Hi
Have been collecting (and back on here) for 3/4 months now and notice there doesnt seem to be as much excitement as there use to be when the jakks cs line was around.
Also havent heard much from the MDT so wondered wht they are like from people who have been around recently for longer. As they as involved and do they communicate as much as Jeremy from Jakks did?
Is the buzz just gone because alot of people (like I) stopped collecting? Ie: the build up to protos doesnt seem as much
Thoughts welcome..
Ben

seems to me like "News" is far too spread out these days. We get all these big announcements at the toy fairs & ringsidefest and then nothing in between. With Jakks we used to get a new lineup & info every 6 weeks or so.
Plus with Mattel, Ringside usually has stuff in stock before we even see prototypes. So we never even know what our figures are potentially going to look like. And on top of that a ton of stuff just magically appears at retail, with no info or communication other than someone on here walking into a store and finding it.
The excitement is there AFTER the facts now, and not before....like it used to be.

Mattel line is doing great as far as I'm concerned. Just no real news lately.
And I must have missed the days when there was excitement over the Jakks line. Always seemed to be anger & disappointment when final protos were released.

Same when new protos are released. The only problem sometimes we go weeks without any news. And another is we sometimes don't get protos till a few short weeks before the figures are released. And there are pros and cons to that... Con- Sometimes we have to order stuff without knowing what we are getting. Pro- What you see is what you get. Very seldom have they completely changed a product from proto to shelves.

Sometimes they are very straightforward on saying no to suggestions in the suggestion box

I think it is the way Mattel releases information. In my opinion they don't get the 'double pop' for a lineup like other companies (Jakks and McFarlane come to mind) do with a new series. Both of those companies double up on the same news by announcing a lineup, then several months later showing the figures, each time they get some buzz going. With Mattel they always wait until they can show the figures before they release the lineup. Personally, I liked it when they are announced and shown seperately, because it does feel like more news going on.

Mattel give us details regarding to the E21 line up and accessories in one of the recent threads. That was generous of MDT.

Other then picking up some older elites/legends I'm not really buying anything till E21. My wallet can use a break right now so I don't mind the down time.

I actually enjoy when this happens. Like a few weeks ago when that Big Show w/ the white IC Belt got posted. It was a great WTF moment.
