looked like the most evil guy in entertainment, Cheryl was a cheater now. It was all about the dramatic effect, but we still went along with it. I thought about the effect it could have on the kids, especially from my first wife. Funny how we do a divorce storyline and ten years later it comes true. That's life for you.

Superstars of Wrestling, March 3rd, 1990 Pheonix, Arizona Announcers: Vince McMahon and Jesse VenturaRowdy Roddy Piper in a promo comments on the Royal Rumble incident saying that he wants to rip apart Jake the Snake Roberts and hopes the Macho Man ends the Snake's career once and for all with a beating of a lifetime. He also talks about managing Virgil, who will take on Ted Dibiase at Wrestlemania VI for the Million Dollar Belt. He hypes up Virgil by saying that he'll go on to greater heights. Sensational Sherri def. LeiLani Kai for the Women's Championship, Kai hits a suplex to win, but referee was outcold. Sherri hits a diving splash for the pin. After the match, she takes the mic and talks about Jake's innocence and that she is supporting him all the way to Wrestlemania. Jake the Snake Roberts Promo (looking better in shape): Well well well (laughs), Wrestlemania VI is less than a month away and Elizabeth, I hope you show up because you need to be a woman that could stand up, stand up and be that. I want you to watch your man, your macho man lose the World Wrestling Federation Heavyweight Championship to the man you accuse, the man who you're afraid of. All you worried about was to see my end, you hated my friendship with your man, a jealous woman who knew that I would become the next big superstar in the WWF and now because of what you've done soon things will go down worse for you and your husband to be.
You see Macho Man, there ain't nothing macho about you because a DDT was enough to take you down, down on the mat. I'll DDT you again (gets angry) oh I'll do it again and again and again. So next time you try to go through the snake's trail, remember a Snake chooses his own path, think about it, you'll never find the end and you won't even know where it started and at the end of Wrestlemania VI, I'll be standing with the gold and my innocence intact. Jake the Snake Roberts shoot interview in 2005: Back in the 80's I started working out in the gym, heck a guy my height could look good and when Vince found out about it, the first thing he says was "what the hell are you doing?" (laughs) Vince wanted me to originally be a jobber to Hogan's foes and I was meant to be a sexy mysterious man that wasn't a body builder like Hogan. By the time my career reached its peak and my feud with the Macho Man and the scandal begun, I walked in to the office one night and he found out I wasn't hitting the gym and then he asked me the same question, "what the hell are you doing?" (laughs) That's Vince for you and so I started hitting the gym again for Wrestlemania (VI), it was a good relief from all that was happening.

Prime Time Wrestling, March 12th, 1990 Hosts: Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby "the Brain" Heenan Gorilla: Well Brain, we are weeks away from Wrestlemania VI and the big one, Jake the Snake Roberts taking on the WWF Heavyweight Champion, Macho Man Randy Savage. Bobby: Everytime I hear about it it makes me wonder if Jack Tunney should even be President anymore. Gorilla: Wait what are you talking about? Bobby: I'm talking about getting rid of Jack Tunney, the guy reinstated Jake the Snake Roberts, the Zero Tolerance policy has been spat on and with what happened to Elizabeth, it all happened right under his nose! Which is why I'm petitioning the board to get rid of Tunney. Gorilla: You do realize that Tunney is your boss? Bobby: (takes out a list) In fact I've got a list of 150 signatures from WWF Superstars, big names! I've got Managers and workers on this list who feel that Tunney should no longer be the President of the World Wrestling Federation. Gorilla: And who should be president? Bobby: (smiles) Me! Gorilla: You've gotta be kidding me! Bobby: No way, I've got the experience, I've managed a Heavyweight Champion of the World, a Woman's Champion and I'm currently managing the Intercontinental Champion. I've got the experience of working with WWF Superstars... Gorilla: Brain, you could petition all you want but Jack Tunney has done everything in his power... Bobby: Power? Power the guy hasn't been a good President at all... Gorilla: He's been good to you Brain, he gave Andre a long vacation when he was champion, he allowed Rude to keep the title after that controversial win against the Ultimate Warrior and he gave you this show... Bobby: I'm a co-host, this should be my show. Gorilla: (shakes his head) And how do you think Tunney will react to your petition? Bobby: He'll resign, that's right at Wrestlemania VI I'm campaigning for President of the WWF. Gorilla: You do realize there is no election? Bobby: No election? We'll see about that. Gorilla: Well folks we got a great match to show you, the champ Randy "Macho Man" Savage taking on Mr. Perfect. [House Show: Savage grabs a hold of the bell and dives from the top rope, crashing it over Perfect's head for the disqualification] Bobby: You see what I'm talking about? The guy's a lunatic, that kind of action should have never happened. Gorilla: Oh cut it out Brain. Bobby: Seriously, I get what Savage is going through, but not like this. Perfect could have had that match won and he suffered a concussion right after that! Gorilla: Now let's be honest Brain, if that was Rude using an illegal weapon in the ring... Bobby: He wouldn't use a weapon, how can you ask such a thing...now that I remember, I need you to sign the petition, the more the signatures the better. Gorilla: You seriously want me to sign that thing? Bobby: Fine forget it. Gorilla: So what platform will you base your presidency on? Bobby: Fairness (Gorilla laughs), yeah you heard me, more security guards, new rights and royalty shares for merchandise for managers and valets, the immediate termination of Jake Roberts and a Special Enforcer will be used in every match to ensure something like that could never happen. Gorilla: Good luck with that one Brain (laughs) Bobby: You'll see! The Brain - The Bobby Heenan Story on DVD Heenan on his campaign: For a long time Vince had a deal with the Tunney's up in Canada, but this time around, Vince wasn't happy with Jack as an on-air President. With a new generation unfolding, I pitched to Vince about starting an election campaign, especially when there was a midterm election campaign in the States to get reaction from our viewers. Vince goes and says how would you like to try to run for President? Me? A possible heel President? Works for me Vince (laughs)!

Superstars of Wrestling, March 17th, 1990 Pheonix, Arizona Announcers: Vince McMahon, Jesse Ventura and Bobby HeenanHeenan throughout the show called for the end of Tunney's reign as President of the WWF and said that the board has taken the petition, but hasn't heard a word from them. Wrestlemania Report: Randy "Macho Man" Savage Promo Ooooh yah! Jack Tunney you made the right choice yah! Fine me do whatever you want with me because at Wrestlemania VI I'm coming after you Jake yah! I am the Heavyweight Champion of the World, the cream of the crop, the true king of Wrestling yah (takes off his glasses)!
Look into my eyes Jake, look into the eyes of the devil, the eyes of the lord and master of the ring, because this devil's coming for your end! After I'm done with you, you'll never step foot in the ring again! (shakes the camera as he leaves) Heenan: What a lunatic Jesse: I have to agree with President Heenan Vince: Oh stop that, Tunney is President and the Macho Man has every right to be angry. Jesse: How come you haven't signed that petition McMahon when you had the chance? Vince: Because I don't agree with it, Tunney has done nothing wrong. Heenan: Reinstating Jake Roberts is nothing wrong? Vince: Under a probationary contract! Heenan: Which gives him a chance to continue wrestling in the World Wrestling Federation! Vince: If he wins that is and I have my money on the Macho Man. Jesse: Of course you would.

The Oprah Winfrey Show, March 19th, 1990 Special Guest: Jake "the Snake" Roberts Vince comments in a Shoot Interview in 2001 about Elizabeth: I got a call just after Geraldo wanted to do a show involving Jake, Randy and Liz, the phone call was from Oprah asking if Miss Elizabeth could show up on her show. Everyone was telling me I should have done it, should have gone for it. The problem was that I didn't believe Elizabeth could pull it off, the bit on Good Morning Grudge was enough for her. She wasn't trained in this regard and if Oprah asked the hard questions, the whole thing was at risk. Wrestlemania VI was booked big time, the media was all over it, I had so many complaints to deal with that I didn't want it to all blow over. We already projected that we'd have the biggest PPV buy in the history of PPV. We did a pre-booking campaign and found over two million signed up the first day. I wanted this one thing to feel so real. So I thanked Oprah and said no. After a while she called up again and she asked for Jake, that is when I knew, let's do this thing. Poison's Edge - Jake the Snake Roberts DVDJake comments on his show with Oprah: Wow...I was a nervous wreck when Vince called me up and said to catch a flight because I'm going to be on Oprah. The hard part was trying to convince someone as intelligent as her that it wasn't a work. I think she kind of knew, she's interviewed wrestlers before and once did WWF commentary back in '85. So I started writing everything I was going to say...then it hit me, I tore it all up and said to myself that I'm going to make people believe. That was the great thing about Wrestling back in the day, we were all trained to make people believe, now it's about making people believe that wrestlers believe. A tragedy I guess.Oprah: My next guest is the most controversial man in wrestling history. I'm talking about WWF Superstar Jake "the Snake" Roberts, who has beaten big men like Andre the Giant in the ring. Of course we all have been asking the question, is it a circus or a real show? Let's bring this man out, ladies and gentlemen Jake Roberts. Jake: (walks out with a smile and sits across from Oprah) Thank you for having me on your show. Oprah: Jake Roberts, you recently filed for divorce am I correct? Jake: (nods) Well it was my wife Cheryl that filed for it. Oprah: How has that been for you? Jake: Hard, really hard but that's life it happens. Oprah: I want to let the viewers know about the accusation made against you. Jake: (nods) It's false I can tell you that go ahead. Oprah: During the Royal Rumble as you call it, the First Lady of Wrestling, Elizabeth Hulette, who is Randy Savage's wife by the way, was sexually assaulted backstage. She accused you (a lot of heat from audience) and you believe you're innocent why? Jake: Oprah I want to be honest with you, I grew up in Texas, been a professional wrestler for years now and this has never happened before. I'm innocent because the truth is it never happened or I think it's a cover up for all we know. It's all speculation here, she didn't press charges and that's why I can sit here across from you. Oprah: What people want to know is if Wrestling is a circus? A mere show, a fake? Jake: Life's a circus Oprah, you win some you lose some. It's about how you react to it all. Oprah: You're not answering my question, you see your owner, Vince McMahon...he's said in the past that it's Entertainment, or as he calls it Sports Entertainment. Jake: It's an artform Oprah, just like martial arts or boxing, but what you see is the real deal. I've been injured, beaten, broken, the blood you see isn't from a ketchup bottle (a few laugh), we get cut and we bleed just like everyone else and I can tell you it hurts. Oprah: Is it all pre-planned? Do you go out everyday in the ring knowing who wins or who loses? Jake: Would you ask Mike Tyson that question? Because I don't think the world believes for one minute that Buster had a chance, and Buster Douglas beat him. Oprah: Well if Wrestling is Entertainment, don't you think it's wrong to exploit Miss Elizabeth in such a way? The matter of sexual assault is no joke. Jake: Is it wrong for CNN to show a couple of bodies laying bloodied in the streets from a war? Is it wrong for the movies to exploit women with rape, killing and nudity, heck all this stuff is on TV everywhere? I think the WWF has been trying to show a positive message about the realities of sexual harassment and yes it's no joke. Oprah: Do you think it's dangerous for a woman in that kind of workplace? Jake: You know Oprah, I think it can be in any workplace. If it's true that over 50% of women are sexually harassed at least once, then yes I believe it can be. But women have been in this business for a long time and I know they are the strong ones. Oprah: Sexual harassment is a serious issue absolutely and you're accused of it, yet you weren't charged, why? Jake: She didn't press charges, so there is no case, there is the biggest proof of my innocence and at Wrestlemania VI, I'll be going up against Randy Savage for the WWF Championship. Oprah: Now I invited Elizabeth on the show and I was told by Mr. McMahon that there was no deal, rather he was more than happy to have you on the show... Jake: Look Oprah, the one you should be asking is Elizabeth, I can't speak for her. But I know this, I know I'm not one of your best choices on the show, I'm an innocent man and I got a chance to prove myself at Wrestlemania and since Vince is a business man, I'm sure he wants to protect the integrity of the WWF. Why not have the villain do it you know? I mean I wasn't called up one day and told "hey you're gonna be a bad guy", it happened on its own, the people made me who I am. Oprah: Thank you for coming to the show, Jake "the Snake" Roberts will be making his in-ring return challenging Elizabeth's husband Randy Savage for the Heavyweight Championship at Wrestlemania VI, on April 1st in Toronto, Canada. I don't think I'll miss that one! Poison's Edge - Jake the Snake Roberts DVD Jake continues his comments: After it ended, I went straight on the plane, flew out and had a huge breather, I could only imagine Vince McMahon giving me a lecture or getting angry. I knew I said nothing wrong at all and I find out that Vince was happy with it all, even if she talked about him being the real owner and Randy and Liz's marriage. Good thing was, we canceled the program for Geraldo, this was all we really needed.
After this show not only did you have feminists coming after me, this became the most talked about event in the history of professional wrestling. Forget Hulk vs. Andre, it was the Snake vs. the Madness. It was a match to remember (laughs) and I remember it.

Wrestling Challenge, March 22nd, 1990 Hosts: Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby "the Brain" HeenanSigning of the contract between Jake "the Snake" Roberts and Macho Man Randy Savage with President Jack Tunney. Gorilla mentions that the restraining order isn't being violated as Jake agreed to this, however Macho Man cannot make physical contact. Security guards are there with lawyers. Sherri (without facepaint) is sitting beside Jake, but no Elizabeth. Macho Man is twitching and red in anger, staring at Jake across from him. Tunney: Gentlemen, you have read the contracts and we ask you to sign for the main event at Wrestlemania VI for the World Wrestling Federation Heavyweight Championship title on the line in a No Disqualification and No Countout match. Mr. Roberts as per contract agreement, if you lose the match, you agree never to return to the WWF. Jake: Before I sign, I gotta say a few things. You see I actually don't have to sign this when I think of it, I might as well not have a match at Wrestlemania VI and instead Mr. Tunney, I want go for the full contract. Tunney: Jake we agreed to a probationary contract and this match... Jake: I'm not sure (laughs), places the contract aside. Macho: (bangs his fists hard on the table) what are you trying to pull? Jake: Where is she Randy? Where is she? Because I know I would like to grab a hold of your woman's hair... Macho: (gets up) Don't push me! Jake: (laughs) I want Miss Elizabeth by your side, I want to see her beautiful face. Macho: (pushes the table as security grab a hold of Randy) She'll be there! (calms down and sits) She'll be there. Jake: Good, then I'll sign...just one more thing, after I'm done with you Randy, I'll not only grab a hold of Elizabeth, as she lays there begging for mercy and when I jerk her off her knees I'll slap her silly. Tunney: This is getting out of hand Jake. Macho: Just sign the damn contract! (shouts outloud) Jake: (laughs and signs the contract) Now Mr. Savage you sign. Tunney: (grabs a hold of the contract) That'll be enough from you Mr. Roberts. Mr. Savage, please sign the contract. Macho: Contracts...this isn't just any contract! This is a contract from hell and you'll know what I've been through after I'm done with you! (throws the contract in Jake's face and leaves as Sherri is laughing). After the end of the contract signing, Gorilla comments on how Jake is a master of mind games and how wild this match will be as Heenan says this is just more proof of Tunney's failure to control two deranged men.

Good Morning Grudge, March 28th, 1990 Host: Vince McMahon Co-Host: SuzetteVince: Good morning grudge! I'm Vince McMahon and my co-host Suzette is off this morning. Today we've got a great show for you, our first guest is Bobby "the Brain" Heenan who will be discussing his campaign for the Presidency of the World Wrestling Federation. Thereafter we've got Sensational Sherri, who has been supporting Jake "the Snake" Roberts and may be at ringside at Wrestlemania VI, while preparing for her Championship match. Heenan: (Vince welcomes him and they shake hands, "Hail to the Cheif" music is being played) Thank you for having me on the show I'm so excited about being here. Vince: (laughs) Are you running for President of the United States? Heenan: No, but that doesn't mean I never would. I'm out here today because I got a response from the Board of Directors. Vince: Tell us Mr. Heenan, what is the answer from the Board? Heenan: They've said they'll consider a performance review. Vince: A performance review? Heenan: That's right, if they vote no-confidence in President Jack Tunney, he'll be out of here. Vince: Let's say in a hypothetical situation that Jack Tunney is fired from the World Wrestling Federation, what makes you sure that you would have a chance? There are several members on the board might think otherwise. Heenan: There's some things you don't understand when it comes to running a company or in politics, there is always a chance and I mean to have the Board elect me as the new President. Vince: Why have Tunney out? Heenan: First of all the big mistake he made was re-instating Jake "the Snake" Roberts. That sicko of a Snake should be in jail, not only is he guilty of his crime, he interrupted a match, which would have never happened under my watch (a few laugh) and worst of all, he threatened to hurt Elizabeth. What kind of sick human being are you? Vince: Well we can ask Jake... Heenan: No I'm talking about Tunney, what kind of sick human being are you Tunney, yeah I know you've been trying to get me fired, but I'm not going anywhere. Vince: Mr. Heenan I think that Tunney has done everything in his power to handle the issue, he's done investigations and I think you forget that the WWF was sued by Jake Roberts. Heenan: That's the thing, I would have never given in to such demands. I would have negotiated a hard bargain or take Jake to court. In fact I would look into the funding behind Jake's law suit. Vince: What do you mean? Heenan: You've probably heard the rumours Vince, that someone backstage has been providing money to Jake to hire high-priced lawyers to take on the WWF. Now what would someone have to gain from all this? Vince: Sounds like a conspiracy theory to me. Heenan: Conspiracy or not, I know who's behind it all. Vince: Do tell us? Heenan: I'll let everyone know at Wrestlemania VI. Vince: We'll have more after this match in-progress between The Demolition taking on the team of Rick Rude & Don Muraco for the WWF Tag Team Championships. [House Show: Rude pins Axe for the three count, but the referee decided on a disqualification instead when he saw Smash beating on Muraco instead] Heenan: What a travesty, talk about politics! Vince: I have to agree that this was a strange decision from the referee. Heenan: I'm telling you Vince, this is Tunney playing politics backstage. He knows that Rude and Muraco are my men who won the Tag Titles that night! But no, the referee decides on a disqualification, I mean this was the worst decision in wrestling history. If anyone has watched tag matches in the past, they know what I'm talking about! One of the first things I'll do as President is fire that referee just like I'll fire Jake Roberts if he wins the Championship. [In a shoot interview, Heenan claimed the referee botched the count, but it was a great way to turn it around for his campaign] In the second half of the show we have Sensational Sherri who walks out to much heat and without her facepaint and in a dress. Vince: Welcome to the show, wow I must say you really do look sensational! Sherri: I walk out expecting cheers, is this what I get? I am the WWF Women's Champion and I expect everyone out here to give me some respect. Vince: And you are well respected as a Champion I'm sure, but I don't believe everyone agrees with your alliance with Jake "the Snake" Roberts. Sherri: Jake Roberts is a tragedy, the man's been through rehab, he's going through a divorce to the same woman who was stalked by a man who she's now managing. Then you have that good for nothing Elizabeth who I know is a lying cheating woman who flirts with other wrestlers behind Randy's back. Vince: Wow those are some strong accusations. Sherri: I've seen it with my own eyes! Vince: Now you say Jake Roberts is a tragedy, but the man is going to Wrestlemania VI, getting what he wanted before this all started, a shot at the Worlds Heavyweight Championship. Sherri: And I'll tell you one thing Vince, I guarantee that Jake is going to come out the victor. Vince: Guarantee? How can you be so sure? Sherri: (laughs) Never trust a snake. Vince: I hope you learn that lesson yourself. What about the recent news of Sapphire missing? Sherri: Missing? What are you talking about? Vince: She's had a few matches scheduled and hasn't shown up at all, though I must say there were early sightings at a recent show where she may have been sitting in the audience. Sherri: (laughs) Are you kidding me? What is she a UFO? (audience laughs) And it's a good thing, because at Wrestlemania VI, if she doesn't show up I can turn my attention to helping Jake Roberts. Vince: Well no, but I don't think there is anything funny about a missing person. Sherri: Problem is Vince she may be missing, but I never said anything about her being a person, so there is a difference. At Wrestlemania VI, you can bet that I'll come out the undisputed Women's Champion and so will Jake Roberts walk out with me as the New World Wrestling Federation Heavyweight Champion.
