Really absurd (but logical).....I just read the article on the news stating that these figures were discontinued, and all of a sudden prices went skyhigh!

Have you guys seen how much their going for on eBay it's ridiculous. I grabbed a Stephen off Amazon for 49 which ended up being the last one at that price. They had Schultz and Candie for 39 at the time an hour later those were gone and replaced with listing for hundreds of dollars. I've been watching them just recently. I saw these on Entertainment Earth and figured I'd just wait until I saw the movie to decide if I was going to pick them up. I didn't realize they had been cancelled. Now it seems Django and Schultz, the two I want, are going for $350 or so each. Broomhilda, Ha! Forget about it, couple thousand dollars each. I'm not sure I can justify picking up Django and Schultz. They are amazing figures, with great packaging and very nice outfits, but it's $600-700 for for ing dolls. It pisses me off when stuff like this happens. I just want a couple figures of characters from a movie I really enjoyed and people are scooping these up like they're going to put their kids through college with them. I don't think anyone is going to give a sh*t a few years from now. Maybe I can pick one up then.

It's crazy they were discontinued after people complained that they weren't suitable for children, seeing as they aren't MADE for children.
It's a shame that there was a fuss over them though, as I had considered getting Django. I would have preferred a normal NECA styled figure, but oh well.

I'm wondering if these are still a possibility. Enterbay is still putting out their masterpiece figures of Candie and Django so maybe they can do a line similar to what they did with Kill Bill and slap "Adult Collector" on them. The dolls were clearly for adults though. The packaging, the price point, none of that was directed at kids. It was gorgeous presentation imo. I sent NECA an email expressing my disappointment with the whole situation, but I have yet to hear back from them. It came down from the Weinstein's so I'm sure something financial had to be worked out since NECA surely paid a pretty penny for the license. So either NECA will be making more toys using the Django license specifically directed at adults, or there will be some type of reimbursement made. I'm hoping for additional figures. Put Broomhilda in the dress from the end of the movie or leave her out, I don't care, but give me Django, Schultz and a Candie for my display case.

It isn't the style of figure that is the problem. It really isn't all that surprising that some people got upset about these figures. At the end of the day three of the figures are of slaves and one is of a slave owner. That is controversial material.

Apparently Al Sharpton was behind this dumb crap. Maybe somebody should make a Tawana Brawley action figure, complete with feces accessory!

Looks like ebay's getting in on the action. They removed all listings for the Django figures, including the Enterbay ones.

Damn! I get the controversy of the slaves and the slave owner, but going as far to ban them? DAFUQ? It's a figure based on a movie. How are kids, if they are even interested in them, going to do "bad" things from a figure? No chance in hell they are going to start treating black people as slaves. People need to harden the up and not get "offended" by everything.

Prices are starting to come down a little on amazon with the exception of Broomhilda. I got lucky last week and scored a complete loose set for a really good price!

No not really. Only some online retailers and some comic shops.
