Not sure why anyone would give Condit one round. He knocked him down, and pounced on him, but it didn't even last a whole minute. Then Georges reversed and got back on top for the other 4 mins of the round. Condit hit Georges hard and dropped him, nearly got the finish. GSP did reverse him and get control back, but he didn't hurt Carlos the way Carlos hurt him. I definitely see the argument for Georges winning the round, but to me, Carlos' kick and follow up was more substantial than GSP's ground and pound efforts.

Dana said at the post-fight press conference that they're going to have to go back and ask Barão to defend the interim Bantamweight title. Cruz is going to be out longer. Cruz is ANOTHER one. He's always sidelined. I hate all this "interim title" stuff... they're so pointless - it just seems like nothing more than an official No.1 contender's spot. It may be harsh - but if a champion can't or won't be able to defend the title within a certain time-period (12 months maybe?), then strip him of the title and have the 2 top contenders battle it out for the title proper. Rant over.

I think its stupid too. Barao will now have to wait even LONGER to fight Cruz, its crazy. It really is.

The kick with the opposite leg that Condit struck right on the side of St.Pierre's head was just brutal. But it was a good fight regardless.

I think its kind of sad that Hominick was the dude fighting for the title, and now he's got 4 straight losses and has looked terrible in his latest losses.

He's lost a step. That's one thing if it was Tomkins' death, but it's clearly noticeable.
But I gotta give him respect for coming in every fight trying to get the KO.

So disappointed Condit lost. Never have I ever wanted a fighter to win this much. I was so confident going into this fight Condit would finish GSP. I noticed Condit was a bit tentative on the feet, not sure why. GSP never even tried to take him down until he was backed up against the cage. Only other time he took him down was from a leg kick. I don't see Condit getting another title shot again, this was his time to shine and he seemed content on giving GSP his "hardest/greatest" fight. So bummed....

Then Georges reversed and got back on top for the other 4 mins of the round. That is the reason the scoring system needs to be changed. Almost finishing someone and doing massive damage is scored less than control...

Sorry but 4 minutes of control > 53 seconds of almost finishing. I can see if Condit pounced on him for like a minute or so, gained mount, etc, but he didn't.
And I'm very curious as to why people were so confident Condit would win. I LOVE Condit as much as the next guy, but he gets taken down in every single one of his fights, and Georges is the master of top control AND wrestling. I'm a firm believer in 'styles make fights', and I just thought GSP's style would always beat Condits.

I'm a firm believer in 'styles make fights', and I just thought GSP's style would always beat Condits. The most significant strike and damage was done to GSP in that round. GSP was on top controlling, however Condit was constantly attacking off his back throwing elbows and punches. Does attacking off your back mean nothing because it's viewed as a "losing position"? I don't know how you can still disbelieve in Condit's ability after GSP was nearly finished. I thought condit would be more aggressive on his feet and create more scrambles to sweep or stand up. People talk about being surprised by Condit's performance, me on the other hand thought condit could have done a lot more. Condit has shown in the past his active and amazing guard against Ellenberger, DHK, Kampmann, and Macdonald. He used scrambles, submission attempts and sweeps to stand up or get top position. If you re-watch any of those fights you will see none of them were able to do anything in condit's guard.

I thought Condit's best chance was to blitz him with strikes and not throw as many kicks early. Condit was getting his guard passed numerous times (although GSP never wanted to go to mount), but that 53 seconds was a huge moment for him, yes. I would STILL score the round for GSP. Even for the few moments that Condit DID have top position, he was swept everytime.
