Anyone else in love with these movies?
I utterly despised all things Harry Potter until late last year. Came across the first 6 at Walmart for 4 bucks each last Christmas season and was like "I can't rightfully hate these without giving them a chance" --
Picked up the first one -- was back there getting the 2nd and 3rd that night. Since then, fallen in love with this whole Universe, reading the books now, etc. Just a bummer that my favorite is DH Pt 2, so I have to wait til the very end to enjoy my favorite.
Any other Potter fans? What's your favorite?

I enjoy them, but they are nowhere near my favorite.

Oh, they're definitely not my favorite franchise, by any means. But they're certainly in the Top 5.
It's depressing to me that I'll never have the chance to Direct a movie for it now. Unless Rowling suddenly decides to start up the books again.

I had a big marathon, back when DH2 was about to be released. Philosophers Stone - Has not aged well at all Chamber Of Secrets - pretty good, first I saw in the cinema Prisoner of Azkaban - the kids really started to hit their stride and put on amazing performances Goblet of Fire - Loved the whole Triwizard Tournament concept Order of The Phoenix - God awful, watched it maybe 3 times? all the others more times than I can count Half Blood Prince - The movies have got increasingly darker as the series went on, but this is the one I felt was noticeably darker, plus Malfoy had an amazing showing in the film Deathly Hallows 1 - Felt really unique, because it was almost entirely out of hogwarts, didn't see the point of bringing in Bill Nighy for 2 scenes or whatever, still overall great storytelling, probably the best performances in the whole series Deathly Hallows 2 - Loved it in the cinema, when it was shown on tv a few months ago, I thought hey, this movies gone abit quick, sure they've cut something out, the movies not even 2 hours long, feels so rushed Anyway, favourites from most to least are Half Blood Azkaban/Hallows 1 Goblet of Fire Hallows 2 Chamber Philosophers Order

Mine is: DH Pt. 2 HBP Goblet Order Azkaban Chamber DH Pt. 1 Sorcerer's I actually liked Order quite a bit. I like them all. But DH Pt. 2 I love because it's just non-stop blowing stuff up and HBP is, as you said, very dark. Alan Rickman is in my top 10 list of actors I want to work with because of this series. The guy's just so talented and I hear he's super cool and reserved.

Love it. (beware of spoilers)
I keep a Deathly Hallows pendant hanging from my reear view mirror, and I plan on going to see Potted Potter soon, and I will eventually own the 31-disc wizard box thing.
I refuse to re-watch any of the movies in the meantime, so I can experience them on Blu Ray.
Ive never read the books, but I believe ill get them and follow along in audiobook. The series is just too long to put that kind of strain on my neck.
I really enjoy the David Yates films (5-8) the most. He really brought in the darker tone that was only hinted at by Cuaron and Mike Newell. But I like the way the directors transition regardless. first two are more child oriented and colorful from Columbus, then they clearly are older for the third (Cuaron) and its not so kiddie anymore, Fourth (Newell) showed that things are getting edgy and pretty serious then the last stretch was Game time, leave the toys at home from Yates.
I think my favorites in no order are Chamber, Order, and DH2. Those are the standout films for me. I want to say Sorcerers Stone is my least favorite, but that would only be because of its childish overtone, which isn't fair since its supposed to be that, so otherwise I want to say Goblet was the weakest movie in my opinion. The Triwizard Tourney storyline was just too off-focus for me. I understand it, but I just didn't enjoy it as much.
I think my biggest gripe with the entire film series, was that there was really no payoff with Harry and Malfoy. There was no epic final battle for them, no clear-cut resolution, just a Confused, misguided Malfoy leaving with his parents, and were led to believe he never pursues Harry again and they become good acquaintances. I understand if they didn't want to off Malfoy as a corrupted youth at the end of the story, but come on, he was the Anti-Harry, his Rival for the entire series, and theres no conflict resolution with them? Poor execution on that all around.
And I love Luna Lovegood. Dont look at her.

I hate to be that guy, but books > movies. Movies are still great though. As to the discussion with Order, its not the best film but not the worst, whereas Order is by far the worst of the books imo with Harry being a little bitch.

I'm almost done with Order (book) now -- some of the books are better, but some of the movies are better. Thus far, I'd rather read Sorcerer's, Azkaban and Goblet...but I'd rather watch Chamber and Order.

Poor execution on that all around. And I love Luna Lovegood. Dont look at her. Luna's all yours man. I got a thing for redheads so I'm much more inclined towards Bonnie Wright. Yates' tone through his films just progressed so beautifully. I don't think there's a Director out there who could have ended out the movies quite so well. I put Sorcerer's at the end of my list for the exact same reason you said, it's tone, but again, I didn't dislike it. If I had to go on Directing solely, my weakest would be Azkaban, I can't quite put my finger on it, there's just something I feel is missing from the overall vision. I don't mind the payoff with Malfoy/Harry. Malfoy was simply a stand in to me until Voldemort got there. They needed to have someone around to threaten him when the 'Big Bad' wasn't there. I got about half way through Chamber before I had to crash out this morning. Might try to get through Azkaban tonight. Watching all of them while shot listing my next project. My life is just damn good at times.

Don't like the films or the books. Watched the first two films and didn't like either, tried to read the first book but couldn't finish it.

I prefer the books over the movies, but the movies aren't bad. Love the series all around though. Emma Watson and Bonnie Wright makes the movies even better IMO.

I've recently picked up all of the Ultimate Editions on Blu, in hopes of watching them soon. Still need to get Part 7, but aside from that I got the rest of 'em.

Let me know if they're worth picking up. I want them badly just for all the extras. Hours of in depth behind the scenes stuff on each one of them? Yes, please. They're expensive as hell for my taste though...

Dumbledore vs Voldemort is still one of my favorite cinematic scenes. I could watch it over and over and never be bored of it.

I love the movies and books. The books obviously were my favorite as they were able to go into greater details about everything. But I love most of the movies and if I have to rate them from favorite to least favorite:
Prisoner of Azkaban Philosophers Stone Deathly Hallows Part 2 Goblet of Fire Deathly Hallows Part 1 Half Blood Prince Chamber Of Secrets Order of The Phoenix

Reading the books at this moment out of boredom, and actually got into them. Won't watch the movies till I'm done with the rest of the series though.

I'm only finishing up Prisoner of Azkaban now and -- Idk, it's a lot of peoples' favorite, or at least near the top and it just doesn't keep my attention very well. It's playing in the living room, and I'm in my studio.
This is disappointing because I do enjoy a good werewolf, and this is the only movie that outright has em in it. Unless you count Fenrir of course.
