The most I ever "marked out" in a toy store is probably a tie for when I found my Elite 12 Kane and my Battle Pack 15 Bella Twins.
I found Kane after about a month of pretty much looking for him non-stop at Kmarts in my area since in late December into early January, Kmart was the only store that got Elite 12 in one of their stupid cubes....then I happen to find him at TARGET not even expecting anything because I went there for something else.
With the Bellas....I went to Walmart every day for a month. Missed them twice, probably only by a few hours. Then I finally found them and I was just so relieved.
First world problems, I know...but yeah, it does feel REALLY good when you FINALLY find what's been driving you crazy looking for.
Right now I'm having a real hard time finding Elite 17 Zack Ryder. I have Elite 9 Zack Ryder so it's not to the "driving me crazy" stage, but I do want it. Missed him at TRU and Sears, but my Walmart hasn't gotten Elite 17 in yet and I hear from people on here that there's have been stocking Elite 17 big time in the last 2 weeks or so, so maybe mine will soon too.

Just a question for everyone in the thread...
When you find your holy grail figure, what if you don't get it at retail? What if you had to pay a higher price to get it? Is the feeling of having it in your hands still awesome for you if you had to pay more than you're comfortable paying?

If ever "Buyers Remorse" sets in its in that scenario. Kinda the only time I remember that it's "Just a Toy".

Weird that everyone likes the Nash... I saw one and let it sit, figuring I had so many others of Nash, I couldn't be bothered.
Was that a mistake?

Is the feeling of having it in your hands still awesome for you if you had to pay more than you're comfortable paying? Since the thread is already bumped, why not throw in my two cents... even though I already posted on page 1 To answer your question: It does feel nice having that figure you want in hand even though it was an online purchase, but there is no nicer feeling when you do find it in a store. Sure the collection feels more complete by making an online purchase, but you don't get that victory feeling like some would when you find on at retail. I am biased as I live and work close by the major retailers so I do have a major advantage over other figure hunter, but it is still a competitive hobby none-the-less. So when I buy I buy with pride. NTM retail is going to be the best price possible for some of these figures. Sometimes I want to cave in and pay scalper prices, but it only makes the feeling even better when I finally do find "that special figure" and proving that patience is truly a virtue. I have only ever had to buy 3 figures online this year (not including figures that are only sold online) in my collection and even at that I still managed to get deals on them. Thank god too because these were ones I was never going to see in stores. BTW +1 to MrPerfect25 on his post. Not only did I laugh my @$$ off, but I am using it as my sig. I don't know I missed it the first time around

Somebody on ebay sold me a MOC Nash for 23 total and its gonna be here tomorrow probably. Pretty excited to get this one!
I always try to find retail ones at retail but Nash has eluded me so far so I just decided to pay a couple bucks extra, its worth it to not drive around being disappointed anymore.

I've never really had that experience of looking high and dry for a figure, then finding it. In the UK, it's usually been a case of striking as soon as they hit or missing out. But lately, Toys R Us and Smyths have been stocking the hell out of elites. Every figure from series 16 and 17 has been pretty easy to find, except Nash, which wasn't released here. And possibly except Ryder, I don't think I've ever seen one apart from the one I got.

Yeah I havent had problems finding the various series but the revision cases really bug me because alot of stores dont restock the same series of elites. I wish they would just pack them evenly in the first assortment and then make adjustments.

As it's nearly Christmas, my local Smyth's have OVERSTOCKED series 17, they have loads plus another 2 boxes unopened which is annoying as I bought the only Kelly Kelly fresh out from TRU thinking she was limited about 2 months ago. I don't know how easy series 16 was as I wasn't really looking, but I remember when Smyths did that 4 day 25% off thing, they had 1 elite Punk left which I decided to get.
