Figured I'd post this in here rather than making a new thread, what's the best piece of equipment to lose a gut? I'm tossing up between getting a treadmill or a cross trainer in my room, I'm assuming the cross trainer is better but is there another piece of equipment even better? Cheers guys No one piece of equip to help lose a gut. Proper nutrition mixed with a good workout program(not necessarily cardio) will do the trick. I was a PT for 5 years, I competed in natural bodybuilding competitions, and I currently run. During my college years I HATED cardio. I maybe did 5-15 minutes for a warm-up or something but that was it. Thus I stayed lean by eating properly and lifted 4-6 times a week. Hope this helps.

I genuinely think that ya cant beat walking outdoors at a good pace for serious all round exercise.its way better than cross trainers etc etc.
when Im on the early shift(6am-2pm) I walk 7k after work every day with my Huskies......I lost a good bit of weight and didnt change my diet in any drastic way.try get a route with a few hills on it.you will be A1.
and exercise in the morning is great.its just getting in the headspace to do it.several of the trainers in the boxing club used to say that if you can manage a few pushups in the morning it will get your motor running for the rest of the day.

I just wanted to point out the sheer irony of the top two Lounge threads, one being about a healthy morning workout, the other about various chicken.
OT, because of my job, I don't have a morning workout, but that's going to change real soon.

I'm not nearly as experienced in fitness as you are, but I must say this response is perfect. Ben, I don't think that you need a fancy-pants machine. You can jog outside (put a sweater on if it's cold!) if you must do cardio. If I were you, I would put your cardio mech money on a decent weight bench/barbell/plates combo. For fat loss, I suggest slightly reducing calories, choosing smarter calories, lifting in order to preserve lean mass, lots of slow movement, and occasional sprinting ('best bang for your buck' activity). Like JokerFC said, walking is amazing. It isn't as agonizing and destructive as long-pace cardio and is very natural (think about them nomadic cavemen walking for long periods of time, occasionally sprinting away from tigers and stuff LOL). Not so much the cold as the rain I will look into weight bench/barbell/plate combos! Was actually hoping you'd reply seeing as you're the fitness guru Cheers to all who replied!

I feel like each time of day has its perks. On a perfect day I will train cardio first thing then have a good workout later in the day after getting some good food in.
