I'm sorry, but why does he deserve a title fight?
Oh, that's right. He doesn't.

Hendricks in no position to demand anything? Id say as the unquestionable number one contender I think he is.
What a BS decision. Why is it forgotten that caused a a bunch of issues when the fight was first slotted to fight GSP(not showing up to press conferences), he is coming off a loss to the guy GSP just beat AND he's coming off a year suspension. Meanwhile in this time, Hendricks has beaten 3 top welterweights, 2 by spectacular KO. And they're giving the fight to Diaz. What crap.
Its simply a money thing. Diaz will probably draw more than Hendricks would in that slot because of his trash talk.

GSP asked for the fight. And... like it or not, whatever people say on a wrestling figure forum or even an MMA forum, people WANT to see this fight.
And, yeah... because he has absolutely no history at all with Nick Diaz, and he didn't call out Diaz before his fight with Condit? This is the second time GSP has asked for this fight. Last year, Dana pushed Condit (who was also considered the #1 contendor) aside, to make the matchup with Diaz. They clearly have a score that needs to be settled.
Ranking wise, a case can be made for Diaz being #3, after Condit & GSP. It's not like he's calling out a guy that's way below Hendricks in the rankings or in skill level.
I guess it's cool for Edgar and Sonnen to get title shots in different weight classes, but when it's a fight a lot of fans wanted to see for YEARS, it still gets sh*t on, more than likely because it's Diaz.

Lol, it has nothing to do with it 'being Nick Diaz'. This isn't a few years ago, things have changed. Nick Diaz's popularity has absolutely sky-rocketed. Currently Nick Diaz(or the Diaz bros in general) has probably one of the biggest fanbases in MMA today. This is nothing more than a money fight. Of course there's history between the two, that's why it's a money fight. No one is doubting that, and everyone sees it for what it is. I don't see what argument can possibly be made for Diaz deserving a shot over Hendricks other than it being more marketable.

And that's what it is. Marketing and a money fight, everyone KNOWS that, so why get pissed when everyone supposedly wanted to see it anyway? Have MMA fans really gotten to the point where they take rankings over fights they actually want/wanted? heh.

I just take issue when a fighter runs his mouth, that all of a sudden carries more weight than what you do inside the cage. IE. Diaz, Sonnen. But of course I'm still going to watch it. I'll just have to live with it. It's not my company.

Obviously there's a lot of backlash because a lot of people wanted to see Hendricks fight and thought he deserved it because what he accomplished in the past year. It's more than taking rankings over fights they wanted to see. Diaz lost his last fight, lol. I think that's one of the biggest problems people have with this. But meh, a money fight is a money fight. I want to see Jones/Sonnen, but in no way did I think he deserved the next shot. But hey, a lot of people wanted to see that fight, so let's forget about Hendo. It is what it is.

Edgar lost his last 2 fights, Sonnen lost to Anderson twice and is now going to fight Jones. Haven't heard too many people crying about this.

Fans would be a lot better if there were no titles and no rankings.

There was huge backlash over Sonnen getting the title shot...
Let's be realistic, the 125/135/145 division doesn't get much love as it is. It's not really a popular division. I don't think people really care who gets a shot.

I think the only people who weren't pissed about Sonnen getting the LHW shot were Sonnen fans. I think Edgar got a pass from the fans because he loss what was still a close fight, & people wanted to see him drop down because there was no depth at featherweight. Not that it's any different, but just my opinion.

No depth at FW? Aldo is just a ing beast. Anderson is the best in the world, but the days of middleweight being called empty are far in the past. Aldo is a beast, you're right. But Aldo vs. Jung being one of the biggest fights down there is still ludicrous. Diaz vs. GSP? Cool, I guess. I'd definitely prefer Hendricks vs. GSP, but whatever. Diaz can fight someone else. Personally, I had Diaz winning the fight over Condit, but it is what it is. Johnny has been a KILLER and he deserves this fight.

No depth at FW? Aldo is just a ing beast. I mean there is no one in that division who is a legit threat to Aldo. He's a machine. I've got nothing against Koch, but when he was announced to get a title shot, that's when I stepped back to look at the division. Then enters Edgar & while I love Frankie & do think he's going to give a legit threat to Aldo, he's a REAL challenger for the belt.

Well personally, I LOVE this fight... I was actually hoping they'd do this instead of GSP Vs Anderson or Hendricks. I can understand why many Hendricks fans are pissed off - but there's unfinished business between GSP and Diaz and it's a fight that's been brewing ever since Diaz was the Strikeforce champ. I don't really think Nick deserves an immediate title-shot after a loss and suspension, but (like with the whole Jones/Sonnen situation) it's a hugely marketable and exciting fight.
