Yeah the only reason to do this that I could remotely understand would be if he is gay. Would of been a better excuse then what he came up with

Easily one of the strangest ing high-profile situations I have ever heard, sports story or not. Very hard to believe he was a "victim" when, as TRW & Ralpho said, he has claimed that he physically interacted with her in the past and now is saying they never met.

I'm really confused.. why is this a story? what does it matter? Because a major high profile NFL draft pick most likely made up a story about a dead girlfriend to garner national sympathy and help his draft prospects and chances of winning a Heisman trophy. It's pretty evil stuff.

But it takes a pretty cold and scary mind to invent and kill a girlfriend, use it for additional publicity after a real family member died, and continue to play it up nationally to help increase your draft stock and fame. People donated to charities in her name, and people shed real tears supporting his lie. Assuming that is what really happened. But his current explanation makes no sense at all.

This is the biggest non-story in sports all sports-year. Who gives a crap about some made up GF nonsense? This is as big as Lance Armstrong? Really?

Well I think that the story is so bizarre is partly why it's such a big deal. As far as Lance, that story is big but older than dirt. Tebow is a bigger nonstory if you ask me but that has lead football coverage for over a year.

Does ESPN think we're ing idiots? They're reporting that a friend of THE friend who created Lennay Kekua said that Te'o had no knowledge of it and is just as surprised as we are... What's really happening is that Manti Teo's friends are trying to get him out of this crap by taking all of the blame for him. There is a 99% chance that Te'o is an accomplice in the whole GF creation. I would bet anything on it. What a horrific attempt to backtrack all of the stuff he said about their "relationship."

Aren't there countless accounts of Te'o saying he met her, where they met, and hanging out in Hawaii? If so how exactly has he never met her? Hes 100% in on this.
