Silva/Sonnen II was definitely my MOTY. I know people still grieve over Chael's blunder with the backfist and wanted to see how the fight could have went had he not of tripped, but to hell with all that.
That was probably the most emotionally driven UFC match in history, second only to possibly Ortiz/Liddel I. The build-up to the actual moment...I still remember pacing during the walkouts like it was yesterday, the staredown...
Then what I consider one of my favorite moments in SPORTS history (not just UFC/MMA) Silva's genuine response to Sonnen afterwards. That honest to God crumbled the foundation of disdain I had for Silva and he's one of my favorites now. It was all just so much to take in, I loved every second of that rivalry and glad they were able to square things away afterwards.
Anderson solidified his greatness, and Chael's not doing so bad afterwards either, lol.

^ What he said. The other highlight of 2012 that stands out for me is the return of GSP... it was always going to be an event, but it also turned out to be a great fight and the crowd/atmosphere was off the charts.

For me it was Vitor getting a title shot and nearly submitting Jones in the 1st round And also Cung Le's KO of rich was SIIICCCCKKKK.

- Aldo's celebration after knocking out Mendes. INSANE. - Alves beating the dog piss out of Kampmann for about 3 rounds, goes for a takedown towards the last minute of round 3, and gets submitted. Haha. - Chan Sung Jung vs. Dustin Poirier -- 'nuff said. - Jamie Varner's KO upset of Edson Barboza at UFC 146. - Eddie Wineland's KO on Scott Jorgensen. - Cub Swanson's 3-KO comeback streak against 3 top notch guys. I'll always love me some Cub Swanson. - Forrest Griffin totally ruining Tito's post-fight interview at UFC 148. - Silva vs. Sonnen II at UFC 148. - Mark Muñoz just absolutely destroyed by Chris Weidman. - Basically the entire UFC on FOX 4 main card -- Mike Swick's KO win, Varner vs. Lauzon, Lyoto's picture-perfect KO punch on Bader, the WAR between Vera and Shogun. Great card. - Belfort's near-submission on Jon Jones. I literally jumped out of my seat. - Brad Pickett's uppercut KO on Yves Jabouin. - Nogueira showing Dave Herman that jiu-jitsu does work at UFC 153. - Cung Le and his BEAUTIFUL one-punch KO on Rich Franklin. That was another one that made me jump out of my seat. Props to old-man Cung for that one. Probably KO of the year, MMA wise.
I know I probably listed too many, but those are the ones that stick out for me.

I'd say UFC 153 in general was a great moment to me as well. Just enjoyed the entire show.

I'm a sucker for the Brazil shows. Plus the moments between Big Nog and Silva were priceless.
Also, easily my favorite fight-ending knee. But to each their own.
Can't debate UFC on Fox 4 however.

How the could I EVER forget to mention Edson Barboza's spinning heel kick at 142? , that one happened in January of 2012, and it was the best KO of the year, now that I think about it. Etim went STIFF.

boetsch and okami was probably my favorite fight of the year. okami brutalized him for 10 minutes, there was no question that boetsch was just a run of the mill middleweight... and then that 3rd round...
amongst everything else that was already mentioned.

Sonnen/Silva II made my 2012, personally. Agreed. My MMA moment of the year. The 10 seconds of the spinning back fist & the knee to the body is something I'll never forget.

My favorite moment in 2012 was KOREAN ZOMBIE!!!
my most hated moment in 2012 was the fact that we only got to see 1 fight from KOREAN ZOMBIE!!!
