I thought they were a solid heel tag team.
They burst onto the scene in '93, were featured prominently throughout their run, then vanished suddenly and were never heard from again. The same thing happened with Ludvig Borga.
Were there any vignettes before they debuted? Jacques, who was obviously The Mountie, had not been seen in the WWF since WrestleMania VIII. I know he was despised by the Kliq, but Pierre was pretty agile for a bigger guy and carried a lot of the workload during their matches. Adding Johnny Polo only helped them draw more heat from the fans. Their music was classic and they had a pretty cool finisher, too.
What happened to them? They lost by DQ to Men on a Mission at WrestleMania X and the next thing I remember they had dropped the belts to The Headshrinkers (who I thought were still heels at the time). I heard something about Jacques getting injured, but I don't know if that's true or not. Pierre stuck around and became a pirate. He disrespected Nash at a house show and that pretty much sealed his fate.
They really did have a great repertoire of tag team moves. That Boston Crab/leg drop combo is one of my favorites.

Apparently after they lost the belts to the Headshrinkers they had an argument, and had a brief feud (don't remember this on TV) and they had a match, which was Jacques's first retirement match in 94. Pierre than became the pirate character Jean-Pierre LaFitte. His biggest success if you want to call it that, was a feud with Bret Hart, where he stole Hart's ring jacket.
In 96 they reformed in WCW as The Amazing French Canadians. Col. Robert Parker managed them, and they had a brief feud with Harlem Heat who was managed by Sherri Martel. Apparently they also lost to Arn Anderson and Steve McMichael in Anderson's last match.
They came back to WWE briefly in 98, once again as the Quebecers, but they used the Amazing French Canadians ring gear. Pierre competed in the Brawl for All. He then returned to WCW, becoming part of Lance Storm's Team Canada, with Storm giving him the Hardcore Title, which Storm had renamed the Saskatchewan Hardcore Invitational Title (S.H.I.T. )
I also remember Pierre having a brief run in TNA, wearing as a mask, under the name X.

^ I literally never knew ANy of that. Well done man. Two parts I had just learned getting my info straight was the retirement match they had, which I'm guessing why the team ended it's first WWF run, and that they were Anderson's final opponents.

Why did the fat one have an eye patch?
Was it legit or just part of his...whatever gimmick he had?

I somewhat remember the Jacques and Pierre feud. Pierre caught major heat with the Kliq during a tour of Canada in 1995 when he main evented the Quebec dates against Diesel for the WWF title and refused to put him over.
Pierre still wrestles in Quebec and I believe in Ontario and Jacques is promoting in Quebec from what I've heard.

Which again, I didn't know, I thought he was just blind in that eye. Found this clip from Shane Douglas' YouShoot, where he actually talks about witnessing the whole thing involving Carl, with his match with Nash

Indeed. I bought a Nash shoot interview in 2005 and he covers everything that happened that night. For those who don't know, in late 1995, while he was champion as Diesel, Nash was booked against Pierre on a stretch of house shows throughout Quebec and Montreal. Pierre was actually from Quebec so the company thought it might boost the live gates by having a hometown guy go up against the WWF champion. On the first night, Pierre came up to Diesel backstage to go over their match. When they got around to discussing the finish, Pierre agreed to lose, but not to Nash's signature move, the Jackknife. He instead insisted on losing to a big boot. Nash said he reluctantly agreed and later that night Shawn and Razor were in his ear. They were furious with "the pirate" for refusing to take his finish and went on and on about how he was "killing the business." The next show, in Montreal I believe, Pierre again chatted with Nash before their match. He made some absurd comment about the crowd being "60/40 you" to Nash and again insisted on losing only to a big boot. Nash seemed almost amused by his response because he said that the crowds for their shows were nearly all pro-Diesel. Still, Pierre refused to take the Jackknife and ended their conversation saying, "maybe just big boot." During their match, Pierre went up to the top rope and came down hard with a sloppy leg drop right on Nash's head. Nash said he got up immediately and kicked him square in the balls. Then, he punched him in the face, grabbed him by the throat, and said, "It's big boot/powerbomb or I'm going to kill you." After a stiff boot to the face, he lifted Pierre up and hit the Jackknife for the win. Afterwards, there was apparently an altercation backstage between the two that had to get broken up by officials. A casualty of the Kliq indeed, but Pierre was a dickhead for refusing to put over the champion so he may have had it coming.

Ouellet talking about it. I'm surprised he doesn't realize that it was more likely Shawn who cost him his WWF career.

Oh, and I forgot one big thing about their time in WCW, was at a house show in Montreal, Jacques beat Hulk Hogan cleanly, at Hogan's insistence, due to his respect for the Rougeau family.

well done on the info here lads.......I have been eduicated in this thread.never knew one thing about Diesel/Pierre.
I remember being stunned in late 93 when they beat The Steiners for the straps.of course The Steiners were meant to beat them at WMX where all the "Foreign Fanatics" would be defeated.but The Steiners and Vinnie fell out over RR94 and didnt even make the card.......such a pity.

Yeah you can barely ever see them, just mainly in the background a couple of times. I think one of the commetators makes a passing comment about them at some point, but I only noticed they were in there very recently. The RnR express were in there too, as well as Too Cool! I always really liked the match... LOD 2000 had an awesome new look, Too Cool got their first exposure as a duo and one of my biggest guilty pleasure teams actually did really well in the match (Bart and Bob).

Here's what Ive learned from this thread...
-The Kliq hates Canadians
-Nothing good can happen when The Kliq is in Montreal.
